The Knicks don't need that trade off. The best player on the team can get his own shots. STAT and Chandler may benefit some but that doesn't outweigh the need to limit TOs. That becomes even more important in the PO. The NYK can beat any team in a seven game series if they win the TO battle.

No they can't if they shoot 5-30 at guard.

Stating that Felton is even near Lin at this point is just ludicrous

Imagine if Lin were still with us? Lin loves New York. He loves the Knicks. Imagine Lin and Carmelo together just tearing it up night after night.

Carmelo didn't want to share his toys with lin.... he felt it was "ridiculous" that lin was offered that kind of money... so there you go...

None - they all do

That's not even close. I've watched some HOU games and Lin's steadily getting better. Maybe it was the knee. He's fighting over screens, keeps his man in front of him. He tends to look at the ball a bit too much and looks to help too much sometimes, but even that is getting better. Felton, on the other hand, is a turnstile.

We should've kept Lin, not necessarily for this year, but he would've been a future piece. But it's history at this point. Ride this current cast out until we figure out another bungled way to rebuild on the fly.

Lin sits in the bench to end games. That tells me all I need to know.

But he definitely can get to the basket better than anybody we have at that position, and believe me this would do wonders for the Knicks considering the amount of threes they like to take. I guess Lin’s contract doesn’t look “that ridiculous” anymore as someone claimed last year.

Not true. He's weak going to his left, his jumpshot is iffy, and his defense is poor. He's gone, will we have these posts go on forever? I guess it's the nature of posting boards. Now a real crime was drafting Kenny Walker and not signing Bernard King, the year after Ewing was drafted. See? Old news and spilled milk. I got over it, you can too.

Yup. He holds his own. He can defend 1-on-1. His problem is with really quick PGs like Lillard, Parker and CP3. Everybody else, he holds his own.

Look at the division there is/was Rondo and Dwill. Those guys toasted LIN. Also Holiday is no slouch. Lin offense is not the problem. This team has more than enough scoring. Its the bullfighting defense that's the problem. Before he got hurt it seemed like other teams were picking on the dude. See Dwill for an example.

Lin is a better defender than Felton - there I said it!

Trivia:

Woah, how did Felton get put in to this discussion about Lin? I will say that Felton seems to be more careful with the ball. Lin seems to play more reckless. I make this statement without looking a stats so I may be wrong. Woodson has placed focus on limiting TOs. Which is another reason along with his D as to why he is a bad fit for the NYKs.

Felton is in this discussion because he replaced Lin.

Lin turns the ball over more but also creates FAR more.

Felton is also not that much better TO wise. Felton for the year is 2.3 and Lin is 2.9. Felton career at 2.6 and Lin at 2.6. Looks like the same career numbers for TO.

Melo is just as good if not better than Darant. The one thing that holds him back is when he goes into crybaby mode. That throws his whole game off. The great players use adversity to their advantage. I think about AI. For better or worse that guy thought the whole world was out to get him. George Karl channeled that to make AI the fiercest competitor in league history. I'm gonna stop the thread derailment but I just had to say that.

How do the Minutes stack up? In that time span. Felton would be an upgrade if he is averaging more mins.

Its just my opinion but 99% of what holds Melo back is mental. All the talent is there. When Melo is on his game the combo of outside shooting and drives to the basket make him one of the leagues best if not unstoppable.Once again I know people have different views on the subject but this is my opinion.

Wow- I wasn't aware of this Jeremy Lin character, until I read his name in the first post. Apparently he used to play for the Knicks and there was some sort of controversy when the Knicks didn't match his contract offer. Does anyone have any more info about this?

AS i have said Lin has much higher upside...This year stat-wise they are the same but Lin's game might be better suited to NY. The thing is Woodson did not trust him.

Felton is OK but he is what he is.

Lin has better court vision and drives the ball better. Outside shooting will improve as will all else.

While I respect your opinion, I believe you are wayyyyy off, think about this, Durant at 24 years old has already established himself at the 2nd best player in the NBA today, Melo at 28 still having maturity issues sometimes.
Obviously the mental part of the game is what separate the truly great players from the all-stars, and is not as easy to overcome, the player must be a TRUE STUDENT of the game, talent is not enough.

Jeezus Rice, we lost to the champs by 6.

We were up by 14 in the third, why does a lost like that drag up bull**** like this???

Lin isn't even good 75% of his games this year.........makes my head hurt.
