Phil and JR together would be so fun. What if Phil does the improbable? It's more likely if he accepts the job he will trade him. I think JR and GSW would be a nice fit.

The Knicks leaking conversations that never would of been leaked unless a fan revolt was brewing. This is just to get sports writers to write about something else for a few days

His talent evaluation , I need the most dominate player in the NBA to win. Thanks who couldnt do that. So unless this makes Lebron come here he would be building a team without the best player in the world. If I was Lebron why the hell would I leave Pat Riley who has proven to build up an organization for Jackson who hasn't. I'm sorry but this is just a smokescreen to make the fans stop complaining while the team gives a lottery pick to Denver

This team has driven me over the edge, I don't buy anything they say or do. Ive watched them for years make ridiculous trades even when they have leverage. The draft picks they make are vomit inducing. I trust more people on this board in regards to draft evaluations then what ive seen coming from MSG the last dozen years. Its a damn circus,Why would I not think this is total BS?

Stop being so title heavy. There's no more basketball positions...pgs..sg..etc. and there's no more management positions. Phil will be hired as a consultant. But regardless of his title. If you want to change this organization you have to hire people with basketball iq and basketball clout. He has both. This would be a start in the right direction.

Why would lebron leave? Because this is his ticket to be on mt. Rushmore (sp?)

I think it is nothing but smoke. They said a decision will be made next week. Why would Phil take over now and not in the offseason? So he has a playoff less season under his belt as President/GM?

Larry Brown was controversial because he replaced Lenny Wilkins who actually did ok here. A steaming like of dog feces can run the team better then these clowns are right now

Give Jackson time and he will turn it around.

I still rather go after a proven GM and hire JVG or Thibs

I don't think anyone thinks Phil could not do better. My four year old could.

To me, the odd thing is Phil doesn't strike me as a 'data' kind of talent evaluator, and yet that is supposedly what Dolan wanted when he brought McKinsey in to offer up a review - which supposedly led to Mills' hiring.

I keep seeing people bringing up that Dolan had McKinsey do some management consulting for him - but does McKinsey have any history of consulting successfully for other NBA teams?

I know they are a top form but if they don't normally do this sort of think I would take their recommendations with a grain of salt. Granted they are all smarter than Dolan so they are probably right - but do they have a sports consulting group? I haven't heard of it or looked into it so I am curious.

McKinsey is no stranger to the NBA. The firm has been working with the league since 2003, in fact, analyzing individual teams’ effectiveness at maximizing revenues, particularly in their local markets. The consultants have also worked with the league in analyzing its revenue-sharing agreements.

So it will be Phil Jackson firing Woodson? Nice way to start your front office career. I'm no longer buying this. Knicks one-up'd the march 19 protest crew with this leak

Why would the garden care about the fan protest? There's been protests right out the garden before. Dolan doesn't care, don't think one has anything to do with the other.

anyone who comes here has to have a clause in his contract that dolan cannot meddle. otherwise what is the point? haven't we seen this show before?
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Dolan's meddling is problematic but no owner, especially one that pays out over 90 mil in salaries prior to cap penalties, is ever going to stay totally hands off. It just doesn't happen and they certainly aren't going to negotiate something like that in a contract. You have to hope that he respects Jackson enough to allow him to do his job if PJax ends up coming back to NY.

this owner will have to. he has presided over the worst era in knicks history. otherwise he will never be able to hire his betters, only cronies.

He doesn't have to do anything. Its his team. You have to hope that he allows whom ever he hires to do the job but if you pay the bills and own the team you have say. Real world stuff.

uhhh the guy doesn't live in the real world. his money acts as insulation from the real world.

and it isn't his money it's his father's. he was born crossing home plate thinking he hit a homerun. that is not the real world.

exactly- he was diabolical in his advisory role with the Pistons this offseason. I don't think he's ever had GM input into his rosters. Plus it will deter a good coach coming here.

I know who the owner is and I know his history. That doesn't mean that he negotiates a deal with someone that gives away all of his ownership power. That doesn't happen in the real world. Has he sucked as an owner, absolutely. That doesn't mean that he recognizes it or steps away from it while still paying all of the bills.
