another beat the hell out of a dead horse thread.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

we looked overmatched vs the heat, the heat were behind in both series to the celts and pacers.. they didn't look lost..

our formula is taylor made for the heat, iso melo will never beat that team...... injuries or not...

Its Jeremy Lins fault the knicks were overmatched byvthe Heat in the playoffs. You know all those turnovers he had and all the waving off of melo and amare because he is selfish. He went back to houston for a bigger contract after the knicks disrepected him all offseason and he is evil and manipulative and greedy and is racist

Cut it out!!! No one is bashing Lin. Bottom line, even with Lin, we lose 4 games to 1 to the Champs. They were flat-out better than us. Heat lost Bosh and struggled to get by Pacers and the Celts but once they got healthy again they beat the Thunder 4 games to 1 just like us...

Anybody who thinks that playing in a small market is just as profitable as playing in a big market is dumb or being naive.

It's such a no brainer, that I won't even put into details how it makes so much $ense..

Yoa didn't have much of a choice when it came to where he wanted to play, and that goes for any player who was drafted by a small market team..

You think if Yao had his choice to play in Houston or NY, he would have chose houston..

Tyson chandler, Amare and Melo have recieved much more endorsements since signing with the knicks..

I think the days of being in a big market are a myth if you have global appeal. Lebron was in Clevland for goodness sake!

Im pretty sure Durant is doing quite well in OK!

I would agree that local advertisements would do better in a bigger market.

Partly agree. Winning in NY is the key.

Eli winning in NY has made him more in advertising than it would have elsewhere. He is number 2 (QB) after Peyton but Peyton has a far better personality.

Would Jeter have been the same Icon in Minnesota?

I guess it also depends on what city/state, the sport etc ...

Plus, as the author pointed out which is very important...Lin isn't a superstar...It's his story that got all the coverage, rags to riches PG...That coverage could have only occurred in NY where 100 beat writers are showing up for every game...Linsanity, if it occurs again won't get the same billing in Houston as it would in NY...

Iconic status is not the same as endorsement revenue. Cal Ripkin was an icon in a smaller market.

Jeter played in how many world series? Playoff games in his career? He got to the national stage because of the post season, and that stage is on a much wider audience.

Peyton became the biggest name in the game in Indiana. Farve/Rodgers in Freaking Green Bay! Yao was a global sensation in Houstan!

Maybe Media and bloodthristy fans in NY would have run Yao into the ground sooner?

The Media gives fans what they want!

Well ... you are forgetting the asian voting block so it might happen but not necessarily on merit.

I didn't forget them..Just pointing out the many PGs that are better than him...He may get voted in and that is if Houston win a few games...Remember Lin is American born of Taiwanese decent which is in conflict with main land China...Yao was huge in China before he came to the US...We shall see....

As do most Knicks fans. Winning the Championship is the ultimate goal for all fans. To at least have a chance at it. I could care less if Lin had more tattoos than JR or knew more bible quotes than Tim Tebow. The decision was strictly business from both sides of the coin. Lin and Houston had a number(2nd number to be specific) and the Knicks had a number(first offer) in mind. Both couldn't meet in the middle, so the Knicks let him walk end of story. Lin or no Lin, he is not the deciding factor in winning the Knicks a Championship...it's the horses in the stable that are already here, Melo and Stat. They're the multiple all stars, the huge contracts, the faces of the Knicks, not Jeremy. It remains to be seen if Lin could've directed traffic and set up our 2 stars up, as he only put up numbers when 1 player or the other was out, and only did it in D'Antoni's predictable system(which teams figured out after seeing Lin the first time around). Notice teams that were caught by surprise by "Linsanity" the first time around, beat the Knicks with a vengeance the 2nd go around. Dallas, Toronto, NJ all avenged their losses and Lin gradually lost his effectiveness until D'Antoni lost his job.

Bottom line is both Lin and Knicks are both moving on for the better. Lin will put up decent numbers on shyt teams, and may even garner some of the Chinese vote for the All Star Game. Personally I think "Linsanity" feels like a bubble burst or fad(Tebowing? or Planking?) that will go by the wayside pretty soon. People will see he's "just alright" not as great he appeared and not loaded with potential as some people seem to think. To think he has to go up against Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Goran Dragic, Ricky Rubio....good luck to him! Might even be a more ghastly sight than the Heat game...YIKES!

I love Melo but his is right. He absolutely quit on the team because of MDA. To blame those losses on Lin is ridiculous.

Linsanity ended against the 7-23 hornets, the game that Melo didn't even play in.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201202170NYK.html

But yeah 8-18 and 9 turnovers was Melo's fault.

Grevis Vasquez looking like Nash out there getting 11 assists.

Amare was actually having a solid game, but Lin decided f that.

that game he shot linsanity down all by himself.
