I would be surprised. Morey is a statistician who knows what he's doing.

Yeah like paying Lin $8 per season for a year slightly better than Ray Felton who makes half of that. I think it's fair to say that he knows how to screw teams with the new CBA.

How is Houston screwed? They have a superstar in James Harden, are about to add another one in Dwight Howard, have a bunch of really good role players, and can make more moves if they want. Oh, and their cap number is about $20M lower than ours.

Didn't say that the Rockets were screwed. I said the Rockets screwed the Knicks and Bulls through the new CBA.

Ah, I misinterpreted that. Still, what happened with Lin had almost nothing to do with the new CBA. If it did, we wouldn't have just brought in $23M worth of Bargnani for the next two seasons.

it was all about the cba as was bringing in bargs.

they put themselves in position to be able to get dwight but the lakers really messed up. Minimally you fire dantoni in an effort to keep dwight. They had the guy and he walked. Gave up an extra thirty mil to leave dantoni and kobe.

They then Amnesty Amre and have cap room for Howard! Everyone wins...

A) you can't amnesty players you trade for
B) warriors already used their amnesty on a $2 or 3 mil contract last offseason- biggest waste of the amnesty I've ever seen!

what? is that true? how does that happen

Yup- they used it on the low paid Charlie Bell, to try and make a bit more room to make an offer to restricted FA DeAndre Jordan, which the Clippers matched. So they didn't even gain anything from it! Terrible misuse of the amnesty, which no one could make sense of even at the time!

It never ends.....

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/7/6/4498920/dwight-howard-contract-opt-out-clause-trade-kicker-rockets

Dwight Howard will have an option to become a free agent after the 2015-16 season, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The new Rockets center agreed to a four-year, $88 million maximum contract on Friday that will have an early termination option after the third year of the deal.

Howard could use the early termination in 2016 to re-sign with the Rockets, when he would be eligible for a five-year maximum contract with Houston, but that assumes they would still want him then. Howard will be 30 in 2016 and, after already dealing with a major back injury, there are no assurances that he will be a dominant player in three years' time.

Whether Howard is or isn't completely healthy, he could also use the opt out to leave the Rockets in 2016. That means the NBA might be a mere three years away from another Dwightmare.

In addition to the opt out, Howard also has a 15 percent trade kicker in his contract. That means, if he's traded, the mercurial big man will be paid what he is due on the remainder of his contract plus an extra 15 percent.

Um, Dwight Howard is the one "superstar" in the whole NBA, that I want even less than MElo.

But they are definitely going to be interesting to watch. I am not sure yet how well this will work, simply because Deight is a effing moron and a crybaby(you'd never get the trolls to admit it, but yes we criticize acquisitions by other teams as well). But from a skill evaluation Harden, Dwight and Parsons is a great core. If they trade Asik for a stretch 4 like Ryan Anderson they will be potent. Too bad they had to give up Delfino. I would hope the keep Lin, but I don't think McGake likes him.

I still wish we could some how get Asik.

"It was expected," Shaq said. "We've all been in LA, and not a whole lot of people can handle being under the bright lights. Everybody wants to do it, but when you get there, there are certain pressures. I think it was a safe move for him to go to a little town like Houston. That's right, little town. I said it."

Shaq taking shots at Dwight without provocation only legitimizes Dwight's claim to bein the most dominant center.

Dwight is a azzhole but he did 2 things I respect him for:

1. Said "no" to Hollywood and Los Angeles. Told Kobe to Phuch off in a way.

2. Did take a pay cut and did not force sign and trade thus rockets have assets to complete the team.

Maybe in a way Dwight finally made a good choice?

The first is just more of him being all about Dwight. The second I agree is definitely noteworthy. Atleast he didn't Melo the Rockets so maybe he did learn something from our Melo trade. I am not saying he should have stayed in LA, I think he never should have gone there. It will definite be interesting to see how they play together.

I agree. He is the first star to walk away from the big money of the fifth year. The Kobe/DAntoni combo was not a good situation for him. He was smart to leave.

Interesting take on the Dwight-Kobe Dynamic. Makes dwight look "small"!

I don't know about that, omer was a double double guy, and re directing and blocking shots, plus he could hit FT,s and had a mid range jumper, I would trade him for tyson any day of the wk..

There better no doubt, but they run up and down like MDA likes to do, and DH is not good in that kind of offense

Why would Houston trade Asik for Tyson when they just signed Howard?

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I think Dwight will play a lot of PF if they keep Omer.

We need a third team to take Ty Chan and yield cap space to the Rockets if such a thing is possible within the rules. Pipe dream, I know.
