We all know your worth, Melo. We (and I'm speaking for most of the Homer fan contingent) all know we'd rather have you with the ball in your warm hands at the end of the game after shooting 40% or even 30% then holding our breath hoping JR catches some rim with the last second step back. While you've been getting cold watching others shoot and miss. We all know Johnny "Crisp" Novak is not to be trusted at big spots at this point in his fledgling career. Give the boy a few more seasons. Provided he doesn't get some stupidly ridiculous contract from Charlotte or the Jazz or some such thing. We all know you've spent two very long seasons here trying things like trusting people like Fishlips. We understand, that at times, you see RayRay and no one can fault you for having Toney Douglas flashbacks. Thankfully, there's really no one on this squad that could even bring a shuddering thought of Landry Fields to your mind's eye. KMart is ugly, but we all know, and you as well, that he's efficient. Efficency, however, is nice in accounting. You aren't an accountant, you are a scorer. Continue to be all that you can be. You am that you am! Keep shooting Melo. You are the only constant starhope this AARP squad has, your short stints on the IR aside. We know this. You know this. The city knows this. And most importantly, Woody knows this. We've seen you save the bacon plenty of times these past three seasons. Excuse me now, while I go bump the YouTube Melo thread... Respectfully yours, Jrod "he with the three game thread winning streak" mc what is that worth? Some of us are wondering.... Hmmmmmmm, first in the division? Someone on the team who's capable of scoring lots of points? Someone on the team that Kobe considers an actual problem to guard?
I know, as a knick fan, we've ALWAYS had someone like that. If you were wondering about the worth of the three game thread winning streak, it's currently on sale for one fishmike response. I hear that so many times in defense of carmelo.. what value does that actually have... maybe no one else in the league feels that way...miami acutally allows battier to guard carmelo because the key is to make him shoot(since he is not efficient) and just shut down everyone else.. ok, so kobe believes that, does lebron? does wade? does anyone else? How long are people going to ride that statement that really has little value.... just curious...
Michael Jordan once said, david thompson and walter Davis were players he admired the most ? what does that mean? should we add that to their career accolades? being admired by Jordan? Yeah, and then they put Lebron on him once Melo embarrassed Battier, like the last time the teams played. Melo was a big part of that strong first half, it was when they put Lebron on him that Melo, and the team, began to slow down. I think you've been staring at pictures of gallo too long man, get some sleep, you're not making sense. yea, typical post from someone that can't defend their point without derailing with gallo talk.. typical.. as i said, they put battier on him, to make him work and toss up shots... then after he has reached his quota of 30 shots they will throw lebron to pretty much seal the deal.... smart basketball.. he is not embarrasing battier, shane is actually making him expend a lot of energy... doesn't matter if he scores or not.. again, you are not disagreeing with me, but you are too blind worrying about trying to gallo shots at me than actually proving a legit point... Melo is expending energy when battier scores so it doesn't matter if he scores or not? Is this your grand argument? The same point could be made for Felton when quick, athletic guards torch him every night, since they expend energy running to the basket to throw it down. As long as you are scoring efficiently (which I know you're big on, as you should be), as melo was in the first half, you are helping your team and hurting the other team. Melo's exploitation of Battier in the first half gave them a very large advantage over the heat at halftime, it was the lack of defensive intensity and melo's difficulty scoring on lebron that lead to the outcome; the team eased up and was punished. The second half the Knicks should have gone away from melo, not because he was fatigued, but because he had a much tougher cover, yet as we know, they live and die with melo. my argument is simple... let carmelo kill himself scoring points, missing.. it doesn't matter.. he does nothing else to affect the game.. he doesn't pass, defend or make any one else better. so letting carmelo shoot and shoot, and shoot is not a big concern for a team like miami.. The same point could be made for Felton when quick, athletic guards torch him every night, since they expend energy running to the basket to throw it down. no it isn't.. when a guard is consistently beating felton, it creates problems for the defense and opportunities for other teamates... that guard can pass to open teamates, it forces defenses to rotate leaving offensive rebounds open.. it creates other problems... why is that hard to understand?
