As we have witness the knicks have drafted some solid young talent in the pass 7 to 8 yrs(most of them are still in the NBA) they just don't develop them well, and I think playing in NY can be a distraction to young players. You start a NBA career in NY's bright lights, it will have to be a very good 3 to 4 yr college player who has a high character and a high IQ, because its tough to stay focus playing in NY.
How many times have we seen rookies have a great first yr and then either they come back the next season playing the same, or worse..The knicks have no patients, they get traded. If the knicks could package all there picks and young players for rondo, they wouldn't think twice..
I certainly believe vets win rings, but having a healthy roster is right up there as well. Thats been the knicks main issue since MELO got here..
Anybody who think the GS Warriors with Mark Jackson (who I like) gonna win a ring with that core is smoking their running socks.
No seasoned Vets to lead them.
Nets have that seasoned vet look and guys like Blatche would still be a screw up if Garnett and Pierce wasn't playing in Brooklyn.
We did ok and had the right mix of vets leading the way. We should have faced the Heat by beating the Pacers if it wasn't for Woody and his musical chairs with Copeland.
The nets don't have a pg after d will, and there perimeter game is super suspect. there not built to be a prime example of a championship team, there age will catch up, just like it did to us, even the spurs got knocked off despite the higher seed.
The playoffs comes down to 3 things, 1)match ups 2)health 3)balance roster with a star and a quality young player like what sam cassel was for the rockets.
But the most Important aspect of a true championship team is having a leader, there has never been a championship team without a leader
I believe Livingston is a good solid backup for the Nets, at 6'7 he brings lots of advantages and balance to their team.
J.Kidd learned what not to do as a coach playing under Woody last yr, he knows 1st hand about the break down factor of aging vets. Guys like Kirlenko, Garnett , Pierce, Terry etc... they will be have their time restricted at the end of the yr to gear for the playoffs.
Guys with younger legs Blatche , Anderson along with Joe Johnson and D.Will will keep them ready to knock off wannabes unless Kidd does a Woody and panics.
Nets have a go to guy in Joe Johnson, their leader is J.Kidd, D.Will is their pg on the floor and he's getting back in the groove missing much of the 1st half of the season.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
