Cool. I'd be really surprised if the Knicks gave up Shump and his potential on both ends of the floor for a role player who doesn't defend.

Wow- that would be a first! I hope other agents don't get that idea too- imagine that, every off season a FA's agent would start a bogus rumor saying that their player is interested in signing with the Knicks!

There is zero chance of us getting Dudley- it just isn't going to happen- stop torturing yourselves.

Exactly. Either we're all in for this year or going to rebuild. And based on the composition of the roster, all in right now would make more sense.
Either way, I don't think Shumpert will ever be as good as Dudley is right now.

Guys, when did Dudley become a world beater? He is a very good role playing SF. Shumpert is a good role playing SG right now. You get rid of Shump and we are right back to giving Kidd major minutes and having to play Brewer.

With me, trading Shumpert has less to do with Shumpert and more to do with how losing him affects the team.

Dudley played SG last year and would likely play that here. Right now, we have a shooting guard who can't shoot anyway.

Exactly

I like Shrump just as much as the next guy but if there is any truth to this, the Knicks need to pull the trigger.

Shrump has the POTENSHULL to be a solid NBA player but Dudley has already PROVEN that he is.

Just wait til you find out he's a small forward playing out of position.

yea I can see the complaints already. PHX clearly has a weakness at SG and are forced to play Dudley there. Which explains why they are going after a true SG with a wealth of SFs

In what sense is Shumpert a true SG?

What is he than a PG or SF? I will go with SG with potential to consistently knock down open shots and shutdown opposing SGs

Neither. On offense, he is a guy who doesn't belong in the NBA. On defense, he can play any of those 3 positions.

Would you say Sprewell and Artest didn't belong in the league their 1st two yrs?

He shoots 40% on 3s and is averaging 3+ assists per 36 minutes. What else is there that an SG needs to do that he doesn't?

Too bad he doesn't play 36 minutes.

He plays 30. You think the next 6 mpg would lead to lowered production? That's the same flawed "James Harden" argument that was being made a few months ago.

he plays 30 on a losing team, he is part of the reason why, not even sure why Harden is brought up, they are not comparable.

I don't think it is fair to use this year's performance thus for to evaluate Iman, coming back from an injury
However, it is also not fair to evaluate him based on the potential we saw from him pre injury either, since he teared both acl and mcl as major constructive knee surgery

Either way it is a gamble, either gambling that he will reach the potential we saw of him from last year although but he has the intensity and worth ethic needed
Or gambling by trading for a solid role player but not a lock down defensive player that Iman could become once again
Will he be an AP and improve dramatically this year as the season progresses?
He is not a SF, the position he is currently starting in, not at least until he regain's his former shape/athleticism/speed/quickness/confidence
So far he is far from the player that we saw last year and I think we will need to give him more time to evaluate him than this year's trade deadline

Dudley is a solid role player in the right situation but he is not a ball handler/create/facilitator at the SG position
It is kind of like the trades we have done in our recent history, trading out future for the better of our team now, and we are in "Win now mode"

Why Phoenix would do the deal, they get a young stud and the team is rebuilding.

A back court of a healed Iman Shumpert and Goran Dragic.

Phoenix has the best rehabilitation people in the Association ask Grant Hill J.Kidd Steve Nash and many others.

Knicks also know Shumpert has a history of knee injuries dating back to his college days.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

its not as crazy as it sounds...but if i had to vote, id say give shump (and this team as its built now) a chance. he just got back from a major injury...hes young enough to recover (i.e. APeterson)....ive always liked dudley...i think hes a good shooter and a good role player...but does he solve any of this teams problems? (perimeter d, lack of rebounding?)
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Nailed it. If anything we should be going after a young athletic big to backup Chandler incase Sheed and Camby can't finish the year

No one is "torturing" themselves...relax. Having a civil conversation here which is a nice change of pace from what usually goes on here.

I think it would be a good trade for the Knicks but if it doesnt happen, I'm fine with it. Looking at contracts, I dont think it will happen...

I'm a big Jared Dudley fan... I'm a big Shumpert fan too. Maybe the Knicks could get Dudley for a pick? Or has Dudley been playing all year the way he played against us?

Dragic is a fine player but I'm not into that. The Knicks have played outstanding basketball when Felton has been active

Answer: need more foot soldier-types, but at what cost? Not sure.

Be sure to read rumors carefully. When someone SUGGESTS who a team could offer for a player, it doesn't mean that's who is being offered.

In other words don't automatically assume Shumpert. I hope Alan is right!

I'd think long and hard on this deal. Dudley fills a big need. Shump has a high ceiling but the Knicks have a 2 season window. If Shump is being shopped you'd hope Knicks could get a better player, but if not, I think Dudley plus a pick or maybe Kendall Marshall might sell me. It would be tough though. If Shump can get to a place where he trusts his knee he'd be vital to us.

again the Knicks would be out of their minds if they didnt trade Shumpert for Dudley--Dudley is perfect fro this team. I doubt HIGHLY doubt the Knicks could get more. We need to improve there is no doubt about that. Shumperts potential is not enough to not try and improve.

I would trade Novak for Dudley but that's about it. Shumperts ceiling is way too high for Dudley and that would not put us over the top. Shumpert has the potential to be an all star sometime. No way do you do this. Have some patience.
