Again with this? Earlier in the season, Felton said in one interview after another how Kidd was helping him with his game. MSG crew were saying that it shows how dedicated Raymond is to be still willing to learn at this stage in his career, but you see some veiled insult. When was the last time anyone said that anyway?
I honestly don't know what Felton's numbers are and I don't care. Felton is having his best season ever IMO. I have never seen him take better care of the ball, never seen him drive as effectively, especially as of late. He doesn't jack up shots like he used to. Like he has for pretty much his entire career.
Why would anyone be surprised or offended in repeating what Felton himself has said repeatedly, that a future HOF PG gave him some pointers now and then and it was helping him? The results speak for themselves. It doesn't negate what Felton has done, to the contrary. It shows how dedicated Felton is to leave no stone unturned to help the squad.
If you honestly believe that's the same thing as saying that Felton had very little or nothing to do with his own success this season then we're just going to have to agree to disagree.
Most players in the NBA gets where they are going on their own merit..Why can't Felton...Why does Prig's have to teach him or Kidd for that matter???..Felton singing praises about Kidd is just a matter of courtesy..If the media ask you how Kidd has help??..You have zero choice but to say he has been great helping me with my game or be deemed a malcontent...When asked by the media, Melo was singing Kidd praises as well on how he helped his game earlier in the season...Do you believe Melo as well???..Maybe Kidd did help both but who cares, not the point..Point is really, Why must Felton be judge by the standards that he needs help to succeed and no one else??
And u are wrong about his career FG attempts...He has always taken about 11-13 shots per game which is about his average now...He also played great ball in his first stint here...Earlier in the season, his FG attempts were an aberration due to all the injuries...No doubt he was asked to be more aggressive to help the team..
My point isn't one of being offended in any way by having a player can help your game, but instead, why are Felton's successes, always explained away by another PG coming to his aid, always ??..Who helped him during his first stint in NY??....And why would you take offense to me saying Felton is his own man who stands on his own two feet..He doesn't need Prigs or Kidd to prop him up...Why does that offend you ??
I get what you're saying. You believe that Felton is being singled out. That Felton wasn't the only one Kidd spoke to. My answer would be that Melo isn't a PG. As far as Felton's shot attempts, its about his shot selection, more than the amount of shots he's taken. Felton has a rep, not one that I created, for being careless with the ball at times, sometimes to the detriment of the team. For trying to get into one on one battles with elite PGs and not thinking about the game plan. Felton still does that from time to time but not as much this season.
Its not about another PG coming to his aid, its about Felton understanding that he isn't a finished product.
You can go back (not that its important) and look at all the times I said to the effect that Kidd was going to raise the collective IQ of this team when he was signed. He was brought in to mentor Lin and instead he mentored another PG, Felton.
