didn't give the Knick an opportunity to structure a deal for the same money that would be suitable for the team

the CBA doesn't give Lin an opportunity to do that

Ray Ray will only use the Knicks (like everybody else does) to up the ante.
He's not coming here.

If you consider that we claimed Lin off waivers for NOTHING but the vet minimum
and now his value is 7-8 million a year based on a very small sample size of 25 games,
why not cash in our chips for a huge profit?

S/T for Felton and give him the starting PG position.
Sign Prigioni as backup PG

S/T Lin to Rockets (or whoever else makes an offer sheet since Lin hasn't signed the offer sheet with the Rockets) for a young SG (ala Jeremy Lamb) and a #1 draft choice as BRIGGS suggested. It's a WIN/WIN/WIN.

Sadly, Dolan is way too stupid and stubborn to do this.

Holfresh,
The market will dictate Lin's worth and it already suggests in the neighborhood of 30 million.
To me, that's absurd based on a 25 game sample.
Following the scenario above, I move him in a S/T and roll with Felton/Prigioni.

Yeah I read the explanation for that...It just seems contrary to the spirit of free agency where a player who resigns with his team always can get more money from the team he played for previously...Massive loophole there if that's the case...

He can't make more for another team, he can just be offered more but we have the right to match. Basically, we can only offer a contract that's approximately the same at the MLE. Another team can offer him more based on their cap situation, but we're allowed to match.

Which is the reason his agent had him test the market and the knicks want him to get a fair offer. Not 5mil from the knicks

now Knicks got Kidd
cant we trade Douglas (sign n trade) and pull in R.Felton also ?

Felton a combo PG/SG like Iman
would be great with Kidd/Lin/Felton

we'd get rid of any other guards lingering on knicks

Then perhaps go after Carcus Camby
or whatever his name

How do we have money for Camby if we used it to sign Kidd?

Couldnt NY explore same ST with Rockets (Camby) do using T.Douglas perhaps throw in the young bigs we have either Harrelson/ J.Jordan?

Just venting possibility if Camby is on the move
