Melo is getting this team wins. Team looks night and day difference when he didnt play.

Melo took the ball to the rim to win the game. I dont care if he has to take 30 shots. That's less shots for people who cant shoot.

It's funny. A thread about what Melo's NOT DOING so we can win, and it's posted while we're 27-15.
So what do you do on Knicks fan board when we're at the top of our division and beating the Hate regularly?

YOU BUMP TRADE MELO THREADS, THAT'S WHAT YOU DO!

You create threads about Melo the liar, which is particularly useful after a game winning shot is hit.
The further this continues into our winning season, the more the baiting by the Somberfew is getting stale and old.

Wait for each and every loss to tell everyone what a pile of steaming, smoking sheehit this season actually is!

.642 ball? Nahhhhhh, it's all about the deficiencies of Mr. .470!

Early on, the homer faithful were told to calm down, to realistically wait and watch the games. That this pathetic house of cards would fall apart soon enough, and all us StarMoobies would be begging to go back to the cap space and yoot era. Or at least to start wandering slowly over to where things are plainly Black and white!

Guess what fellas? It's almost All Star time!

Woody's working the two slightly fragile star injections back in slowly. NO IT'S TOO SLOW!!! Woody's in cahoots with Evil Starphucque ISO DOLA-MELO! Melo will soon be driving Amare out of town, and force Iman to be his chauffeur! You read it here first! Forget Melo throwing passes to Stat! It's all posturing to build up Stat's trade value!

Our old team is breaking down in fits and starts! Look at how young the SIXERS ARE! IGNORE THE STANDINGS, YOU STARCRAZED MOOBYGROUPIES, INDIANA IS THE PLACE TO BE!!! Look at DENVER!!! James Harden!!! Now that's a 21st century, fashion conscious true star of the future! Look at his FG% and TS%!!! That's what basketball's all about!!!! .500 ball with real EFFICIENCY! With never ending dreams for NEXT YEAR!!! Follow those Rockets to the upper limits!

agree. Melo is the best ever, a beast and a true MVP. Best thing to happen here since Ewing. Move over Francis, McDyess, Marbs, Penny and the slew of other studs to take the reigns of franchise player since the big fella left.

If funny, around and before the trade I read a lot of Nuggets forums etc.

Fans were 50/50 on Melo. Half thought as many outspoken here do, that Melo saved a lotery franchise, gave their team a star and a player that would lead them to the playoffs year after year. The other half (and I assure you it was quite even after seeing the same pattern year after year) where quiet happy to pull the plug on Melo and get the best they could for him. Selfish player, doesnt defend, doesnt win the playoffs.

Probably a great place to be again.
Especially now, since we're saddled with the worst scoring option and closer since Ewing, Spree, Houston or LJ.

Man, I sure miss not going to the playoffs. It funny, I remember sitting here, on Knicks forums, thinking IT, Marbs were so much more fun, didn't you?

And yes, Melo sure has shown exactly the same productivity as

Francis, McDyess, Marbs, Penny

Excellent, in depth comparisons you have there. Very enlightening.

Wow, even more somberism. Yawn....

not somber at all minion. Knicks are awesome. Its all because of MElo the great.

As for the Nugget forums I just wanted to get a feel for what people were saying about the guy, his impact, etc

I actually dont have the problem with Melo you think I have. He's good. I just havent accepted him as our lord and savior so as a poster on ultimateMElo.com my observations are often blasphemy.

Yes of course. Melo's good. He's as a good in your world so far as StevieBlunder, McWhere'sWaldo, Vaseline Dynasty, and the WrongHardaway? Right, nothing somber there. Quoting you in less than 15 seconds is getting tiresome, fish. I know, I should try something else.

If you just hate Melo, it's okay. tkf, dk, 3G don't have any problem with maintaining that outlook. You have company.

I know, I know, at least they HAVE draft picks and flexibility and potenshull!

sure they have gained steps.. they are as good as we are now, they will probably be better than they were last year and they have room to get better.. they have picks, thanks to us, flexibility to get better as they see fit..... so YES, that is a HUGE step upwards..

right now we see threads of the knicks needing to make some moves.. LOL.. what moves? we have nothing to improve this team with... You have to factor all of these things when assessing a team...

No thanks Fish, not particularly in the mood for bait today.

I dont bait or comment on individual losses generally. Best teams lose 20 games a year, the best players have bad shooting nights. These things happen. The questions are about the makeup of the team and the goal. If the goal is to win a title do we have a style of play that wins in the playoffs? I dont see relying on low % volume shooters nightly as that winning style of play no... Do we have a level of defense that can win in the playoffs or lead to a title run? Again... NO. We may have in November and early December but its been a good month since we saw anything close to that.

So I would ask the minions... is it Melo's team or not? Is he in the MVP "discussion" or not? Cause if those are both YES then he should be held accountable for the drop in quality of play since the beginning of the season. If he's NOT and MVP candidate and this is NOT his team then fine.. lets look at whole roster.

Minions want to have their cake and eat it too! Which is it Anji? NYKMental? Is Melo the leader and face of the franchise or just another player on the Knicks.... do tell...

Nuggets record is right next to us, while their team has many of assets, picks, young players, and will continue to get better

While Knick's have a small window to compete with many players on their last legs on the way to retirement
However, it all comes down to 2015 FA, if we can retool with the right players in that FA class, along with making 2 good drafts with it with our 1st round picks
Whether we continue to add "ALL STARS" like Love/Aldridge/Lebron *all could be UFA vs RFA*/Irving *unlikely*,

lesser extent of Rudy Gay *has great potential but having a poor season on STATS this year* I think Gay's athleticism/skills are right after Durant/Lebron
Another F would be Chandler Parsons *RFA though so unlikely with Irving*

Dragic/Lin/Rhondo/Tony Parker

Marc Gasol/Bosh/Boozer/Varajo/Hibbert

and

still need some cap friendly signings like Amir Johnson/Ed Davis/Osik/Glen Davis/Bledsoe
*KG at 10-12m per game, with Rasheed Wallace's role for the veteran minimum*
*Steve Nash at Kidd's role as mentor/leader*
They both maybe old but if we can sign them for veteran's minimum to about the 3m *MLE* type money, they bring much experience/leadership on and off the court

Tyson Chandler in his next contract will need changes if we keep him
Would like to keep him but have him play a smaller role by then to extend his career, limited minutes about 20, keeping him fresher, and still a leader on and off the court for DEFENSE

I think Tyson Chandler would be due for a big drop off by his next contract and is not worth $10m+ for multiple years
He is taking a beating on his body entire Knick career and has injury problems throughout his career
We never added a defender that compliments him like JJ did last year
While Rasheed Wallace/Camby were added, they are too slow to play the PF, to be the good help/weakside defender that JJ was for us

Most importantly is Melo's ability to opt out one year earlier before 2015 and if we give him a "MAX" extension, it would leave us with little flexibility to add talent and build a dynasty roster for many more years to come
That is the difference between "MAX for Melo, is like 20-25m+ per year" vs a "max deal for Harden at about 15m *13.7m-17.7m* per year
If Melo can take much less money, like 10m-15m for 1 year in 2015 with player options so he can opt out, in order to attract more quality FA, parlaying them, and forming our core with quality ALL STARS/STARS/Role players, it would be a HUGE difference in what players we can attract to NY

I have no problem with giving him a Joe Johnson like deal AFTER we are able to build a core/dynasty but NOT before it *especially if he opts out earlier* because it leaves us with little to NO flexibility to attract FA's in the 2015 FA pool
If we can pull a Miami/Lebron/The decision signing *ALL STARS* with each making a little less but making it back up in endorsements here in NY and the be the favorites to go after a ring

I would much rather have Rudy Gay at a much lower cost *15m or less* than to overpay for Melo at 20-25m per year

One more thing fish, I am on the Denver boards as well.. guess what you don't hear? Fans talking about missing carmelo... Honestly, I think most of them were happy to see him go, and are happy with what they have now, because they haven't lost a step..

Because maybe they have MOVED ON...

The better question is, have they gained any steps? Talking up any .600 seasons soon are they, tkf? Title contention? On they're way to the WCF? Those low first round draft picks going to emerge as the next Kobe/Lebron/Durant/CP3?

I know, I know, at least they HAVE draft picks and flexibility and potenshull!

sure they have gained steps.. they are as good as we are now, they will probably be better than they were last year and they have room to get better.. they have picks, thanks to us, flexibility to get better as they see fit..... so YES, that is a HUGE step upwards..

right now we see threads of the knicks needing to make some moves.. LOL.. what moves? we have nothing to improve this team with... You have to factor all of these things when assessing a team...

hhhmmm

Their best players, Faried and Lawson have zero to do with us. INTERESTING ...

Who has to do with us?

Gallo
Wilson
Curry
AR (miss him dearly)
Da MOZ

So far, there is nobody that we gave them that is making them better. There have been no picks that we have given them that has made a difference as of yet.

FARIED and Lawson - nothing to do with us

That iso stuff will not work in the playoffs when can sit down and seriously game plan to stop him..while melo continues to defy the odds and go 1 on 3 with the occasionly pass..you know that won't work no matter how much you love melo..

Gallo has been a gross disappointment. I have no interest in knocking down former players - I loved Lin and like Chandler. I liked Gallo but he has been extremely underwhelming.

Nobody in their right mind would consider Gallo better than Faried and Lawson at this point (unless there is an agenda or, that you are the one doing all the voting)

Gallo is still a good serviceable NBA player but a bit of a bust.

RonRon wrote:Nuggets record is right next to us, while their team has many of assets, picks, young players, and will continue to get better

Ron, all of this sounds good, but in order for the knicks to move forward after this starphuch is to completely purge this team.. give it a good old enema.. if you are talking about going after guys likelove, or even lebron, you are going to have to let those guys lead.. any plan that includes keeping carmelo around will not work with those guys.. and honestly, if carmelo opts out, we should get on our knees and thank god for that.. carmelo will not attract any free agent here that will make this team better. The type of guys we need, will understand that this guy is hell bent on being the man, holding the ball, and not playing any defense... just time to make a clean break.. honestly...

The knicks need space and picks, we gave away so many picks, we really need to hit it big with a young stud FA if we can... I like the idea of a rudy gay, a marc gasol, even a veteran tony parker might not be a bad idea, but after this era we are in now, we will need a complete purge.. of everything and everyone on this team.. if you want to keep shumpert, if he proves to be a good piece, then fine.. He is young, defends and still has his best years ahead of him... other than that, after this year I don't think there is a player on this team you can retool with, or rebuild with....

I would keep my eyes on kevin love, I would keep my eyes on rudy gay, I certainly would kick tires and see what portland plans to do with LA, I would keep my eyes open for marc gasol.

NYKMental? Is Melo the leader and face of the franchise or just another player on the Knicks.... do tell...

anyone? anyone? Bueller?
