What makes you think kmart is a fake thug? His history indicates otherwise. Im pretty sure he is aware that this was one of the main reasons he was brought in if not the reason
GUNS, I think kenyon is the one who may need to have someone get his back.. he has quick fuse and not much poise... No one is shooting another player on the court, no one fighting.. this is a battle of the mental... Boston has proven over and over again, they can win those battles.. kenyon on the other hand has proven, just like carmelo that they can be rattled... to the point of making costly non-basketball plays on the court.. at the wrong time...
No question about that. The knicks need to be menyally strong. They've proven this year that they are not and teams know it. Thats why the addition of Kmart is key. Teams are going to do a lot less talking in Melos ear unless their players like bloody noses
You're not actually agreeing with his point though. Hes saying Kmart is one of those guys that will get rattled and thrown off his game.
Oh no I vehemently disagree with that. Im posting on my phone and missed that part. There is nothing fake tough guy about kmart. If Kmart was still on the Knuggets those same guys would be raving about his toughness and protecting of his teammates. It is what it is
who has k mart protected guns? This fake tough guy stuff, getting tech's at the wrong time, doesn't make you tough.. it makes you stupid... how is k mart going to have anyone's back when he can't seem to keep his cool as well...
this is not MMA, this is a test of the will, a mental test.. name me one knick outside of kid who has proven himself tough, mentally tough in that area? and kid's role has been greatly diminished as the season moved along...
you know what, I have to agree with this post (at least for the most part). I know I'm contradicting myself here but, I remember thinking -seeing this guy get techs and ejected/suspended like he was in Jersey- what a fool.
But, watching him in Denver, he seemed to have develop some self control. The hard fouls were still there but, toned down and, no, I can't remember him ever protecting anyone but, I think his hard foul, don't give a "F" mentality had much the same effect.
and we will have to see what effect that will have.. One thing I had to come to understand, especially when we had Q rich and Zach, and they used to go at boston and Pierce, talking about how pierce isn't gangsta and how he couldn't do this or that in the streets.. well guess what? this isn't the streets! No one is fighting, no one is pulling a gun or knife (unless you are a dumbass like that crittendon who will be serving life hopefully for that shooting here in atlanta), I mean most of these guys are country club butt buddies..
now garnett and pierce come off as stand-offish type of douchebags, but that is their advantage over a lot of people.. they play hard, play dirty enough to push the envelope , but not go too far.. and you have to be mentally prepared to stay focused game in and game out to beat those guys....
you are either going to have to be just too talented for them( as in the case with the heat a couple of years ago) or if you are close in talent, as the knicks are, you are going to have to win the mental game, and that involves keeping your poise so you can play your game.. the knicks don't have the kind of talent to just go out there and beat them despite being rattled a bit.... we are not going to out talent boston.. we are going to have to grind it out in every facet and beat them.... and keeping cool is the first step... this is where I have my doubts..
