Rare event that you can't bank on. It would be like pointing to a guy who didn't goto college and won the lottery as the formula for sucess over getting an education and not playing the lotto. If it were that easy then we should release KIdd and Felton and Prigioni and sign 3 PGs taht have never had NBA time and see if they'll turn into Lin. We may get 3 Jeremy Lins!

Yeah, I wasn't impressed by him at all during the Olympics.

How many 3rd string PG's make an impact? Usually it's some kid that you give garbage minutes to. If he has to play he'll be a dependable vet off the bench.

Why would we have to release Prigioni? He actually has less NBA experience, zero, than Lin.

Pirigioni is like 35. But I wouldn't get rid of him.

Its good to have Prigioni available in case someone gets hurt, like Kidd. He showed that he can effectively run the point against elite NBA talent. Its not like we're building the team around him. My guess is that if Prigioni shows anything in training camp he'll be closing out quarters in the first half and it will be mostly Felton and Kidd in the second half.

I don't expect him to get off the bench unless call of duty due to injury occurs. Maybe he gets 5 min when Kidd has a rough nite (the previous nite in his Hamptons abode).

I hope the guy proves me wrong and can make his mark on the NBA to a lessor degree. Seems to me he is taking the Vets min and a pay cut to ride the bench. He wants the NBA experience I suppose.

He is getting the undrafted free agent minimum which is quite a bit less than the vets minimum. He will make 488,000. Next year.

And as we all know, the league is just chock-full of pass-first PG's on the extreme cheap.

I think it makes sense cuz if you're trying to win a title you don't want to have to "teach" at this level. You don't have to worry about Priggy being able to handle the situation. People are worrying about the wrong thing. We don't need him to be able to score. We need him to distribute the ball to our scorers. Not many teams have a great 3rd string option. We have a steady guy to rely on.

Agree with most of what you're saying but shouldn't teams always be trying to teach? Seems to be part of what makes San Antonio awesome. They've taken numerous players and developed them.

Also: Tony Taylor Tony Taylor Tony Taylor

On this Knicks team the key principles are signed for 3 years, there's no real reason to be in a teaching mode with this team. Also Woody is old school like his coaches Red Holzman and Larry Brown. He's not into the rookie thing that much. It makes his job infinitely more easy having players he doesn't have to "teach" how to win. If you're the coach of a team trying to go deep in the playoffs you really don't want a young team or young inexperienced players. VET TEAMS win titles.

Larry Brown wasn't into playing rookies because they didn't "play the right way". He was all about teaching his players how to play the right way if they wanted to get burn.

Yes the Knicks have a 3 year window with their current squad. I don't see how that means Woodson and his staff shouldn't try develop a young buck like Shumpert. Shit, Woody even told Stoudemire to work on his game. Obviously players have to have the desire to improve and put the time in on their own but if my team wants to support, encourage, and most importantly GUIDE players in improving themselves I'm all for that. I don't see how it would hurt the team to try to get someone like Novak to maybe add a wrinkle to his game.

Well run organizations put themselves in a position to win titles consistently. If all it took was veterans the Knicks would have this years locked up cuz we got an old ass most veteran AARP team in the damn league.

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

If Kidd and Prigoni can both take Iman under their wings/guidance, develop him in to our future PG or even a backup PG in 3 years, it would be well worth it.
I am not so sure IF or how much Felton can still realistically improve/absorb, given his age.
IF Iman regains his speed/athleticism and continues to improve his skills with his DEFENSE and worth ethic, I believe it would greatly improve his ability to facilitate with their guidance.

I am wondering if toney Taylor ends up being the guy groomed.
