The New York Knicks are interested in trading for Jeremy Lin.

The Knicks let Lin sign with the Houston Rockets in the 2012 offseason.

New York has been searching for trade possibilities at point guard.

Lin's contract expires after the 14-15 season, which preserves their cap flexibility for 2015.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Of all the embarrassing **** we've done over the years refusing to match Lin's offer sheet, trading valuable assets for Raymond "Worst PG in the NBA" Felton, and then trading more valuable assets to reacquire Lin would be right near the top.

They are still looking for that stretch 4 and Bargs fit that mold. They also want Shumpert for backcourt depth. JR Smith is contract filler. It's either him or Fatton and I don't think anybody in their right mind would trade for Fatton.

They are also looking to dump both salaries.

They're not looking to do that either. Bargnani is one of the worst players in the league, has a higher cap number, and is probably out for the rest of the season with his elbow injury; Shumpert has little to no trade value anymore due to his play this season; and JR is right there with Shumpert in terms of trade value. Honestly, no one's giving us anything of value for Bargnani and probably JR. Shumpert might have a little value just based on his age and his potential but not enough to make up for the other two players.

It's reasonable but, for us, it's really a lateral move. If Rubio could ever develop a decent shot he'd be something special but he can't even reliably hit layups. And I like Iguodala but he's best as the 3rd best guy on a title contender, not building around. If we could turn around and trade AI for some picks/young players it's certainly worth considering and taking a chance that Rubio develops a shot at some point.
