tough news for you guys. but it was foretold.

amare's legacy - 30 games of mvp type play (which all knicks fans hold on to for dear life), followed by two stellar playoff dnp's due to dunking in warm ups and punching a fire extinguisher. worst acquisition in franchise history (when you take dollars + years into account).

this also makes the tyson chandler deal even worse. overpaid, overrated, and the reason you lost the amnesty.

option a: trade melo + chandler this summer.

option b: don't trade either and be stuck in purgatory hell for the next 2 seasons.

which one does dolan choose?

Agree about your first paragraph. What is your opinion of Walsh's tenure and legacy?

I don't view the Walsh era negatively. We needed a star and after STAT came it made it more feasible that Melo wanted to come and the same with Tyson. As for the games missed in the playoffs by STAT it wasn't his knee in the Boston series and it wasn't his knee in the Heat series. Those were fluke injuries no one could predict.

If STAT cant overcome his knee issues We still came out of this with Melo and Tyson who we got in large part because STAT was already here and it made Sense to form a core around those players. It was worth the risk IMO. STAT had just come off a great season in PHX and looked strong. He started off great his 1st yr. no one knew exactly when his knees would wear down. Knicks rolled the dice and lost on this one but given the chance that it couldve worked it was a risk worth taking.

I'd say Antonio McDyess is the worst aquisition in franchise history, because he cost us Camby and ironically, Amar'e who could have been drafted- at least this older Amar'e was just a FA signing.

People exaggerate how bad Amar'es contract is for us- take his $20mil off and we're still at the salary cap. Under this cba we wouldn't really be in a better position (aside from being able to offer the full MLE). Really it wouldn't make any difference if he was paid $5mil per year (aside from being easier to trade). So those desperate to dump his contract- honestly it won't make any difference.

If we hadn't of signed him, we wouldn't have Melo or Tyson or any of the others. Who realistically would we have ended up signing either the past summer or two? Hardly any significant FA's changed teams. Likely we would have ended up trading for the awful attitude of Dwight, the awful attitude of Deron Williams or the awful shooting of Rudy Gay- heck, knowing our luck we would have traded for Bynum!

Ha- wait a minute though, I forgot about eddy Curry- cost us Joakim Noah, LaMarcus Aldridge, and then his salary meant we had to trade Jared Jeffries and 2 1st rounders and our top ten pick from the draft, Jordan Hill. So that's 5 1st round picks, most of them high, for that bum who couldn't even play the last 2 seasons we had him!

Dice Curry trades. Impossible to pick between the 2

Ewing Clyde trades were bad but they were at the tail end of their careers

Has to be Curry. We've made a ton of bad trades over the years but, like you said, the Curry deal's combination of bad contacts plus draft picks takes the cake.

Stat is a great player and works hard. Too bad he is hurt again.

But I have to blame Woodson for some of this. He played Amare too many minutes, over the 30 minute cap, and refused to play Copeland.
Woodson could have split some of Amare's time with Copeland and we might still have Amare. Copeland has shown that he can play; and he can score. Woodson was too stubborn. Now our season's in jeopardy. Damn.

He should retire. He should want to be healthy into his 40's . He wont be able to walk without a limp

Kenyon Martin should've been playing before now as well. Woodson's minutes management is almost as bad as MDA's was.

The concept of blowing it up is just crazy. We are finally a good team. We have 2 stars and are moving in the right direction. We are a better team without amare. Why can't you be happy with that? Enjoy making the playoffs instead of wanting to blow it up and go back to the lottery for no reason.

I disagree you dont think he wouldve got hurt playing just 20mins? A few extra mins is not the reason he got hurt. 3 games we are talking about. He was going to be shut down regardless. At least it didnt happen right before the playoffs and we can work to establash an indentity heading intonthe playoffs. Start Novak

Yeah you can't blame Woodson. He did as well as he could.

Interesting how Stat goes down and suddenly Camby is healthy enough to play. Why has Camby gotten zero run this year? I know he has supposedly had foot problems but its smells funny.

Why does the media keep referring to Amar'e as having a $100mil dollar contract? After this year its 2 years and $46mil- hardly the most devastating contract in history, especially for a team that would be over the cap anyways.

It's devastating because it takes up almost 1/3 of our cap space per year. We can't add anyone or trade his contract until the year after next IF someone wants an expiring deal. And even then we'd have to take back a longer contract most likely.

"Only 46 mil" LOL. He takes up almost half the salary cap!
The last two years of Rashard Lewis' 118 mil contract were only about $30 mil total. I guess his contract wasn't that bad after all.
