Pretty clear you want to win with Melo you must surround him with people who hold him accountable. A lot of them.

In all fairness, the guy was getting in shape over the summer to put out more effort regardless of who is on the team....Why are people so willing to give others credit for what that individual does...Melo spoke about playing this way all summer...Now he is showing it...

because thats been the pattern his whole pro career. I guess 3 games and some internet chatter dispells that?

What you do think when Melo bangs and destroys in the post, then chucks up a couple contested 3s? Right out of the Antoine Walker school of shot selection.

I predicted 50 wins and expected this group to be very good. The question is do we have a style of play that will win in the postseason?

Nice to see the team playing well

Melo worked hard over the summer to come back in shape...Has noting to do with JKidd...And I don't believe the Knicks have the pieces to win a ring...I think they need Amare to play like Amare can to get over the hump...Amare as well, to his credit, worked on his game over the summer..Not because of JKidd either...If you want to give some one credit for motivating them, give it to the coach..He challenged both players to come back more prepared...Melo looked like he has and Amare did in his only game...

Wow, you really do need to chill out. I usually caps people's name. If you think someone would actually spend time on a message board of a team they hate, I don't even know what to say.

This has been my thought for the past three months, as I read endless: "Hate Melo" "Hate Dolan" (okay, I concede that one) "Hate the trade" "Hate Stat's contract" "Hate old man signings" "Hate having no future, no potenshull, no draft picks, no cap space" "Can't follow this team anymore" "My loyalty has been abused by this team" "Hate Melo"

Thanks, but I am chill. Chill and Happy!

It's just my glee-filled, faith-based opinion, Bonn. No need to get upset. Move on to the next post.

seriously dude, you are not going to change anyone's opinion of carmelo.. for me, this team is playing well in spite of carmelo and his bad shot selection.. I will keep it real.. I can't stand dolan and I share the same dislike for carmelo... if carmelo was to leave today and amare and shumpert come back, i would buy into this team a lot more.. I would actually find the experience enjoyable.... that is where I stand.. doesn't mean I hate the knicks.. I don't hate the team, just not excited that we have given ourselves a one year window and no real future.. but this team currently is playing hard and together and that is good.. is it a championship team? I don't think so, but that is what we paid for when we made these changes, so anything less for me will have been a waste of our future and assets.. but anyway... no one here hates the knicks.. may have hated and still hate the moves and direction....3 wins doesn't change that for most jrod, but hey, people are happy, you are happy... that is all that counts.. right?

MElo is MElo... dude aint changing. You just hope doesnt shoot you out of the games come playoff times. Hopefully we get a 2009 ARod type performance so we can at least get one chip while this donkey is here.

Knicks were smart surrounding him with guys who defend and know how to win. Too bad we dont have some young guys along for the ride

Most of those thoughts are reasonable and derive from love of the team. For example, I do hate what Dolan did to the team I love. I do hate giving $100 mil to Amare. I wouldn't say I hated Melo but I do hate the approach he had (until about 25 games ago). You know why? Because it was hurting the team I love. You seem to hate hate. Maybe there's no such thing as being hate-free?

Weren't u carrying MDA and Donnie Walsh's torch as well who signed broken down Amare, which by the way might just cost us a chance at a ring..I'm hoping he still has something left...U are still talking about Gallo this very day...MDA won't prove me wrong...Gallo shot 1-9 from three the other night...Yet u think he can replace Melo and still be 3-0...If it's not hate, it certainly not a sense for the game..

good read. i like the way melo is playing to start the season. wish he would cut down on those 3-4 "irresponsibly nutty attempts" per game but who's perfect? perhaps like JR Smith, you take the good with the bad. over these three games there's more good in melo's game and mentality than i've ever seen.

good observation on his "hockey assists"

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

won't you point out guys like kyrie irving, james harden, etc... you use the term rookies and Young talent and then you only post the guys we had.... kind of misleading.

with that said, the season is early and I expect all of those getting playing time to do well.. heck jeremey lin is doing very well not sure why you are knocking him...

the obsession is, when you are trying to build a winner, it starts with young talent and developing young talent.... period...at some point that is how you build... not sure with the obsession with old fading talent and bloated contracts...

Please see the Big Three in Boston. And their chip. And please, don't "Rondo" me. He wasn't counting as part of the Big Three back then when KG was first trying to channel Bill Russell.

And I suppose you'll counter with Paul Pierce was once a "young, developing talent."

Without Rondo they don't win that chip. He was not part of the big three but he sure as hell was what got them over the top.

BIg baby also was a part of the rotation.

You have to have a combonation of both.

I like him because he defends.

I don't like him because his offense is pretty awful - hopefully that will get better with time. Ronnie Brewer is making me miss him a bit less (for now).

We like Knicks. Isn't that why we like shumpert? If shumpert is on the IR in Charlotte, are you even talking about him? Do you even effing know who he is? We all like the Knicks; that's why we're here, and not over at ultimaterockets.com, right? Or am I missing something?

and BTW, Welcome to Revisionist History 101. Where what Rondo is now (compared to the quick aging of the Big 3) also counts for 2007. What put the Celtics over the top? his 10 ppg and 5 apg? On no, the Celtics are going nowhere in the playoffs without Rondo's extra ONE assist per game? Where have they gone since his star has risen dramatically?

Please. Weak. Please check the rest of the trade. Again. Let me know when anything changes, I'll be listening. Right now, all I can hear is less than middle of the road talent that we "gave away".

NO!! I like shumpert because he is a solid offensive player, improving tho and a very good defender already with the chance at becoming a special two way player... I don't care what team he is on, I like him.. I like good players who play the game the right way, don't care what team they are on... Of course we can like him more because he wears a knick uniform, but if he were on another team, his uniform would not endear me less to what he brings to the table.

Knicks were smart surrounding him with guys who defend and know how to win. Too bad we dont have some young guys along for the ride

I dont think I will ever understand the obession some people have over rookies or "young talent".

Not doing too hot...and if they were still here...I bet you guys would be bashing management to trade them for "star" player

won't you point out guys like kyrie irving, james harden, etc... you use the term rookies and Young talent and then you only post the guys we had.... kind of misleading.

with that said, the season is early and I expect all of those getting playing time to do well.. heck jeremey lin is doing very well not sure why you are knocking him...

the obsession is, when you are trying to build a winner, it starts with young talent and developing young talent.... period...at some point that is how you build... not sure with the obsession with old fading talent and bloated contracts...

Please see the Big Three in Boston. And their chip. And please, don't "Rondo" me. He wasn't counting as part of the Big Three back then when KG was first trying to channel Bill Russell.

And I suppose you'll counter with Paul Pierce was once a "young, developing talent."

rondo says hello...

And BTW.. why do we like shumpert? do you like him only because he is a knick? that seems to be the case around here....

Exactly right.

Boston was all about the big 3 in their championship run of 2008. They won "despite" Rondo. He emerged from their shadow eventually, but haven't been able to win it all since.
