generally, i agree.

not sure if i'd all it a great signing, but a good one.

we have improved two weaknesses with he and the kidd move.

We're giving up almost as much to get Camby as the Nets are to get Dwight

I am not sure if we can still pull a S&T for Kidd now though, if not the have to use the mini MLE on him.

We should call Machado right now and Henry Sims, as they will be their apprentices.

I guess Pablo is out of the equation now, time to fill up those roster spots.

Till plenty of undrafted players that can be used to fill roles.

This is a good signing if you consider what other centers are getting. The developmental prospects and second round picks don't mean anything. Camby for the next 2-3 years is a lot more valuable with the team trying to win now.

why is this a bad trade?

jorts is a tough loss, but we have no cap space and want to bring back smith (i am guessing).

how else were we gonna get the guy in a competitive marketplace for his signing?

What is our depth chart C/PF?
If Camby gets hurt and is out 20 games? Are we keeping JJ? Maybe I am not really following this but why did we have to give up two second rounders?

If LeBron James gets hurt, the heat aren't going anywhere. You bring in players counting on them to be healthy, not get hurt.

You give up 2 second rounders because you have to give Houston actual incentive to make the trade and because the Knicks won't be interested in developing players for the duration that this team is together.

Depth chart at PF/C is probably STAT, Chandler, Camby, and the Knicks will bring back Jeffries at the minimum. If somebody goes down, Novak/MELO plays some PF minutes and STAT probably plays some center minutes.

Better statement is if Ray Allen gets hurt Heat are in trouble.

Camby was more durable than Ray Allen last yr

Is that the Spanish PG? I think this means he will definitely have a spot if he wants in.

If Howard goes to the Nets he'll now have two big men on this squad who can give him problems, and more trouble for Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett.

There is also the added benefit that we kept Camby from going to a rival team.

Careful you're using logic which some of the more negative posters on here will be unable to understand.

yeah, but he wants a starting salary of 800k, without using an exemption we could only pay him 400k.

Now do you guys see the importance of inviting the top tier FA's that were undrafted to the summer league?

Management knew we were going to pull a move like this, with so many roster spots, undrafted players and their agents would prefer to be on our team as they will have a high chance in getting getting a contract and even PT.

I am not even sure we can get enough warm bodies for a 15 man roster- Tyson, Camby, Melo, Stat, Shump, Kidd, Lin(?), JR(?),JJ, Novak, Gadz or SG that's 11. Can we give vets min to 5 guys? How do we sign 4 more players? Sorry I have minimal understanding of the cap. I am assuming we sign Kidd and it takes up our MLE.

Knicks already did sign James White to a min contract about a week ago.

Ah yes! So still need 3 more assuming we get Lin, JR and JJ. So can you give the vet minimum to multiple players?

Fucking awesome. All of you guys who were bitching about Amar'e, now shut it, because our front court is awesome. If we can resign Jeffries, we have a front court of Tyson Chandler, Marcus Camby, Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Steve Novak, Jared Jeffries. That's the best front court in the entire league. Stop complaining. I like this move a lot. We have a win now team with Tyson, Amar'e, Carmelo anyway. Quite frankly, we should go all in. Let's do it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

if they were expected to play 30+ min a game...yes.

but they don't need to when you're a bench player at limited minutes.

they are ideal for this role.
