Good to hear. I would be devastated if we couldn't get Shump to be a HUGE part of our future.

I'm sure the pain is brutal and rehabbing will suck but I'd expect him to be back to normal this time next year.

agreed, and how crazy is how far sports medicine has come... this used to be a career death sentence

The one exception - which affects my own knees - is how little is known about helping people with cartilage damage. A ligament tear is much easier to fix.

Just looking way ahead, because looking ahead hurts and sucks, this may change the whole way we go about the offseason. Shump was, to me, staying at starting SG. Now, it will be interesting to see what they decide on Fields and JR.

Doesn't Lin and Shump both have torn Meniscii? Isn't that cartilage?

I thought it was just the ACL for Shumpert but I see your right. That is more serious but he'll probably still be fine. Guys seem to recover better from a one time cartilage tear than from gradual wearing down of the cartilage - the latter being what I had in mind.

I am hugely disappointed for Shump today.

At least I am glad he got to be drafted, and really showed he can play in this league.

I just hope this injury does not suck the youth/athleticism from the kid and his career

At the same time good for Drose for signing that huge extension and hope he has a good recovery.

Both have youth on their side.

Im sure their injuries will be second guessed but the fact is they are destined to happen one day or the next.

Maybe Shump is getting all his bad luck out in one season. The early knee injury to start the season and now again in his 1st playoff game! Just unreal how that worked out.

Tony Allen came back from an ACL and MCL tear.

Took more than a season though to return to form. So Shumpert should be good by 2013-14 season.

Didn't Azibukie have a ACL tear or was it something worse?

I have become a huge Shump fan over the course of this season. I think he has been our best draft pick since Ewing (please for once don't bring up Jordan Fucking Hill). I hope and pray the kid can come out of this strong. I love his attitude, his defiance and his confidence. Yes he started badly, made bonehead plays but he has shown he is more than willing to learn. He should be in our starting back court for the next 6-7 years minimum.

He had a torn patellar tendon, which is the tendon that connects the knee cap to the other bit of leg bone- I think it's considered a worse injury. To make matters worse, and what really put a halt on his comeback, Golden State botched his surgery. So after going through over a year of rehab, he had to have the surgery again. Then go through a year of rehab again. Credit it to him, though, he kept up the rehab for a second time and after over a year, the Mavs signed him last month to a 2 year contract.

Just horrid news on both Shumpert and D Rose---takes away the feeling of the games a little for me. Well hope they both have good recoveries--so sorry to see.

had to miss the game...followed the loss but didn't realize shump was hurt like this...

man...awful news...

at first i was goin crazy, but if he can recover, which some here are suggesting is do-able...then we can survive.

it's just beyond frustrating for us knick fans it seems...

this is the most bittersweet season i can recall...

when it finally seems we get some luck (shump, lin, chandler, melo) we get this and the injuries to key players...crazy year.

get well iman!
