Personally, having Mike Woodson get in Carmelo's face about playing better defense is kinda cool.

Beat San Antonio.

not sure how much of mike woodson you have seen.. I have seen him up close for many years.. He used to do the same thing to Joe and josh here in Atlanta, and it is good he has no problem getting in the face of the teams best players.. but here is the key.. what is he going to do about it? he would get on joe johnson and then continue to let him make the same mistakes, never sitting him... he would pick on the lesser players and bench them.... all the yelling and posturing is great, but now how does he back that up.. he lost the Hawks team for a reason.. but, hey it is good to see him get on carmelo, I suspect he will be doing a lot of that as the season moves along and carmelo plays less and less defense..

i have always been critical of melo but i have to give him his due he has been playing great on both sides of the court. However he did revert to old melo for a little while last game and woody did get in his face. Now hopefully that was a one time deal and melo continues to remain focused

The Knicks have played very well in the 29 games under Woodson. He's talking about someone who's had that kind of success for entire seasons though.

62,54,61,55 are the wins dantoni had while in phoenix...

well now woodson has carmelo, a guy some knick fans think is a superstar, so maybe we should be expecting 60+ wins.. or was nash just that much better than carmelo? I dunno?

I would have been more impressed if woodson had yanked him.. I have seen woodson a lot more than most knick fans.. he will yell but a lot of times won't take action.. after a while, guys tune you out..lets just hope he has learned from that..

Fortunately Melo is a better player than JJ and JS

I think he should have yanked him if it had become a constant problem but Melo responded to the yelling so yanking him only would have caused trouble.

I do have a question though. While watching Woodson in Atlanta, did the Hawks players like him as much as these Knicks players do? I've seen you mention Woodson losing his players in Atlanta before but if he never really had them in the first place it'd be different for the Knick's case.

D’Antoni on Kobe speaking Italian “its great he can come on over and curse me out in Italian and you’ll never know”

I love this guy when he is not coaching our Knicks

I watched the entire news conference which was long as hell. One thing i'll say is that as a D'Antoni supporter I had a feeling he would eventually get a good gig, but this is insanely good. People around here can hate on him all they want, but MDA got the last laugh. Not only is he back in the NBA, but with a great organization, great players and a new knee. Life is good for MDA. He was all smiles and looked thinner and healthier. He had that look of a guy saying "i'm back bitches!!!"

In the end MDA has KOBE on his side. They've known each other since Kobe was a little boy. This isn't a Melo situation here. Coaches need the support of the best player and on the Lakers MDA has Kobe who will not allow anyone to ignore MDA. Remember when STAT was speaking out in the press about guys not buying in? That's not happening in LA! MDA has Nash on his side too and he's the one with the ball.

He could go undefeated and win 7 championships in LA. It still wouldn't change the fact that he was really bad when he was here. He got the last laugh when he resigned with pay. He is done in NY and things have been much better since the first day he left. Good riddance. Glad his lazy @ss is on the left coast.

Do you think he employs advance scouts in LA so he can hand his players folders of other teams tendencies or do you think he just ignores scouting altogether like he did his first two years in NY. He is already saying he doesn't call a lot of plays because the ball should move. You know that he doesn't prepare for opponents specifically and was called out for it by his peers.

You simply don't understand what MDA was all about. The Lakers job is the situation he is meant to be in. When you give him talent he makes it even better. If you give him garbage that is just a waste of what he's great at. That's why he has been a big help on the Olympic team. Nothing you say can change the fact that a franchise with a great winning tradition and and impressive roster just hired the coach you think isn't any good. You call him lazy, but none of that matters if he can get the Lakers to hum like a fine tuned Ferrari. People that REALLY KNOW BB, respect MDA and that's why he is coaching the Lakers now.

The only thing that mattered to me was how he did in NY. In NY he lost a lot of games. His teams were brutal every year after training camp. Can't imagine anyone being more ineffective. Jim Buss got his man. I believe it was Will Leitch that said, 'you or I could win 50 games coaching this Laker team'. His lack of preperation/move the ball/ other teams have to adjust to us/ mentality didn't work in NY. Maybe his squad in LA is good enough to overcome his shortcomings. Four hofs seems to be the magic number for him to make it to the conference finals.

MDA wasn't the problem here in NY. For some reason you fail to ever acknowledge just how bad the situation was in NY. You have to look at what the franchise was looking to do and how Owner, Management, coaches and players all had different agendas. The difference now with the Knicks is that the agenda is the same from top to bottom and the talent is in place. You don't seem to understand how important those factors can be. MDA is not a coach to squeeze a few more wins out of bad teams. There are other guys better suited to that. Some coaches excel when they have bad teams but are inept at handling talented teams. MDA is a guy that excels with talent. We didn't really give him what he needed here and on top of that for whatever reason Melo and MDA didn't click. That doesn't make MDA a bad coach. Just a bad fit here in the situation we had in NY.
