He is not the best scorer in the league he is the best volume shooter in the league.

Does that mean Tyson Chandler is the best scorer in the league? His FG% is SO high, He's super-de-duper effishunt!

let me ask you this.. durant won 3 of the last 4 scoring titles... and honestly pretty much tied last year for the lead....

do you still consider carmelo the best scorer in the league?

No, but I never said he was...I'd say he's top 3 and I know you don't agree with that.

well you have kobe, lebron, durant... so no, I don't agree... again, objectively look at this...

Some of these guys can't understand that they see the Knicks as fans. Who cares if Barkley hates the Knicks, but what he said was true. Some of these guys want to be lied to.

good post vmart, lets talk about the lies..

{{{{{{{So let's chronicle Barg's Pneumonia Gate.....

Caught Pneumonia probably a few days to a week prior to August 20th during the Euroleague Championsips

"The FIP thanks Bargnani for his work done and wishes him the best of luck for the future," the statement said.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...sket-pneumonia

We got 2 choices here concerning Bargs

Oct 1st Quotes
"Ain't no pressure on him," Anthony said at the end of practice on Tuesday, the Knicks' first of training camp. "You come here and play ball. All the pressure is on me. It should be easy for him."

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ba...icle-1.1473246

"When you play with great guys it makes the game easier because they're drawing attention and they know how to play," said Bargnani, who pronounced himself fine after a bout of pneumonia."

Oct 17th Quotes
"It's looking good," Woodson said on Sunday. "I don't know who's going to start yet. But I like the makeup of Andrea and Melo on the floor at the same time with Tyson[Chandler]. In the scrimmage we worked that combination. It wasn't bad."

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/kni...o-looking-good

"Me and 'B' had a great week, just playing together, spacing it out on the court/b], me trying to learn from, him, him trying to learn from me, trying to see what spots he likes out there on the basketball court," Anthony said. "For the most part, he's actually a smart player; he can play off people."

Oct 27th Quote
"[b]He's not going to adjust to the New York style, the New York way of living, overnight
. So I'm not asking people to be patient with him but as his teammates we're very patient with him,"...Anthony said

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/kni...ern-for-knicks

I guess that's why....... Melo and B GET PAID THE BIG BUCKS(signed Isiah Thomas)

You're 2 choices are.....

Believe these lies

or

Don't believe these lies}}}}}}}}}

I don't know what to think of what went down. But I'm going to give Bargs the benefit of the doubt because Pneumonia is no joke and Bargs being an athlete it makes it that much more difficult to recover from. Stamina and other issues that come with it can be affected by Pneumonia.

With that said I feel three Grunwald moves got him fired. Bargs, Amare and Lin, they F'ing had Beatlemainia going on with Lin and Grunwald put an end to it. Those who know Dolan know he is all about the ticket sales and advertising dollars. Grunwald took a strick on that one. Then he got another strick with Amare having surgery why was he brought back for playoffs that made no sense only to have surgery again. Then he traded for Bargs an injury prone player probably not a bad move but with the team across the bridge making moves that were drawing attention lead to strick three.

I honestly don't know what to make out anything that comes out of NYK media room. This year is going to be all about selling the garden to the fans.

I'm sorry but that's some arbitrary criteria you put together. The goal of of the players is the win a championship. Only so many players can get there during their careers. So should I count every player that didn't win it all as failures? I don't think so.

i am not going to bother going into the details of the relative playoff success of his rivals or so-called peers and contemporaries. people like to hang chris paul out there but there are a good number of others who have had more success than melo in the playoffs. off the top of my head: durant, lebron, rose, dirk, pierce, garnett, duncan, bryant, nash, howard, billups, deron williams. all have had better playoff success than anthony.

your not going to be the #1 scorer in the league shooting a high %...lets get real, those days are over..

Westbrook is KD's 2nd scorer or visa versa, that hasn't exactly workout for them either. It's not about having a 2nd scorer, its about having the right team surrounding your scorer.

when james was in cleveland racking up wins, points, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals, it still wasn't enough.

LBJ is a very good player, but if it wasn't for mike miller (1st ring) and ray allan (2nd ring) he would have no rings. In fact, LBJ said as recently as yesterday he still is baffled at how they won game 6, and he watched the tape 100 times over the summer

You think if JR doesn't freeze up in the playoffs were off to the ECF..You guys keep focusing on melo, but in all honesty, his supporting cast has let him down more then he has let them down.

winning the title would be awesome but not realistic.
reaching the finals would still be a thrill and would absolutely exceed my expectations.
making the conference finals is a point of pride and means you are an elite team.
anything short of these goals is <meh> bordering on failure.

conclusion: had the knicks made it to the cf i would have been satisfied. this season i would still be satisfied. i never expected anything more than that with this knucklehead as the main piece anyway. his ceiling would be the cf with him as the main piece, commanding more money than he deserved to get in the first place.

that is what this all boils down to. a player overvaluing himself and getting paid more than he deserves.

He also has my permission to send KG a gut checl.

Papabear Says

I agree. Melo is a great player and probably the best that we will see in the next 10 years or more. But thats not what the haters want. They want a player to play a certain way, their way and Melo does not play the way they want him to play. They will tell half truths about Melo's stats. And one of them I call The Sean Hanity of basketball against the Knicks.

hmmm... shaq, kenny and barkley just completely underscored what has been said by a few people around here ever since the trade.

yet you mean to tell me they know nothing either.

koo-ky

While I agree with what they are saying they are not the most credible sources. Shaq is not an analyst, he is an entertainer, same with Barkley, they make people laugh, not come up with earth-shattering insights. Only one that consistently raises valid points is Kenny. It's funny how one quote from a clown like Barkley agreeing with them can send some into pure ecstasy...like your whole life has new meaning now or something.

it's possible to be insightful and informative while also being funny. i think all three are very very smart and i learn stuff. same with chris webber.

i don't get sent into ecstasy having the deepest concerns for the knicks utterly confirmed.

ecstasy for me would come from the knicks putting a winning team on the floor for once.

list for me the paid experts who endorse your point of view why don't you?

First of all, I just said I usually agree with Kenny, especially with his suggestion that Melo try to make a decision with the ball within 4 seconds.

You just seriously called a dude that screams "birdmam! birdman!" at the top of his lungs every 5 seconds an expert. Chew on that. I watch their TNT late night segment frequently because it's funny, not because of the quality of opinions. You can't get serious basketball analysis from that crew anymore than you could get all your news from the Colbert Report taking everything at face value. It's an entertainment segment that deals with basketball, not a basketball program with the primary purpose to educate and a secondary purpose to entertain.

Barkley knows basketball, Shaq know it to. You guys are trying to fault them for what they said but they are telling the truth they are privy to a lot more insider knowledge than most reporters. A lot of people hate it when they hate on the Knicks, but they are not looking at the Knicks with fan eyes they are looking at them objectively.

Yes, of course, Charles Barkely, objective Knicks analyst. You are too funny.

He hated on the Knicks because they sucked when they got Amare and then Melo he started to warm up to the Knicks. He even acknowledged Melo as a great scorer, he calls out Melo's fault you guys say he isn't objective but the truth is Melo would rather jack a shot up than pass the ball. Isn't that the truth?

He has been very open about how he hates the Knicks. He doesn't like how the organization treated Patrick. He has said it hundereds of times. Also, I agree with those that say he is an entertainer. He knows something about basketball because he was a player. He doesn't prepare for his job the way an analyst should. He doesn't know guys names or can't say them. He is a combination of Mr. Obvious and Mr. Provocative. I would never call him Mr. Insight or describe him as insightful.

I'd just like to point out KG made it out of the first round TWICE in 13 years before he played on a team with Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. KG was a giant LOSER for yeeeeears before that Boston trade. So if we're gonnna hold Melo up to that level of scrutiny, be honest with every guy on that list who didn't have superstar help prior to history being rewritten for them once they finally won something.

melo is more hood, no doubt... but that is the same reason why he's a failure as a pro. hood is about self not team.

Failure as a pro?

two times out of ten times he has made it out of the first round. one CF appearance in 10 years.

failure.

And I can name even more people who have had less success but where does that get us? What's the point of all that playoff success that Rose, Deron, Durant, etc had if they don't win it all? Should they be satisfied being able to look back on their career and say "Well, at least I had more success than Melo"?

winning the title would be awesome but not realistic.
reaching the finals would still be a thrill and would absolutely exceed my expectations.
making the conference finals is a point of pride and means you are an elite team.
anything short of these goals is <meh> bordering on failure.

conclusion: had the knicks made it to the cf i would have been satisfied. this season i would still be satisfied. i never expected anything more than that with this knucklehead as the main piece anyway. his ceiling would be the cf with him as the main piece, commanding more money than he deserved to get in the first place.

that is what this all boils down to. a player overvaluing himself and getting paid more than he deserves.

So do you believe this team is good enough to make it there? Or last season's team?

Assuming that's true, what does that help Melo accomplish exactly?

He puts a lil fear in Lebron when they go head to head. It all started back in Highschool when they went head to head and Melo always won. He has too much respect for Melo.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Rose and Durant are still in the early stages, the book has not been written on them yet, but even then it does matter that they have more success because you have something to gauge positively... if you have those guys and want to build around them, you know you have a legit chance to win it all...

you do realize carmelo is asking for more money than all of those guys.. that is a huge problem... you can't win if you can't get out of the first round.

let me ask you and the others this.. Do you just want to rake over a max deal to carmelo.. a kobe max? is that what you want? do you honestly feel that will get us closer to a ring? If so, then for me this discussion is over.. welcome to HELL for the next few years... Hell with no hope.... and kiss that cap space goooooodbye...

I've already said I don't want to give Melo that much money, but acknowledged that he'll probably get it from Dolan.

no they won't make it to the ecf. i think this team is in disarray, the roster remains clumsy with ill-fitting one-way players.

my prescription for success, whatever it may be, begins with defense: hence, as i have been saying all along, you have to have artest and shumpert out there a bunch. no more training wheel backcourt gimmicks. no bargnani either.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
