You're right. We'll never know. So how about we stop riding the Nuggets' jock and thinking their front office had some grand design in all of this and were joyously doing Bacardi shots when Melo left, relieved he didn't sign their enormous contract.

You misunderstood - I don't devalue Lawson. I devalue having a big name easily replaceable players. None of those players is remotely close to a big name. I doubt even 5% of Americans have heard of any them

You really don't know yet? Melo was never going FA. He cooperated with the Nuggs and they both got what they wanted. Knuggs wanted relative value and took the risk. Don't forget that melo had an option so he could have stayed another year.

If melo was really interested in winning he could have opted out and signed as a free agent. The knicks could have traded players to complete roster.

If it weren't for the CBA being up in the air he may have but we all know that the CBA was a big issue.
