Ask yourself, When was the last time you posted a new train of thought?

Bashing Melo is so last week.

This is strictly business.

i give him praise when he plays well and i give him criticism when he doesn't. i have been a model of balance and consistency with my approach to him from day 1. so there is no need to make an inaccurate blanket statement about my take on him.

he remains a mostly fool's gold player. it ain't my fault that he plays in a fashion that deserves mostly criticism and not that much praise. that's his fault. all he had to do was grow as a player while here... the same sort of growth that the players he is lumped in with so enthusiastically have demonstrated: lebron, durant, paul george.

at least you have realized what a horrible mistake trading for him was.

Would be helpful and perhaps believable if you pointed us in the direction of the posts where you have praised Melo.

as i said, he has garnered more criticism than praise from me since he came here. so the posts where i have praised him will be hard to find. i don't expect you to believe me but i know enough to give praise so as to be fair and even-handed. i have been accused of blind hatred but i prefer to se myself as being gimlet eyed.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

We can have a team full of yoot, but it doesn't mean they are going to develop into anything special. Even if they do, does anyone have confidence that this organization will keep them? Talent like Melo is hard to come by, I think we do what we can to build around him (or with him, semantics). The Sacramento Kings are loaded with Yoot....How is that working out for them?

Uptown - the Knicks have built with vets and added yoots.

What is proposed by the Answer Man starts with yoots and finishes with free agent vets. ETA 2017

Hear me now and believe me in three years

A Simple Plan

Build the Knicks around Tim Hardaway Jr, Jeremy Tyler, Kurt Heinrich and the two first round picks from Chicago. That's 5.

Set a goal to add two quality players a year.

In 2015, draft wisely and select the best player available. Discover a 6'11 Euro from Lithuania or Nigeria to invest in. That's 7.

In 2016, with all the extra cash laying around, sign two legit free agents (under 28 years old) to fill in where needed. That's 9.

Piece of cake

Question,

If your lineup for 2015 was the following, would you choose it or would you choose the unknown youth movement?

Lin
Hardaway
Melo
Love
Asik (or Robin Lopez)

Felton (or Barea or Watson)
Shump (or JR)
Outlaw (or Prince)
Cole Aldrich (or someone like Scola)
Tyler

2015 first round pick - think a PG or PF
Toure Murray or Bobby Brown type

Coach - JVG

If this lineup is possible within the salary cap and without giving up more future picks....it would certainly be intriguing and make the choice of going fully to unknown youths not an easy one.

foosballnick - get with the program

Vinny Gambini: It is possible that the two yutes...

Judge Chamberlain Haller: ...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?

Vinny Gambini: Uh... what word?

Judge Chamberlain Haller: Two what?

Vinny Gambini: What?

Judge Chamberlain Haller: Uh... did you say 'yutes'?

Vinny Gambini: Yeah, two yutes.

Judge Chamberlain Haller: What is a yute?

Vinny Gambini: [beat] Oh, excuse me, your honor...

[exaggerated]

Vinny Gambini: Two YOUTHS.

well the big question is whether melo is educated on how nba transactions can take place.

if he looks at the knicks situation, the only real way to improve the roster dramtically will be in the summer of 2015. any move made in the interim will not make a big difference or will decrease opportunities in 2015.

so...can melo wait and sacrifice a year of his prime next season?

i think that's the big question and i don't think he can. earl is right, you need to trade him asap. unfortunately, the knicks probably rank as one of the worst front offices in the league so they won't.

what's amazing is that melo's declaration for free agency to start the season has basically made this season moot and having all knicks fans talking about what to do in 2015. unreal.

You can't trade Melo unless he OKs it..he holds all the cards..No one will give anything of value for him unless its a salary dump...

Putting yourself in the position of an NBA player for a sec, does that sound in any way endearing to you?

TeamBall - excellent observation. No one wants to step their toes in Melo's Nike's and think like an all star player in his prime. Mr. Anthony wants nothing more than a championship ring. Period. Melo has an NCAA championship and is thinking about his legacy. He is NOT thinking what is best for the New York Knicks any more than an employee puts his boss' goals before his own.

One way or another, the handwriting is so large as graffiti bubble letters on the Number 1 train.

Melo is gone.

And if Melo leaves so what...They only way I would trade Melo is if picks are involved..Why would anyone want what Chicago is offering..The future of the NBA was on display last night and it doesn't include the stiffs Chicago is offering...I don't want Boozer or Hinrich one day much less another year on this team..The Knicks organization is bigger than all the above, why fret it..Get a GM in place and a plan going forward..

Yeah, the Bulls' offer is too low but it was just a *starting* offer.

For a trade to go down Melo has to approve yes?? For resigning purposes, yes??...If Melo signs elsewhere it's on a team that can win now...if I'm Chicago, how many teams are like that now waiting for Melo as the final piece and why would I give up pick/picks when he looks like he will come for free at the end of the year??..The circumstances are different now for Melo than when we first traded for him...And Hinrich?? Really??

You dont need melo's approval for any deal, it just limits what a team would offer.

it seems everyone wants picks...cool, send melo to Phx for 2 first rounders and Okafors expiring contract, and what ever else is needed to make the numbers work.

I doubt they give up 2 picks for a half season rental - maybe 1 pick on the off chance they can convince him to resign but we can do better than that.

This right here. If Melo is telling the truth, he will not opt out and re-sign for less after his contract expires and we have cap room in 2015 to sign these other players he is recruiting similar to the way the three amigo's did it.

The risk is that he stays healthy and still playing at a level that garners max attention and a max deal...Bird in the hand is worth more than 2 in the bushes...
