As long as it's agreed that everything's Melo's fault, all the time, every time. And he's fat, don't ever forget that fact.

No, it's Dolan and Cablevision's fault. Melo is a symptom of the problem, not the problem per se.

for the cap room the Knicks got Tyson Chandler - A top 5 center in the game and 1 of the best big man defenders in the NBA. Carmelo Anthony- 1 of the best pure scorers in the NBA and a Top 20 NBA player. If I needed 1 guy to take 1 shot to win a game it would be him.
Say what u want how this team is constructed but the Knicks got vastly more talented players then the 1's who left it isnt even close

But together, next season, those 2 cost over 33 Million dollars!! add amare and the cost for these 3 is 53 Million!!!

Over 53 Million!

The cost for the big three in Miami with 10x overall basketball skill/durability/toughness? About 52 Million.

That's a COT-DAMN SHAME!

And what do u want the Knicks to do about that. The Heat Situation was unprecedented. All those guys became FA's at the same time and they had the Cap room to do it.Had Amare Paul and Melo all became FA's in the same year and the Knicks had the cap room we might of saw the same thing. Should the Knicks give up and not try to get the most talented players they can.People like to hate on the Knicks but im sure there r plenty of fan bases that would love to have the trio of players the Knicks have. This team can compete. They just need Lin to develop and they have to be able to use that MLE on another player

I struggle with a lot of the posts here that are anti-Melo because I am not a huge fan of Melo but he is the best player on the team and I think there is too much blame placed on him. I think if a franchise trades for a star they embrace him and play to his strengths. I think next year might be the year to judge the trade. Also, Tyson came to NY because of Melo and Amare. Stars do bring stars so I don't think that aspect of the trade and having Melo should be underrated. Melo might be the Clyde to Michael however, which puts the Knicks in a bad position with LBJ in the East.
agree on all points and Melo is an uber talented player, but his game isnt going to bring playoff wins. People knocked MDAs style that it couldnt win a title, but damn if it didnt go deep into the playoffs year after year? Melo's style of play is so easy to defend its a joke.

IF

1) Melo takes a Paul Pierce role and plays hard when the ball ISNT in his hands
2) Jeremy Lin can give us 75 games next year without wearing down

The Knicks will be a top 3 seed next year.

IF

1) Melo pouts and does his normal thing when he the offense isnt run through him
2) Lin isnt a reliable starter because his over aggressive style has him hurt
3) forced to rely on backup quality PGs we play Melo ball and watch him pound the rock nightly

The Knicks will have a couple nice streaks, win about 45 games, be the 6th seed and lose in the first round to the Heat, Pacers or whoever is around

Time will tell but thats what I see.

good post fish, but we are asking a 9 year vet and a guy who ran the coach out of town to try to change his game.. I agree if he can play more of a pierce role, that will help us, but I am not optimistic..

we made a star trade to get a guy who isn't on the elite level of a lebron or kobe... I think we gave up too much.. when you consider we pretty much ad a 40-42 win team before the trade, and now after the trade you feel we have a 45 win team, I think the trade was not worth it.. not worth the players or the picks...

The team is a 50+ win team next year. Any team in the NBA is going to have a problem winning without a PG and asking Melo to become the secong coming of Pippen was never going to work. The challenge for next season is not how Melo and STAT will mesh but rather how STAT and Chandler will mesh. I'm betting on things will be just fine. We had a small sample of the Knicks could play with Melo, STAT, Chandler and Lin and personally I'm looking forward to seeing it after a full training camp and a regular NBA schedule.

Melo is never going to be Lebron or Kobe but he's not that far off. The guy can play, plain and simple and there is no one in the league I would take over him for a game winning shot. It's not like he doesn't pass the ball. His problem is when he's passing and shots aren't falling he decides to try and do it all on his own.

I think Woody is the perfect coach for Melo at this stage in his career and we have a top 3 seeded team come playoff time next year. We went from not making the playoffs for 10 straight years to 2 straight playoff appearances. Things are headed in the right direction.

When does this line of logic ever get put to rest? Once again,
The Players : Gallo - potential, potential, while we see not even a poor man's Toni Kukoc
Felton - seriously, do we need to review more old fat jokes?
Chandler - with love from China, and now consistent injury to go with inconsistent play
Moz - how's life in witness protection treating you?

The Picks: So at 40-42 wins, you're hoping to win the lottery with your picks? Yes, by all means, let's follow the Nets method of professional basketball. That seems to be working out well. Welcome to NYC. Which is not, by the way, OKC.

Looking at these two assets objectively, and now with even greater vision given what they are almost two years later, what exactly were these worth to you?

Melo is here. Just like Stat is here. Just like Tyson is here.

These are our marbles. They are flawed, but they are ours. Get over it. Move on.

Im starting to beleive trading for Melo was a mistake?just don't know. Here's why. what do you think?Hope we did the right thing
