Pablo will be fine, but Camby n sheed are cause for concern....Eh, hope for the best.

We also have to add the injured as possible concerns moving forward. Amare, Shump, Felton.

EDIT: Also forgot about KT.

You can rest assure Doc made sure his players were aware and had them key in on Melo. Melo gets frustrated & has awful 6-26 game and KG mouths off in his own little deranged way and Melo took the bait, hook-line-and-sinker

So were they not gonna key in on Melo before that? Does it really take some pregame comments to motivate a coach to game plan on defending the opposing team's best player?

No but it does provide added motivation. Melo has had some great games against the Celtics. This time they were going to rough him up

The only one who got physical with him was KG and all I've been hearing the past 2 days was "KG does this to everyone and Melo knew this". Now you're saying that KG only did what he did because of Melo's pregame comments? Which one is it?

It's not a which one is it....it's okay I was motivated with my play and(troll you with trash talk) before the game...... now you gave me more motivation(I may go at your ex wife when I trash talk you) oh and get ready take a couple elbows to the ribs when I do.

Stop trying to soften the blow of Melo's ignorance. No Sammy Davising or Fred Estairing around the actions Post Game

A little extreme comparison, I don't think it would get to that point with Carmelo and KG, especially with all the security around.

Isn't that what that link article is about. Doc Rivers sticking up for his player?

I could care less what Cary Chow and Bruce Bowen say, they're talking heads like the rest of the media.

Yes, you Melo haters make tremendous arguments.

I would love to be in a room or sports bar with you if the Knicks somehow win the title and Melo somehow gets Finals MVP.

Just to see your awkward facial expressions, that would be priceless.

WTF are you talking about?

Nevermind, I have to get ready for another blow out Knicks loss tonight.

Actually Garnett does look for things like that for further edge did you not hear his rants from him last year...It's obvious you don't follow this sport closely...

Playing without starting point guard Rajon Rondo and sharpshooter Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics still had enough to take down a Dwight Howard-less Orlando Magic team on Wednesday, scoring a 102-98 win at the TD Garden. The victory, keyed by a dominant all-around performance by Paul Pierce (29 points on 14 shots, a career-high 14 assists with just three turnovers, five rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes), clinched Boston's fifth consecutive Atlantic Division crown, which will either give them the longest streak of divisional dominance in the NBA or, if the Los Angeles Lakers can hold off the Los Angeles Clippers in the Pacific, a tie for that mark.

That's a division title in each year Allen and Kevin Garnett have been Celtics, if you're keeping score, and Garnett's pretty proud of this one. He heard us all downplaying Boston's chances and the surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer did what he always does — turned it into motivation. When it was time to answer to a postgame question about what this division title means to the Celtics' players, he took the opportunity to revel in the moment.

"Never count us out," he answered. "I mean, you guys called us old, over.

"You know, I read some of your pathetic articles and some of your lousy analysis," Garnett continued, pausing to slowly look back and forth over the faces of each member of the media surrounding him. "It's opinion. I mean, obviously, you don't know what drive is. We thank y'all for those articles. Appreciate it. Because it lit a fire under us."

I won't presume to speak for Kelly or Eric, but I'd like to say: You're welcome, Kevin. I am glad that my pathetic articles and lousy analysis could help.

&

BOSTON -- Fresh off a turn-back-the-clock performance in which he posted game-highs of 28 points and 14 rebounds, Celtics center Kevin Garnett opened his postgame news conference by firing a shot across the bow of Hawks co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. for derogatory comments he made about Garnett on Wednesday.

More From ESPNBoston.com

Angry and feeling disrespected, Kevin Garnett stood up, put the Celtics on his back and got Boston into the second round, writes Jackie MacMullan.

Garnett's effort helped Boston top Atlanta 83-80 in Game 6 of an Eastern Conference first-round series Thursday night at TD Garden and ended the Hawks' season.

"First off, I want to say thank you to the (Hawks) owner for giving me some extra gas tonight," Garnett said. "My only advice to him is next time he opens his mouth, actually know what he's talking about -- X's and O's versus checkbooks and bottom lines."

Speaking at an event in Atlanta on Wednesday, Gearon Jr. lamented the lack of foul calls in Atlanta's favor, even on the heels of the team's Game 5 triumph that forced the series back to Boston.

"We don't get any calls, which I know everybody always hears," Gearon said. "But I'll give you a stat. Last night, we are playing this old physical team. They are old. I know what happens when you play basketball: Old guys foul. Garnett is the dirtiest guy in the league. We are playing Boston (Tuesday) night and they had two fouls the whole first half. We had five times that and we're athletic."

Garnett took umbrage with both the "old" and "dirty" parts of Gearon's comments. On the latter, Garnett noted, "We're not dirty. You have to understand the word 'dirty' in this game is very defined. Going under guys, trying to hurt guys, ill intent -- that's not how we play basketball. We play very, very respectable to the opponent, to the city we're in. We play with a lot of passion and with force. It's the playoffs. I haven't been here trying to hurt anybody and neither have my teammates. I found that comment to be a little rude and out of hand, and I wanted to address it.

"Just because you got a bunch of money doesn't mean you can open your mouth."

As for the notion of being old, KG sounded off again.

"I don't want to come off kind of wrong, but I really go with my craft and I take it very seriously," he said. "I guess being 35 -- soon to be 36, not 37, (19)76 (birth year), look it up -- I put a lot of work into my craft. I take it very seriously. I always have, since '95, since I've been able to come into the league and it's almost like you guys are shocked. Like this ain't what I do every day, like this ain't what I was made for. It does come off disrespectful at times. I put a lot of work and time into this, and there are certain levels I expect from myself. ...

"I take this very seriously, so you guys calling me old, that number defies. You have no idea what you are doing when you say those 'old' comments. I appreciate that. I don't read your columns, but it gets back to me."

Yes Garnett feeds off stuff like that.

Yes, Garnett feeds off stuff like that. After the fact. Very convenient. Year-old articles.
And I don't follow the sport because I don't read articles about Kevin Garnett?

Yes, without press clippings, KG would be a model citizen, right Mr. Allthings NBA?

I acknowledge Melo made an error in trying to confront Garnett. He shouldn't have gone to the bus tunnel. He's deservedly punished.

On the other hand, could you put yourself in Melo's shoes for once? KG crossed a line involving his recently estranged wife, probably knew about their separation, and here is the end result. I mean he's human, he bleeds just like you and me. It's not the first time an athlete has lost his cool. Things like this happen. I remember Camby punching out Van Gundy instead of Danny Ferry during the MLK game. Heat of the battle, emotions run high.

Melo is guilty as charged, I've said this numerous times. All I'm saying, I can see where he's coming from.

No it was honestly posted for you to listen what a perennial in the Scussin DPOY and multiple NBA champion Bruce Bowen had to say. Who has been accused of being a dirty player(doing things to get an edge and in your head) and had many of barbs thrown at him by the opposition explain how a true professional should handle himself in the heat of battle. I mean he would know of all players...... they advanced to one of their chips because of the lack of composure the Suns showed in one of their series.

Exactly!!! I wonder if all these Melo apologists would be ok if he pulled this crack during an elimination playoff game. Melo gets suspension and the Knicks get sent home, AGAIN! It's ok cause he was just being human, gimme a break!

"Stop making excuses", "stop trying to soften the blow" - both things you constantly keep saying to me which makes me think you either dont understand what my point is or that you react to anyone who doesnt **** on melo with hostility. Im not trying to soften the blow or make excuses.

This is the same KG that called Charlie V a cancer patient when Charlie had no pregame comments about him or the Celtics. So i'd have to assume that KG would have stooped to that level regardless of Melo's comments or not. Hope that was clear enough for you.

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.
Mello suspended for tom
