uh, he seems pretty motivated now that he's not being asked to stay out of the way on offense anymore.

"not in basketball shape" is an absurd projection.

you don't hold an all-star like danny granger to less than half his season average two games in a row not being in basketball shape.

It's Lose-Lose dealing with the Melo Haters. If he's not shutting down the opposing player every game(Granger 2 nights in a row, Iguodala, James Johnson, Gerald Wallace), then he's chucking at an inefficient rate and not playing defense. Can't win them over no matter what. You know what true Knicks fans would say, WHO CARES! Bottom line is winning and always should be. Let his epitaph and legacy as a Knick be judged by what he does in the postseason. If we get knocked out early, and he doesn't perform, crucify him all you want.

What's really wrong with Melo, is that he has a sycophantic army of apologists. I've never heard such reaches.

"Judge him from by the playoffs"
"TV adds 20 pounds..."

And so on, and so on.

I'm not allowed to half ass it at the Garden ticket booth or on my cable bill.

What gives?

Okay, 5 wins in a row not good enough? First round bye? Championship? Getting Gallo and Mozgov back?

So Melo is shielded from justified criticism (since no one here I think denies that his performance has been up to the level it should be) -- as long as the team wins? No one has benefited from that type of shielding before (not MDA, not Lin -- even when they were winning, there were complaints about turnovers and tactics).

ShelfTop seems to be asking a straightforward question. Melo is a max player and gets superstar billing -- are you okay with how he's playing?

5 wins amazing. But fluffing him up like he were an over the hill actor looking for a part time gig is simply demeaning.

Btw, Who closed the 5 games?

Nehemiah, I hate your style.

To answer MozelGovCocktail, if you're referring to Lin, he had 2 "close out" type games during this stretch. Most of the games were blowouts and JR Smith was the leading scorer for the first few games of Woodsanity.

OK.

So, is what "running the offense through the stars" looks like?

Looks good. Amare is beasting, Melo picking his spots, Lin's playing heady PG role, Chandler's our defensive anchor, Shumps, Novak, BD, JJ2, and JR form the deepest bench in the NBA.

That sounded more like a balance offence.

What tremendous love for our players. Yeah, and if I were playing for the 'bockers and going 0 for 10 each night, the description for me would go something like:
". . . and nehemiah's playing with courage".

Guess you guys would rather see Melo fail, then see the "team" win.

What statement is this? Believe me, as a true Knick Fan, I hate when my team loses games (I get grumpy immediately) usually, I watch most games WIN or LOSE and come up with my own conclusion about the games. Regardless of what ESPN, Frank Isola, Marc Berman or Steven A. Smith make you believe, I call it like I see it.

Then open your eyes. See the Knicks as they are right now. Let go of your previous perceptions, and give in to winning basketball.

Now if you want to debate the Jets drama that's a few pages worth right there, not this old Melo non-sense.

I have my eyes open, that’s why I stated that Melo is not performing like a superstar this year and the Knicks have little chance of advancing in the playoff unless he gets his game together.
Now if you disagree with that, I can recommend to you a good eye doctor around my neighborhood because YOU ARE SERIOULY BLIND.

As long as Melo shoots at least 32% from the field and scores at least 12 PPG, he is doing his job and any criticism of him is pure hate. If he can exert effort on defense, that is a huge bonus, and the offensive requirements drop to 27% and 8 PPG.
