Just a question to fans--what would you do if we were 18-26 at the trade deadline?

If we continue to play like we have been is Melo going to want to be here?

He is the reason the Knicks are playing so badly. I'm still waiting for the franchise player that some here speak of.

You are only talking about 4 games first off. Can't jump the gun. But if he wants out that's on him. He will get Dwight treatment only worse and we will move on.

Don't forget to ask Toronto too

Yes, and then you could be so happy watching Steve Mills drafting IT's next set of Balkmans...

I said do that during the offseason.. oh well..

If you want to blow it up i get it, i just want to ask a couple questions so i can understand the expectations. Are you ok being a bad team for an indefinite amount of time? At what point is losing no longer acceptable? After 5 years? 7 years? What happens if we become the Bobcats or Kings or Suns or Wizards or Pistons or Bucks etc instead of the Pacers or OKC Thunder and are a lottery team for 10+ years? At what point does rebuilding become more successful than the Melo Era? How do we ensure we become a perennial 54-win team or greater and get to the 2nd round or greater with so many rebuilding teams unsuccessful year after year of accomplishing that feat?

We build like we almost did when we had Gallo, ill wil and DLee. If we'd drafted a PG in that 2009 draft, we'd end up with either Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings or Ty Lawson. Or tried moving up that one spot for Steph Curry. You know, instead of staying put with Chris Duhon. MDA would probably have been here longer and we wouldn't have felt the need to throw money at STAT and MDA might have had the clout to deny that STAT signing.

It's not impossible at all.

With all due respect, that squad sucked. They would essentially be the Milwaukee Bucks and capped out from having retained a group of above average, albeit not great, players.

Like how he left out the Moz?

Some still want to hold on to dream of some day becoming the 0-3, first round fodder Denver Nuggets? Oh yes, because in the East, they'd obviously be in the ECF every year... When the fok is this 2010 was the good ol' days bs ever going to end?

The Knicks are one game out of the sixth seed. Great to see the usuals beating their chest.

But to answer your question, yeah I'd blow it up if that's the case. I'm just saying it won't be

This would be my answer

IF we were on the outside looking in at the playoffs--and a long shot to make them and even worse to do damage

I believe we have many small inexpensive assets that could give us picks in the 2014 draft from playoff teams both in the first and second round. The 2014 2nd round draft will be better than the 2013 FIRST round draft--so consider ANY draft pick next year a first rounder.

Candidates
Udirih
MWP
Kenyon Martin
Pablo P

all 4 are vets making less than 1.5mm who can help an NBA playoff team searching for quality depth

Even Felton could be had at the right price--as he does not make that much in this game.

Looking at a tunr around model that has worked quickly the Orlando Magic have turned themselves around VERY quickly using a sell your top guy for top cheese and gather any and all assets from young players to additional draft picks and they have one of the most promising teams WHO will vie for a championship in the next 3 years. The Knicks have a MASSIVE potential FA in 2015--we could essentially do a 1.5 year rebuilding where this time we build a core STICK with it instead of trading it all away for one player and rebuild something that might just be broken more than anyone of us believed.
We have the ability to turn this around quickly if this season goes sour because we have that FA. This team was not built as a long term gig--we have retreads last year and this year--last years bunch burned out. This years--is also pretty old. If we are not in plausible playoff contention---my idea is to sell the farm to garner assets as many as possible divorcing from CA going for multiple later 1's and 2's in the 2014+2015 draft with the big eye on the 2015 FA class.

In this scenario--I would be willing to trade anyone in the right deal. I do not believe there are untouchables in this team.

Would you do Felton to OKC for their 1st rounder this year? They desperately need an upgrade at backup PG.

I really think regardless of what the record is, Mills is going to work with the FO to put together 1 or 2 blockbuster moves. Rondo, Rudy Gay, and David Lee will be 3 of the most available big names if i had to guess (not saying they are all the best options by any means.) Rondo will be the first option, with a deal centered around shumpert and Amare for Rondo and a couple of bad contracts. Also, Bargnani to GS for Lee is a possibility (although a small one) depending on where GS is at that point and where they think they would be without Lee and his contract that lasts a little longer. I just see Mills making a splash this deadline and doing all he can to put real talent around Melo.

Yuck. I'd rather just avoid all 3 of those people.
