Its like some of you don't want the Knicks to improve but simply keep the same core. While I wasn't thrilled of parting with Shump, I could see the value of having Nash's amazing playmaking skills on a team that more than anything needed direction and stability. How many times we asked for improvement at pg? Who would've been a great fit to mentor Lin?But no, we don't want Nash, no Kidd, no Felton. WTF do we want them? The same fragile underachieving team we had last season? At this point not even Lin is a certainty for us.
I'm glad we keep Shump and hope he develops, but some here think he is the second coming of MJ and that is disturbing. Make no mistake that landing Nash would've really placed us in the tittle discussion, even if general belief was we would've given up the most points in the NBA.
But yeah, we dodged another bullet, right? Yeah, we are back in the safe zone called mediocrity.
How will we improve this offseason? Have no idea but its looking less likely we will while everybody else gets stronger.
Here is how I view this: Does the addition of Nash automatically make the Lakers the best team in the west? No. It makes them better but it is very possible they go out the same way they did last year. Had we added Nash, it would be the same thing. Does it automatically make us the best team in the East? No. Is it possible we improve? Yes but it does not make us Eastern Conference Champions. No one thinks Shump is the second coming of MJ but the fact of the matter is had we giving up Shump, we would be have been doing the same thing that was deemed "brilliant" last year...Filling one hole just to dig another.
