Just terrible...when was the last time a euro player worked out for the Knicks, and don't bring up Gallinari!

Calm the f down. He's a good long range pick. Value at the No. 48 spot.

No. 48: Knicks select: Kostas Papanikolaou SF Greece Grade
Analysis: That name deserves an A+. But here's the thing: Kostas (I'm too lazy at this point to type his last name), actually had a little first round buzz going and was a star in the Euroleague final four. He won't be in the NBA for a couple years, but does have serious potential.

well at least we won the birds rights case and now hopefully we can get lucky in FA because obviously the draft was a waste. But to be fair when you dont have a first rounf pick you're pretty much screwed

Will this be enough to bring GKF back?

We better see Greece in the finals against the US this summer, otherwise the pick is a waste, considering there was rotational guard talent(DJO, Machado) still on the board.

Complete waste. He will never play in the States.

I'm not even sure if this guy was even the best international player available.

As per Fran Fraschilla, this is the best euro out there.

DraftExpress: The Knicks take Kostas Papanikolaou at #48. Ignorant NY fans were booing it before Silver finished the Kostas part. Solid pick here.

This guy is not Manu Ginobili but he's young and talented. If anyone saw one second of Euroleague basketball you would see he is definitely one of the best, if not the best, Greek prospect. He plays for Olympiakos in Greece who just won the Euroleague title and is a teammate of our very own Giorgos Printezis. It's a smart pick that gives us a future asset at a draft position where you usually end up with garbage. No, I'm not supporting him because he is Greek, but I am obviously happy to have someone of my heritage drafted by the Knicks. And no, he doesn't automatically suck because he's European.

exactly, our EUROS hate New York.

The only one that played his heart out for us, we traded him with the rest of our assets that we could...

Please stop with this nonsense. Every year fans completely overreact to every pick. People crapped on Shumpert, Fields, and so on and so forth. It never ends.

I would hope this team has higher aspirations and better plans than having a #48 pick in its rotation if it wants to win a championship.

yep. good post. it's a solid pick.

people hated the landry fields pick, too. and then many of the same dudes wanted landry to be Rookie of the year.

everyone has their pet draft pick around here and gets all apocalyptic if it's not their guy. every year.

All Euros drafted by the NY Knicks suck. If it was San Antonio drafting I'd say you're right, but it's the Knicks. That is a historical fact.
