He's getting paid $57,127,680 during the next 4 seasons.

That's an average of $14,281,920 per season, for a player in which has been in the league for 8 years and during his first 7 years in the league? Not a single postseason game along with 7 years of losing (below .500) basketball.

20-44.
26-32.
22-59.
32-49.
28-53.
35-38
22-35

Heading into 2012-2013 David Lee had a career losing record of 185-310 during the 495 games in which he's played in. 125 games below .500. He's been nothing more than a stat compiler on awful basketball teams, but one of the best PF's in the game today? Not a freaking chance. He may put up numbers, but he doesn't impact the game. Not with winning ways he doesn't.

I F***ING LOVE D-LEE. The guy always gave us 100% and got better each and every year he was with us. He is one of the better PF's in the game today. He may not be a franchise player but he is a damn good player. I HATED to lose him but understand why we did. STAT changed the culture of our franchise and if not for him Melo probably doesn't force his way here. However, ask anyone today he they would rather have between D Lee and Amare right now any basketball fan would go with Lee.

18.9 PPG
11.2 RPG
3.2 ASP
80% FT%
.513 FG%

The kid has worked his arse off to become the player that he has become.

_________________ sucks because his team only won _____ games.

_________________ sucks because he can't make it out of the first round.

You can't win a championship with _______________ as your best player.

Can we as a board just agree that judging a player by his team's record or playoff success without considering other factors is a bit flimsy logically?

If you're going to criticize David Lee it might be easier to target the fact that he's not a good defender, lacks shot blocking ability, etc.

Vague references to "winning ways" aren't as useful as specific observations like:

"sulks when he doesn't get the ball"
"fails to box out"
"doesn't get back on defense because he's complaining to the official"

or some hard data

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

This is how you criticize David Lee: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/52811/courtvision-david-lees-interior-defense-a-k-a-the-golden-gate

I wonder what Amare's #s would look like.

I think it was done because if melo was in the identical situation melo would receive this type of criticism.

Yeah I remember. This is exactly the line of "reasoning" that was used by some folks to criticize Melo and I said the same thing to those people too.

In my humble POV it doesn't really make sense to criticize Melo because of what the Nuggets as a team could or couldn't do. To me that's what old school reporters and guys who currently write for the NY Post, Daily News etc do. Traditionally newspaper reporters back in the day couldn't watch every game, access video, access stats etc.

Now people can. It adds more to my understanding and enjoyment of the game when posters on UK, bloggers, reporters etc. go out and do some research.

SHOW me a dude being a poor defender.
Look at his #s and say something like "Even though he has been a career 33% shooter the number of 3 pointers he's taken has increased" to illustrate a players lack of improvement to his game/poor shot selection

u feel me?

Yea he dropped 13/16/7 dimes in fantasy tonight,

so he can drop the numbers but the Warriors are in a death spiral and they will miss the playoffs if this keeps up, Bogut unbelievable, it's over,

David Lee can't get suspended in a playoff race like that, really terrible thing and now he is a tarnished man, no one wants to even look at him, but hopefully he can learn and get over this,

Bumping this due to liking the title.

Hopefully we don't see a "Why did we let DLee slip away" thread any time soon...

googled "David Lee" and "block" and got someone's NBA video game highlight, and a bunch of "__________ with great block on David Lee" vids. Not very scientific, I know.

Better yet, do the search with Stat. Interesting...stuff. <---- Wow, that's bad

Next up, I'm going to do the definitive DLee google search/statistical analysis on "most avoidances of possible posterization"
Goldengate, indeed.

Like I said, have a nice career, avid Lee! <------even worse...
