Camby's current starting point for salary, sources said, is $3 million per season on a multiyear deal. The only way for the Heat to make that work is a sign-and-trade with the Houston Rockets, who own Camby's rights. The Rockets, however, are interested in a sign-and-trade with the Knicks but not with the Heat, sources told ESPN.com.

So it looks like we have pieces they want, probably including Toney Douglas given their gaping hole at PG. And it probably means we give up Harrelson, but I don't like that too much. If Greek Papa was coming next year it would be ok, but this still leaves us with only 3 legitimate 4/5's in STAT, Chandler, and Camby. Need another one on the cheap.

Jeffries will probably be back at the vets minimum.

would it be wrong for Jeffries to want a deal like the one Reggie Evans got for 3 years 5m from the Nets?
I think we have his early bird rights, while it isn't much of a difference for a 3 year veteran minimum deal, it gives stability to a player.
We should make more of these type of deals to balance our roster out for stability.
Players like Cory Brewer and Nick Collison are role players, but they are needed to insure their future on the team.
They might not play big minutes but there roles are just as important.

JJ has been with team for 1 year, so no bird rights.

And if Reggie Evans got 3 years for 5M, that's a hint over the vet min.

no, its actually a year and half. Remember JJ got bought out by Houston to rejoin The Knicks.
You don't remember fishlips missing layups vs Boston?

Ken Berger tweeting Knicks had their meeting with Camby and it was "very productive" but nothing agreed to. Heat, clippers and nets have interest. Doesn't really mean much- sounds like a Knick source gave the info and they're bound to say it went well. Still, I'm hoping it's true.

I think the NY Media is once again getting are hopes up over nothing. They say Houston prefers are sign and trade of Tony Douglas and a 2nd rd pick ,3 mil cash over Miami's offer Norris Cole + unguarenteed contract a first rd pick and 3 mil cash doesnt make any sense to me. Rockets may want Jerome Jordan or Harreslson I bet as well. A Frontcourt of Chandler ,Amare,Camby and Jeffries is a very solid group.Very tough defensivly although not 1 of them has a back to the basket game

I think I might rather keep Jordan than have Camby or at least wait until summer league is over to see how Jordan played. I am just not sold on what Camby gives you and yes I know the numbers his.

Source confirms #Knicks are on verge of acquiring Marcus Camby via sign-and-trade for Toney Douglas, Josh Harrelson, Dan Gadzuric, JJordan.

sigh. more twists and turns than the dwight saga:

Jonathan Feigen ‏@Jonathan_Feigen

A deal for Camby is possible, maybe even probable "in next 24 hours." Rockets would get back pieces, but won't be for all 4 Knicks offered.

Jonathan Feigen ‏@Jonathan_Feigen

There are reports that Marcus Camby has agreed to go to NY in S&T. Was just told "He has not made a decision." "Nothing imminent."

I just saw camby for TD, jordan, dan and jorts..which seems like an awful lot for one player who's 39

I think it is just to make the salaries work. Also, Jordan is much improved from his first summer league time with the Knicks but he isn't close to camby at this point.

Yeah, most likely, Houston had to make us over pay, AGAIN!

Camby has been traded like 5x for 2nd picks the past 6+ years

And we have payed the highest price for him at his last stage of his career.

Then again, everyone thought he would break down 5-10 years ago.
