Fish, think about the past. Think about the second round of the playoffs. Try and see if there's any reason at all to be happy about typing "They will probably make it to the 2nd round" Notice you don't type "we". Let that sink in.

Seriously, what amount of happiness do you get out of pissing on your own charcoal, if the Knicks in first really even do represent your charcoal?

Would you be happier in third or fourth place and maybe fighting for an eight seed?

jrod, the Knicks do have some serious problems. No ones knocking the Knicks for being 2nd seed (well, maybe some are). Personally, im just not liking what I have been seeing from them the last month or so.

Teamball, I've been quoted for months as saying the Knicks are a good very old team, liable to breakdown, hoping for some help from two of their best players who've been MIA for the most part of the season we've beheld so far.

But honestly, 5th place in the West? Only 5 losses away from being a 5th seed in the east? The glaciers are melting faster than usual? The ozone hole is growing? The sun's too hot?

I can understand the worldview difference from people who only post about Knick problems and Melo's bridgework. And I wholeheartedly would join in the whining and the crying if we had just spent the last 4 months watching a team floundering around in 4th or 5th in the division or even fighting for a scrap of a playoff berth.

But we haven't. That's all I'm saying.

I respect that. I thought you were assuming everyone was panicking like the season was lost and all that. To me, it just seems like a lot of posters are acknowledging that there are problems and are looking for a solution rather than giving up on the team. Then there are other posters...

I agree, the trend after a hot start has been mediocre. some posters love to say it will get better when everyone is healthy and had time on the court but the fact we were winning without Amare and with injuries makes it hard for some to be excited. Kidd really stepped up but he is cooked for now. Amare is playing better and better but its not adding up.

Fans can't really find ways to implore Woodson to do things "better" or suggest trades that would add chemistry any more than wearing your favorite jersey and chanting "DFence" helps.

The Large sample after a red hot start if continues has us sinking in the standing. How far is anyones guess.

When the team does not take care of business on the court then outside factors like other teams performance start to matter.

We beat Miami twice don't mean anything going forward unless we win the other games at a good clip and improve in some areas.

The record speaks for itself and in the last 20 or so games its telling a story some of us would rather not hear.

yea.. really not hard to get is it? But your some kind of a-hole if you havent properly demonstrated and documented how incredibly joyfull this season has been after all the losing and after the losing seasons how dare you suggest your entitled to anything more? HATER! SOMBERITE! Begone Nalod with your antil Melo agendas

Don't forget my "Dr J" **** ring I use so proudly to demonstrate my N*T love!

Things are getting pretty somber around these parts!

If the team that was fighting was one of the youngest teams in the league, with cap space for max players, and future picks to build with then yes, because for me (and this is just one fan talking) the HOPE of winning a title is worth being patient for. Having been a Yankee season ticket holder for 15 years and watching them build a title yes.. the dark years are worth it. Watching the Giants do the same, yes... the dark years are worth it.

Nobody here is whining except you. Your Dolan's dream... Who needs Lin? We have tons of tradable assets to build the team! We can always trade Felton again right?

You simply cant accept someone who is as much a fan as you claim to be as simply calling it like they see it. And I see a team thats been .500 for two months, is built around a low % scorer who's teams that rely on that scoring fail every postseason, and a bunch of old guys with little to no gas left in the tank. I see a coach who 50 games into the season is starting 3 guard, a SF and a center and cant run an offense (but the last guy was an ass clown). I see the furthest thing from championship level defense (that was all supposed to be fixed with ass clown Damphony gone right?)

So go waive your happy this is great flag. Go celebrate first place this month, and pretend you havent seen the schedule in March. Most of all go puke out your cute little phrases trying to sound clever about folks that arent afraid to call it like they see it.

The real fun will be when this team fails and you see all these posters blaming the haters or suggesting they are happy and where rooting for the Knicks to fail so they could say "see I was right!." Donkeefest 2013 in full swing.

Jrod your more fun when your hoping folks die of cancer or plane crashes. Yea, those were fun days. Stay classy

I'll leave the class to you, fish. You apparently seem so much better at it. Do you have that post of mine printed on your wall somewhere? You bring it up more and expand upon it more than anyone else does. Very, very classy. Stay well and be healthy, fish.

I'm a homer, but now i'm the only one whining. Explain that one to me. I'm sure you can.
You're the queen of depression, but you're just telling it like it is. Keep telling us whining in first place and asking for everyone to abandon ship and crying over the tough schedule and forfeiting the second round amounts to the only way to approach reality.

Keep pissing your own pants and ****ting on the salad, and I'll keep waving the Division banner. Don't like my pithy little sayings? Try the ignore button. Or work on something better than misquoting posts from months ago that I apologized about and deleted.

Don't take it so personal, fish; it's just the internet. I suppose you'll get used to it, eventually.

Ooooh you called me a liar. I'm cut to the heart. And as for the therapeutics, it's truly mutual.

I'll just keep waving the happy flag, and you just keep...what is it you're doing again?

no knick fans want to see the team fail. you predictably focussed on the wrong side of the sentence to avoid the actual phenomenon that is "fun."

the fun begins when "you see all these posters blaming the haters or suggesting they are happy and were rooting for the Knicks to fail so they could say "see I was right!"

instead of prescient posters being given some credit, they will be vilified for what they foresaw and kept observing throughout the course of the season.

all he is doing is predicting the inability of others to acknowledge their own ignorance.

why bother to admit ignorance when it is so much easier, so much more "fun" to castigate others for possessing knowledge?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

ladies, please stop the bickering. i'm trying to watch my raps beat your broken down and floundering knicks on league pass again.

here's how i see it:

1. nothing wrong with cheering and looking at things with the glass half full.
2. nothing wrong with dissecting anything and looking at the things with a glass half empty.

but if you fall into camp #2 instead of camp #1, then you should seriously sit down and re-assess your stance as a knicks fan and ponder whether it might be a good idea to walk away for a bit and return later. i don't really see the fun in watching a team you are ready to criticize rather than enjoy. but that's just my 2 cents.

now back to the game...oh...there's goes landry fields forcing melo into ANOTHER terrible shot. at least you guys have help coming with sheed. oops, sorry, i copied that from a pistons board 15 years ago.

Good to have you back! You forgot #3, which is where most of the somberite group is - seeing the glass as both half empty and half full.

Lots of premature thinking going on in this thread.

The Knicks have been losing a lot of winnable games, but they've yet to actually feel desperation to win games. I think now, though, they will feel it.

The game against the Pacers will be very telling as to what the mentality of this team is.

Im far more #1. Been loving the games. Things have changed here, namely expecations. Its one thing to argue how who is better, Wilson Chandler or Gallo. Its another to argue can the Knicks win a title and is Melo and MVP?

Problem is the board has run amok by Melo's fan boys.

Anything that doesnt acknowledge Melo's MVP season and total greatness, along with ensuring every ex knick is vilified and inept is acknowledged here as Knick hate and somberism.

Hell.. the only thing that detracts from enjoying Melo himself is his fanboys are utterly insufferable.

Ive waived my rah-rah flag before. It generally ends in getting your favorte players traded and flaming first round sweeps or lottery picks going to other teams. I always love the games, and I love watching them knowing the can win any night. Whats pathetic is I have to somehow qualify this on board I have posted on for ten years, but thats cool. Thanks to the Knicks every year I care a little less and less. I call it the Dolan effect.

Half full or half empty, but being a knick fan is like this:

Don't matter which way you look at it (half full or empty), cuz when this guy gives you a drink,

its gonna spill and make mess! Look at that face real close. Jim is laughing at every every Mooby loving starphucher all the way to the bank!

It depends on how you see yourself. I see myself as an analyst who strives for objectivity first but still hopes the Knicks will win. I guess others just want to be fans without concern for objectivity. They have the right to do that but I have trouble understanding it. My enjoyment of basketball isn't dependent on the Knicks winning - that would enhance my enjoyment but I enjoy the analysis even if the team loses. It seems that someone who's solely a fan wouldn't have anything to enjoy when the team's not doing well. That sounds ****ty.

yes this is pretty much how i feel as well. since fan is short for "fanatic" i guess it would be hard to consider me a fan in that sense for precisely the reason you cite. i maintain objectivity and skepticism but this comes across as criticizing instead of critiquing. huge difference between these two terms. worse still, i am accused of hating.

i was very angry at the time of the melo trade but the anger has subsided. but look-- it doesn't mean that the trade still was not a huge mistake. but again, if i state that i am accused of remaining angry.

I criticize this team plenty, especially since they aren't playing up to their potential. Lack of fundamentals always irritates me. But I can't really be angry simply because of the amt of wins vs losses, even if we are slipping badly. I'll ride it out.

I care too much about the Knicks to be objective. Sports is a great release for emotions. I can't be objective about the Knicks especially during a game. When they were losing a ton during the D'Antoni and Isiah runs I was a bit more objective because I knew the team wasn't going to win the way it was managed or coached. Now that the Knicks are winning again I definitely have a Knick bias.

exactly. In a way its good we are losing cos i have to spend less time arguing with people over reality. All i ask for is for people to call it like it is. Beating the magic and pistons doesnt mean u are elite. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed the 5 game winning streak but i was hoping we beat the Clips to solidify it. Lets see what goes down wed vs the Pacers

but if you fall into camp #2 instead of camp #1, then you should seriously sit down and re-assess your stance as a knicks fan and ponder whether it might be a good idea to walk away for a bit and return later. i don't really see the fun in watching a team you are ready to criticize rather than enjoy. but that's just my 2 cents.

now back to the game...oh...there's goes landry fields forcing melo into ANOTHER terrible shot. at least you guys have help coming with sheed. oops, sorry, i copied that from a pistons board 15 years ago.

With the exception of perhaps 1 poster, this is pure fiction....If not, man-up and name the posters you speak of....

Getting to the ECF is not enough for me. This team is supposed to be built to win now because if the age. Lets be real after next year we will probably have to rebuild again
Losing is acceptable to the Knicks
