I think it makes sense cuz if you're trying to win a title you don't want to have to "teach" at this level. You don't have to worry about Priggy being able to handle the situation. People are worrying about the wrong thing. We don't need him to be able to score. We need him to distribute the ball to our scorers. Not many teams have a great 3rd string option. We have a steady guy to rely on.
Agree with most of what you're saying but shouldn't teams always be trying to teach? Seems to be part of what makes San Antonio awesome. They've taken numerous players and developed them.

On this Knicks team the key principles are signed for 3 years, there's no real reason to be in a teaching mode with this team. Also Woody is old school like his coaches Red Holzman and Larry Brown. He's not into the rookie thing that much. It makes his job infinitely more easy having players he doesn't have to "teach" how to win. If you're the coach of a team trying to go deep in the playoffs you really don't want a young team or young inexperienced players. VET TEAMS win titles.
Larry Brown wasn't into playing rookies because they didn't "play the right way". He was all about teaching his players how to play the right way if they wanted to get burn.
Yes the Knicks have a 3 year window with their current squad. I don't see how that means Woodson and his staff shouldn't try develop a young buck like Shumpert. Shit, Woody even told Stoudemire to work on his game. Obviously players have to have the desire to improve and put the time in on their own but if my team wants to support, encourage, and most importantly GUIDE players in improving themselves I'm all for that. I don't see how it would hurt the team to try to get someone like Novak to maybe add a wrinkle to his game.
Well run organizations put themselves in a position to win titles consistently. If all it took was veterans the Knicks would have this years locked up cuz we got an old ass most veteran AARP team in the damn league.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please
