Name calling is kinda lame huh? Im glad your enjoying the season. Me too! If telling yourself Melo is the best and has always been the best makes the season more enjoyable for you then by all means... but getting pissy and disgusted when people have a different view? Equally lame. If your so disgusted by what you read on an internet forum maybe you should unplug. Just a suggestion.
This probably would mean more coming from another post not as sour as you ole fishmike. What did Stat do for you to "earn dem stripes" and have you proclaiming him the knicks "real" best player all summer??? At 20-7 we're still waiting for him to even practice with the team during the season. Hell that's almost as good as the fabled 21-9 stretch you like to still bring up every once and again (team was actually 19-11, close though).
Seems like Stats MVP claims didn't bother you then on a 20sumthing and 20 sumthing Knicks, why so serious now about another Knick???
You can be a real critical thinker when you want to be and it's a little disingenuous now though to be claiming your a hard ass who is tough to sway when your still waving those pom poms for a guy who had a nice 40 sumthing games almost two years ago.
Any way, we all know the heart wants what the heart wants, so that is a good enough answer fishy. It's a lose lose to argue with some one with your position in the end.
sour? Thats funny... furthest thing from it.Want to know why I feel that way about Amare? Glad you asked. Knicks had I believe 7 years of horrific unwatchable basketball. No FA would sign here (why would they????).
In come Amare, with his crappy knees and negative, this guy isnt worth it naysayers. What happened? After a poor start Knicks went 21-9 over a 30 game stretch. Knicks were the 3rd youngest team in the league, but they were winning games. They beat many elite teams during that stretch included Mavs (would be champs), Bulls, Melo's Nuggets, OKC and Spurs to name a few. Who was leading the NBA in 4th qtr scoring? Amare. Who was leading our young and inexperienced roster? Amare. Who was getting MVP chants? Amare.
This guy breathed life into a totally dead franchise. So thats how and why Amare "earned his stripes" with the Knicks. Then we traded a good young team and picks for Melo who quit on the first coach and the following year was told to get in shape by the next coach. Also? until THIS season Melo added ZERO wins.
So one Knick came in and produced what you would expect an all star and leader to produce.
The other Knick came in accomplished nothing but kill chemistry (twice).
Now I am very glad Melo is playing well and the Knicks are playing. I never EVER said I hoped he would fail here. Only that he has yet to do anything worthy of the jock riding that he gets around here from his loyal minions.
You can agree with my viewpoint, or you can disagree with it. I dont give a fart in the wind. But you cant say anything I am saying isnt true.
Everything you pointed out about Amare can be said about Melo. After getting off to a horrendous start, and MDA quit, this team looked to be in shambles as we sat outside of the playoff race last year. Then, during the month of April, Melo leads to the Knicks to a 9-4 record (12-5 overall with Lin sidelined with injuries). Melo wins player of the Month in April averaging over 30 a game and and when its all said and done, Knicks earned a playoff berth with Stat and Lin in street clothes.
During that memorable run, Melo had some tremendous games; triple double vs the Celts, (35, 12 & 10), 43 pts and the game winner vs the Bulls, etc. In addition, he has carried his strong play from April, into this season which if you are keeping score has spanned longer than Stats run when he first arrived. Melo, like Stat before is hearing the MVP chants under the low Garden ceiling. This season, with Stat still sidelined, Melo and the Knicks have beaten just as many elite teams than you pointed out during Stats streak. This year, we beat the Spurs on the road, blew out the defending champs twice, beat Gallo's Nuggs, and the Nyets before their major nose-dive.
No you have never typed the words, "you hope that Melo would fail here," but, the fact that you continue to praise Stat for accomplishments that Melo has already surpassed while in a Knick uniform, and yet refuse to give Melo the same type of acknowledgement speaks volumes.
Just because Knick fans root for Melo to succeed, point out when he does have a good game, and dont go out of their way to place a magnifying glass over his bad plays doesn't make anyone a Melo Jock Riders. It makes them a fanatic.
