Already hearing whispers Kenyon Martin not interested in being signed-and-traded to Toronto, so teams will likely have to try another way

So were we trying to include Kmart in this deal? Why...

i saw that. Aren't q and Barron vet minis the Knicks could send?

Yeah I think it ends up being q-rich but I just dont see why they would start out thinking about sending Kmart. We kinda need him next season.

Also, does that mean the Knicks have a team option on Kmart. I thought he was a free agent.

I think he is a free agent which is why we'd have to get him to agree to a sign and trade. I thought we wanted him back anyway.
Martin is a more valuable players than bargnani IMO. I dont really get why Grunny has such a fascination for this guy

I don't mind the trade, but it seems rushed and not well thought out, almost like a knee reaction to the Boston/Nets trade

Thi is what the Knicks do for years. I mean Dolan doesnt make things easy especially since he is a moron. Dont get me wrong the Nets are kind of screwed in teh future but they made the right move for next year if they are going for it. They got 2 HOF players who have a ton of experience winning. We got a soft injury prone player who can score but not much else

Isola was on sports nite and said the Knicks have been keeping an eye on barge for a couple of years. I think if you can trade old and limited deadweight for a 27 year old seven footer that was a #1 pick you do it. Throwing on a late first round pick 3 years from now is not something I would worry about.

Live for today. They'll be more picks to trade in the future!

If Dwight goes to Rockets, Lin might become available!

This is grunwald a third offseason as Knicks gm. It is the first time he has traded a first round pick and he is bringing back a former #1 overall pick that is 27 and seven feet tall. He also has an extra 4 mil for the year the Knicks finally have cap space. What is your issue with this deal? You are usually pretty rational unless you are baiting guys. Is that what it is. Are you just being provacative or do you really think this is an Isaiah move?

Way to sugarcoat the acquisition of a scrub.

Raptor fans are celebrating like they won a title.

after trade was first discovered have not seen one raptor fan that was against it. No media people think the Knicks won the trade also.

Man, we care about the least important things. Raptors' fans opinions? Who won the trade according to the media? Who the freaking cares?

Do you think the Lakers care that they made the strongest offseason moves last year? How did that work out for them?

If Bargs is healthy and motivated, this is a solid deal for us.

If adding Novak and Camby is winning a title have at it. Is Novak and fields contracts on the same team kismet?

The winning a title part is from them getting 3 picks for a person they thought they would have to amnesty.

Two of the picks are second round picks. The other pick will most likely be after 20 three years from now. If that pick becomes an nba rotation player it usually takes several years for them to develop. So a guy that might contribute in 2018-19 is holding you back from getting a former # 1 overall pick that is 27 and seven feet tall?

Doesnt that tell you something about their credibility?

Who cares what the Raptors fans think?

Simply put, if a change of scenery and improved health restore Bargnani to the solid player he was not too long ago, we will be the ones celebrating when the actual games happen.

Anyone who knows anything about this player knows that Raptors fans are right for their hate of him. He's soft, he's useless on the boards and on defense and his offense consists of launching jump shots at an inefficient level. Even at his "best" he was simply a scorer on an awful team. Kind of like Curry's 19ppg that one season Isiah was force-feeding him the ball.

It's the 2016 pick Crush....sorry cornbreh you can't talk yourself into this making sense. You should have learned already from the Camby/Hosuton debacle except it managed to get worse.

They posted a stat during the draft that after the 15 th pick...I don't remember it exactly so if someone does please post it. I do remember the number, 22% of the guys picked after 15 playin the nba for a significant amount of time.
If the k icks get a chance to dump dead weight and create salary cap space for a particular year (see previous gm's plan of fleecing the franchise of youth, talent and draft picks) and get a former #1 overall that is seven feet tall and only 27 I think you have to go for it.
Also, on my iPod. The years on my previous post are wrong. Going from twitter to this forum and watching tv. Sorry if my previous post looked ridiculous interns of years.

loweyecue wrote:Will the people who support this trade please breakdown WHAT Bargnani does that will make the Knicks better? Forget what we gave up - just what is it that makes him a value add? Scoring? (I think JR was a heck of a lot cheaper) What else?

IMO it's the style of play that we can have with a stretch 4/5. We will have no choice but to play towards Melo, meaning adding players that can thrive playing the way Melo wants to play. Bargs can score from anywhere on the floor and thus you can't leave him at any time on defense. This is perfect for playing with Melo who wants to operate from the mid-post in. Bargs can easily thrive from the elbow to the 3pt line and can also go low post. This is something neither STAT nor Tyson can do and thus it helps to maintain spacing and flow. We'd be able to play Melo at the 4 on offense, with Bargs basically a huge 3 and then switch those roles on D. That's the perfect situation for how they want to play Melo.

I think people forget just how talented Bargs is. He can move extremely well for a 7'er. He can post and has lots of refined moves in the post. We haven't had a skilled 7'er like this in his prime for a long time. Of course he's not a rebounder and you have to live with that, but if he was then I doubt we'd have a chance to get him. IMO the injuries he suffered, especially last year were a fluke. He got undercut on a dunk and fell awkwardly on his arm. That's not a chronic wear injury that you have to worry about. People are making too much of it. This was a good move.

I thought he was a good fit offensively and had suggested a bad contract swap out with Amare for Bargs and Fields as all the deals expired at the same time. I thought splitting the deal into 2 players would make it easier to trade down the road if we had to make a deal. However I cant condone trading 3 picks to bring in him.

Offensively on paper this deal makes sense but its also being made on the assumption Bargs and Melo are sharing the floor. Im not sure Mike Woodson is going to start Bargs and if u are putting him on the bench then all our doing is causing minute conflicts on the 2nd unit
