Of course he would have.

Why do we actually expect loyalty out of players? Teams and fans are not loyal to players why expect loyalty back?

JR Smith bleeds the blue and orange and I believe that even if a poison pill was offered he would not take it. The only thing that would be important to JR Smith would be that he starts and after the second year he would have a bail out clause. He is a New Jersey boy who love the Knicks. Lin gave us the poison pill and if we would have kept Lin it would have been very difficult for Melo to be who he is now. Making Lin some sort of hero over Melo would be a hard pill for Melo to swallow even though Lin can't be compared to the greatness of Melo.

How could u make a post about such a statement?

1) WE NEVER OFFERED LIN A CONTRACT....

2) I seriously do not think JR Smith's other deals this summer were much better than 4m or so, what OJ mayo got....

3) The test for loyalty is this summer, if JR continues to play this way, especially if he and we perform well during the playoffs...

WE CAN ONLY OFFER HIM 5m per year or so, if he continues to play like this, his loyalty will be tested, and stop making comments Lin look like he did something to screw the Knicks.

What world do u live in, if someone offers u a contract that will pay u more, u will not take it?
Lin did not have an option to sign the first offer or choose the 2nd one, come on,

If you were Lin, u would not sign the only contract that was offered to u, and the most possible that u could make, *with the match up to a billion dollar comments*????
Lin did not give us the poison pill, the NEW CBA, and The Rockets offered it...

Ron Ron says PAPA BEAR's brains are fried...

So Lets see will Melo make much less so Knick's can have more cap money to spend to build on a Dynasty?
Your comments just don't make sense, Lin did what was best for his career, Melo already made plenty of $$$ in endorsements alone, I don't expect him to take much less to stay a Knick either, in fact I think he is expecting a Joe Johnson like deal....

Melo threw Lin under the bus with JR Smith, has ANYONE on the Yankee's ever mentioned AROD's contract?
IT was uncalled for and unprofessional, especially since they were "technically still team mates"

I believe Melo was jealous of Lin and he learned a thing or 2 about using the crowd/fans for their support and energy that Lin did last year....
It inspired him to learn to get his team mates involved more than just scoring, playing DEF, and getting the crowd on his side....

Especially the turning point was STAT to Melo MVP chants turning to boos when Melo went 1v1 and took bad quality shots....
Woody strokes Melo's ego and gets the most out of his production since any of his other coaches in the NBA, on both ends,
we are missing Melo's DEF along with his post up/ability to spread the floor...

Melo is currently our best mobile PF defensively on our roster
PF's that post up consistently and effectively are almost extinct in the league

I don't understand the need for constant low blows, just because they are no longer Knick's

Ron Ron You sound like a half ass Knick fan. We had a meeting with Lin and we said that we would match any sinceable offer and more. It was a bad offer. Lin didn't want to come back to New York. Yes I'm what you call a strong ass die hard Knicks fan. What you are is a half ass Knick. If the first offer to Lin was the poison pill the Knicks would have taken it and signed Lin. Anyway the way Lin is playing he better make the most of these 3 years because he will never get an offer like this again.

good post tho, I agree with most said here..

one thing I would like to add, if you sign an offer sheet you are telling that team you want to play there, not that you are using them to get more money from your former team.... so when Houston came back with the revised contract with the "poison pill" what was lin supposed to say? NO don't offer a contract the knicks can't match, I am just using you guys to get a better deal.. LOL people need to be reasonable.. the knicks didn't offer lin a deal.. mistake #1, and they didn't match the offer from Houston , mistake#2..

douchebag behavior by both he and mental midget JR smith... If I were lin, that certainly would have been a turn off for me...

OOH now here comes TKF the Melo hater who only comes out when the Knicks loose or to bash Melo. Fried brains is what you have. Anyone would wish for Melo to miss a shot even if the game depended on it sounds like a person that needs to go to the Nets and be a Nets fan. Also go see a brain doctor and take Ron Ron with you.

If you think JR Swagnuts wouldn't take a poison pill if someone offered, then IDK what to say to you,

No one, not a single player in the NBA would turn down more money, come on man you think he wants to play in New York so bad that he won't take bigger money elsewhere?? hahahaha watch when this contract runs out and he goes to highest bidder,

point is, loyalty only exists with fans, not with players, this is fantasy land papabear you are living in maybe you are hibernating!!!

JR couldn't get a poison pill because no one would give it, his value is 2.8m$ to start the season, it's all he could've hoped for, if he could've gotten anything else it would've been there, I think he was in China last year,

Now, after this season, someone will overpay for him I think.

To my mind, he's a streaky up and down player, when he's on he's looking like an NBA Legend, when he's off he's looking like a bum,

Let's enjoy the ride right now and be prepared to say goodbye, I just hope Knicks isn't the team to give him a max deal, because Dolan is already probably thinking about it.

There is no loyalty involved here, professional sports is not a family business where loyalty can be questioned. Professional sports teams makes decisions based on finance's and contracts not loyalty this is why few players stay with the same team who drafted them throughout their entire career.

Lin wanted more of the pie and I would think J.R Smith would do the same. For him to stay and and not get a new contract what he's worth would be insanity .

Papabear is right, Lin talked to Yao Ming who advised him on coming to Houston. Ming told him it was best for him.

Words are speculating that Jeremy Lin has bought a new house in the suburbs of Houston, a rather small 3-bed room unit that cost US$ 130,000.

Jeremy Lin had taken some advice/recommendations from Yao Ming and had chosen a neighborhood close to where Yao Ming previously lived in Houston.

NYTimes: Yao, for his part, thought the outcome was ideal.

“I’m so glad the Knicks didn’t match the contract,” Yao said. “Houston is a good place for Jeremy to come to. It’s a good fit because both sides can provide the best opportunity for each other.”

Yao recalled that the environment in a smaller market helped make him a better player.

Here are how Jeremy's new house looks like externally and internally.

My house cost More than Jeremy Lin's wow !

That does look nice. I'm surprised it was only $130K. Houston must be dirt cheap.

Texas, Arkansas etc you can buy a mansion for $250,000. Not here in the northeast thats for sure

Pittsburgh is the best of both worlds - still northeast but much cheaper than the east coast cities. My guess is that that house in a nice neighborhood would be about $200K.

I know Lin wasn't loyal to his longtime agent when he was seeking his new contract. He wanted to cash in on his incredible run. He chose not to play for team USA. Nothing wrong with any of this but Lin was going to get paid.

After being cut and waived a few times before getting a chance I have no problem with Lin trying to secure a financial professional future.
