and, yes, he's the best knick since patrick ewing.
Ewing and decent cast of supporting players (never had the 2nd scorer until Houston/Spree then it was too late) went to round 2 for TEN YEARS. Melo has gotten out of round 1 once. Ewing played like a top 5 player every year. I dont see Melo as sniffing the nightly effort and consistency Ewing put up every night.Saying he's the best Knick since Ewing isnt the biggest endorsement. Its like being the Raptor's all time leading scorer.
Ill say it again... MElo created all this criticism with his own history and behavior. When he goes and impresses his will on teams in the playoffs and we start to advance annually the sentiment will change
i agree with what you're saying to some, but ewing caught the same flack for most of his career. accused of holding the ball too long, stifling the offense, etc.
melo only got out of the first round once, but he lost to the eventual champion in the playoffs in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. so some of it was just bad luck with seeding. he has three first round series he lost to non-champions - one to the WCF t'wolves in 2004 where the t'wolves probably had the better team. losses to the clips and jazz in the first round are probably his worst showings.
i just think the hate is too much for what he's done. whatever, i agree he should be judged on his body of work here.
