If he doesn't need surgery in the offseason then next season he will be in tip top shape and extra motivated after the olympics. That will keep him in great condition and help his game competing during practices. I also like it will keep his mind focused on D which he has always done on the national team. There is a reason why he is always talked about being the best player on the national team.
