Likely hood of what could take place...

Here's how I see things ending up

Miami
Pacers
Bulls
Knicks
Boston
Brooklyn
Sixers
Bucks

The reason I say this because we have to play the Pacers 2 more times, Boston 2 more times, Miami 2 more times, Hawks 2 more times, Golden State 2 times, Clippers 2 times, OKC 2 times, Utah 2 times, Cleveland 2 times, Denver, Philly, Memphis, Portland...

I see to many losses here because the majority are road games. Gotta hope we end up a 2-3 seed and for Bulls/Pacers/Boston/Brooklyn cancel each other in the first round somehow...

Bynum/Granger/Rose be lurking

if you end up being the division winner don't you automatically qualify for one of the top 3 seeds regardless if your record is worse than a second place divisional team? i mean we are looking like a division winner right now. worst-case scenario we are a 3rd seed and i think we can handle atlanta or milwaukee and then be up against it in round 2 which is the true measure of success, the first round being nothing but a revenue generator.

No. Division winners are only guaranteed a top 4 spot, but really it matters little because records determine home court.

See Boston winning their division last year but playing the 5 seed on the road in game 1.

Division titles really hold zero worth, a main reason why Boston in particular doesn't even hang them up in the rafters.

Only the 1 and 2 seed are truly worth, the others are not not much of an advantage.

hey listen you're preaching to the choir: i have done this research and really, based on the history, the only two spots worth achieving are the top 2 seeds. but yeah i guess if a division winner has a worse record than a second place team in a different division the former is a 4th seed-- not good as the chances of winning the conference and the finals drop off appreciably at the 3rd seed and then precipitously as the 4th seed.

All i was doing was answering the question you asked, not really that serious.

There is a reason why division winners are slotted 1-4 and not 1-3.....because overall records determine homecourt...seeding is irrelevant.

Knicks were 10-15 a year ago at this time. The Knicks were looking at missing the playoffs and sending a lottery pick to the Rockets at this time last year. It is hard to believe some aren't recognizing the dramatic turnaround that has taken place in ny.

Boston and LA put up trophies regularly, New York doesn't.

Unacceptable. Sure we got the Yankees and they have more chips than almost every other cities' sports franchises put together - but it's just not the same.

At least us winning the title would be NEW.

And, besides, who wouldn't want to see David Stern, in his final year as NBA commissioner, hand the trophy over to Little Jimmy?
