Having him in and out of the starting lineup for ANOTHER season is only messing with the team chemistry. If Amare is willing to play the 6th man role off the bench fine. Otherwise he needs to go.

Good luck in finding a player who never gets injured! Maybe we could coax A.C. Green out of retirement...

He is almost impossible to trade. The Knicks can only include 2 mil in cash in a trade, his contract is uninsured and they don't have tradeable picks I believe until 2016. Also, not sure when it goes into place but the new cba may require the Knicks to take back the exact same amount in contracts because they are over the cap.

Plenty of bad contracts around the league. We just need two of them.

Iman will have to be included with Amar'e in order to move him, I just can't see a place where.

The sad part about this, if we try and trade for an expiring(none I see a team agreeing to) we're still right at the cap, are not far enough under to renounce our exceptions.

You mentioned a Golden State trade before right?

They have Bogut, Jefferson, and Biedrens. 3 bad deals.

GSW probably keeps Bogut at least 1 season......Biendrins and Jefferson is definitely a yucky deal but doable on paper but probably can't get done with just Stat's because of his long term salary so how about this 3 way....

GSW trades

R.J.
Biedrins
2nd
_________

Receives

Amar'e
Mullens
Bobcats 2nd
Cash from Knicks

GSW receive backup in case Bogut goes down plus an asset

Knicks trades

Amar'e
Shump
Cash
_________

Receives

Tyrus
Jefferson

We get an old vet and low IQ player to fit right in with our team. Save about $18mil in total salary removing Amar'e. Jefferson reunites with Kidd.

Bobcats trades

Tyrus
Mullens
2nd round pick
_________

Receives

Shumpert
Biendrins
GSW 2nd

Bobcats save money on Tyrus deal about $8mil total plus receive young talent in Shump and another asset

What do we actually gain from trading him for bad contracts? At least he's a good player when healthy.

Yeah you have to reason along the lines of chemistry with his bad health and anchoring the team down financially. Yo-Yoing him into and out of the line-up is way past old and our window is already short...The more he goes down the more severe and longer he'll probably be out. Have to know when to cut your losses.

Hence Houston got rid of K-Mart probably because of the same reasoning

Amare's deal is toxic sludge. 20 per with shaky knees. Shumpert is coming off an ACL injury.

Golden State needs a center. Chandler and Amare for Biedrens, Jefferson, and Bogut.

Golden State gets a front court rotation of Chandler, Amare, and Lee.

We get salary cap space in 2014.

But Amare is my favorite knick and he made us relevant! I can't part with him.

I see you want to dump more long term salar on them...not bad. GSW still says no unless you ease the financial burden. Need to find another team.

Here's what Riley said about Bogut on the Bucks deal

"We're extremely excited to acquire a player the caliber of Andrew Bogut, who we think is certainly one of the top centers in the NBA," general manager Larry Riley said. "He will add an element of toughness to our team and will provide us with scoring, rebounding and a defensive presence in the middle. We've lacked those elements in recent years and think that Andrew's addition will be a key factor in the growth of our team."

Being that he hasn't played any meaningful games for them and supposedly is healthy, he goes nowhere for now. Not until they know what they do or don't have. Now that they have Bogut I doubt they are as high on Chandler anymore.

I do like the approach of dumping more salary in any potential trade.

The idea of needing to trade Amare with Chandler just shows how awful the Chandler signing was/will be.

Tyson is worth the money he got but for this? Ouch!

Amar'e played 78 games his first season here.
Amar'e played 46 out of 60ish total games last season.

Stoudamire's stats as a Knick are around 22 ppg, 8 boards, 1.5 blocks, high fg%, good ft%.

All this crying about Amar'e not playing games and/or being terrible is inane and nonsense. It is annoying that he is gonna be out a few weeks but the hyperbole is absurd at this point.

Of those games played he hasn't been 100% bro. He's more than likely played those games at 60-80% tops, which means you aren't getting the best Amar'e when he steps on the court.

Look no further than him gathering himself more, not getting up as quick, and getting his shots pushed back in throat around the rim 1 every 3 games.

TRUE!

Until he actually misses most or all of a season, I don't wanna hear about trading him as if he's just some bum. We've actually had a few bums on this team before and Amar'e isn't one of those guys. Some Knicks fans take out their general frustration on STAT when he gets hurt. What will they say if he comes back and balls out the rest of the year? People need to chill. There's no other PF we could get that can match what Amar'e can do when healthy. I prefer to hope and pray he gets healthy and can be there when we need him at the end of the year.

There is also no PF that is as awful defensively. Or, that can't/won't rebound.

Perhaps if they actually did this right and initially judged him correctly, as the rest of the league did, we would not have made the egregious mistake of signing him.

He is not a bum.

Any guesses as to how many 10+ rebound games Amare has left in his career? 20+ point games? I would not be surprised if he never reached double digit rebounds again.

He first needs to be able to play for you to be proven correct, no?

Or, if he played, he could probably get to double digit rebounds ........... per week.

Man you people are too much. We've known forever what Amar'e weaknesses are. He's not a perfect player but he does have an impact when he's healthy. The thing is this team has added some help at PF so that he won't have to wear himself out. That could be a huge help at the end of the year if we can keep his minutes down to a reasonable level.
I get upset with his awful D, but I also know that he can be dominant on the offensive end when we need him to help in the playoffs. We have the kind of roster that can help him be healthy in the playoffs and extend his career overall. Just too soon to be giving up on this guy.
