spurs fans can trust their team to come correct every day, year after year after year, after year
Yeah, probably the most consistent team over the past decade. If that is the only acceptable level of consistency, then maybe you need to lower your standards.
why should we have lower standards with the richest team in the league?
we have to have the highest standards,
why does lakers and celtics put up a championship every few years, on average, over the last 20 or 30 years? but we have not won a single championship in the last 40 years?
this is new york, 51 wins and a first round exit doesn't cut the cheesecake,
let's get there, Melo, get to the championship round, AT THE LEAST i want ECF this year, anything less is an ugly, disgusting failure
Money doesn't always buy the best players. To not make the playoffs in a weak conference with a big market and deep pockets? That's ridiculous. We are lucky to root for a team with such benefits. However, there are only so many star players, superstars are hard to come by. LeBron passed on us and we haven't had a top 5 pick in how long?
The salary cap only allows for so much spending. A first round loss would be disappointing but anything more than that is pretty nice. Maybe they blew the Lin situation, but that's a whole different debate. What more do you want? Grunwald has worked magic finding guys like Novak, Copeland, Lin, JR, etc hardly paying them anything. The rest can almost be summed up to luck to have a DRose, Blake Griffin, or LBJ fall in your lap. You want Dolan to start bribing referees or something?
What more can be done exactly? Should we tank for a top draft pick? We are the #2 seed. 20+ teams would gladly trade situations.
i'm just looking at the bigger time frame,
tj you will notice if you look carefully that i am a big picture thinker, an idea man,
here is the crux: we are thrown some scraps from a very nice dinner table this season, but they are still scraps if you back up and look at the last 40 years,
i will not say sorry for not jumping on the hype, 51, 52 wins? that's great, now show me what will happen in the Second Season,
AFTER they show us a strong Second Season (ECF at minimum), THEN AT THIS POINT NEXT YEAR, with 52 wins, I will buy the bag of coffee beans,
the reason i do not expect big things in the Second Season is because the Greater Trend, specifically Melo's almost decade-long career in NBA, shows that he will not lead his team deep into playoffs; further, i argue that, despite the recent hot balls win streak, even this regular season has not been so good because it is founded on two extremes, lacking a middle balance.
death of the world sandwiched between two hot balls plays, this does not translate to lasting success,
also, we keep in mind that jr, one of the critical pieces to the recent run, is playing for a contract and will revert to his ****ty self after he is payed; guys that show up in contract years do not have any absolute value, this is a flash in the pan.
which is why the iron is not so glowing red for me,
