He obviously doesn't understand the stretch provision.

Great investment. Pay a guy $15 million and if it doens't work out simply waive him and pay him $5 a year for 3 years. It's still $15 million but it's ok since the payments are spread out?


Then you save luxury tax $$$. 5 mil/per is pocket change for Dolan. And that's the absolute worst case scenario anyway.

Wouldn't you still pay luxury tax on the $5M/per for each of the 3 years? Or does the luxury tax go completely away if you waive the guy.

I would assume that the $5M per also still counts against the cap, which is a hit for the team too.
