I think your right about chemistry. My solution...bring Amare off the bench, insert Jeffries and the defense and chemistry in the first unit will be ok. Amare was better off when he was playing center last season which, might have a little bit (not much) of the dip in production. Bring him off the bench at center to anchor the 2nd unit.

i think amar'e off the bench is what needs to happen. but it can't happen. it. can't. happen.

d'antoni needs amar'e on his side for locker room stuff. even tyson calls amar'e the team leader.

there's just no way it can happen.

i think best case scenario d'antoni plays amar'e like 28 minutes to keep him "fresh".

Sad when your fearless leader has no interest in playing defense or boxing out.

looking at his lateral movement, i'm worried it's more a case of "is no longer able to"...

but, yeah, you have a point. BUT, if you listen to the player's comments all year, amar'e has been preaching d'antoni's system - almost sounds like he's talking to melo directly. the knicks need someone to talk to melo. in that sense amar'e is needed.

Amare seems like a good guy but he is more of the problem than Melo. Melo plays defense (at least sometimes) and I think will eventually blend. You can't be a true leader if it does not start on Defense. Tyson is a leader because he quaterbacks the defense. Amare just backs away on opposing layups and dunks. And, can he once put his ASS on a guy and BOX OUT!! What the Phuck!!

NOT COOL!

sadly, i agree.

Funny that when Amare was doing well last year, everyone was saying "so glad we did not get Bosh and got Amare - Bosh sucks!". I said, maybe they should wait a season or 2 before making that proclamation.

How I drool over the thought of Bosh over Amare. In every facet of the game. Sad ... I still hope and believe that Amare will do better, he is a notoriously slow starter but he will never again sniff Bosh's jock strap.

all of that is true but he at least doesn't completely kill the team if he's crushing the rim, drawing fouls, drilling that mid range J and blocking shots giving help from the weakside.

when he's not it makes me mad watching him attempt to play D and getting embarrassed on the boards.

Same here. I think Bosh and Lee will both have looked like steals compared to the deal we have with Amare.

what makes me mad is taht we see flashes of the old amare. even last night there were a few times that he blew by people and slammed it so i dont buy that he is injured. but he just looks disinterested. He never hits a jumpshot remember last year he was lethal. His rebounding is horrid because he cant even hold on to the ball. I mean i dont know if he is still grieving which i understand but he has to focu when he s playing.

I don't know. Amare was willing to be the man in NY and took on the job with a passion and ferocity that I don't think you get with Bosh. Up until recently Bosh was called the extra 1/2 superstar to go with Miami's big 2. I also think D'Antoni needed a guy with Amare's personality to help him turn things around. Amare has been very disappointing this year so far. I am not sure if he is right physically or how far back his back issues pushed him. I worry that he might never be the same player he was last year but I also am hopeful that he is on his way back. No buyers remorse in regards to Posh here.

Well Bosh woulda been a beautiful fit here. He is young, long, athletic, has a post game and actually plays DEFENSE (yes - crappy personality but very intense)! I like Amare and he def brought back excitement to the garden however, lets not make believe that he did us a favor by coming here. 100 million helps and I did not see any other offers. Uninsured contracts are there for a reason. Insurance companies are like odds makers - they are usually right.

I said it in the offseason and I will say it again. The knicks will regret in a big way not saving their amnesty for Amare. They could have exercised it this offseason and possibly even have gotten Howard.

Huge gamble (again) that might cripple this franchise for many years.

What can we do but hope his offense comes around? It doesn't seem like after this many years in the league he'll suddenly become more aware defensively and box out/fight for rebounding position if it's not already a reflex. for him.

I agree about saving the amnesty but I love Tyson. Amare and the Knicks definitely used each other. No other team was offering him what the Knicks did and no other marquee free agent was coming to NY. However, Amare held up his end and was more of a leader then I thought he could be. I don't think Bosh was interested in being the man in NY.

If Amare is done it will suck. But I don't think Bosh was coming to NY and I don't think the 'Plan' ever included David Lee. I think the Knicks went all in for LBJ and grasped at what they could when the plan failed. If you look back over old threads you will see there was a lot of frustration over the simplistic 'plan'. I think once the Knicks went all in they had to come out of the summer of 2010 with something.

Listen Chandler is a nice player. But you can name 10 centers in the league that have a skill set that matches his. There is a reason that he bounced around this league and two teams tried to give him away.

The Knicks have no plan. Never have never will. Just think for a moment without this miracle they feel into with Lin they were missing the playoffs and likely would have been beat out by the Cavs. There is a reason you don't use your amnesty on a guy with a one year deal. Because there is a good chance if the medical staff with the Suns didn't sign off on Amare there was a serious problem,

And let's cut the **** about Amare taking on the challenge. The bulls wanted boozer and bosh was going to the heat which left amare with NJ and New York to choose from. He wanted to be the man not lead a team. If he wanted to lead a team he would play defense. The guy is one of the biggest chumps in the entire league. He doesn't box out, he doesn't fit through screens and never takes a charge and without his offensive production he isn't a top 40 player in the NBA.

So at the end of the day there guys like Lee, Milshap, Scola, etc will be more valuable than Amare. It's sad to see what has happened to his game. He was a tremendous offensive player, but his explosion is gone, he gets blocked by guards and small forwards and can't hit his jumper.

So there is no over reaction on this board. We still suck, we have shown signs of being a team that can contend then we follow it up with losses to lottery teams. Go through our schedule we should be well above .500. Everyone is trying to gel, adding pieces, dealing with injuries. It's becoming way to common to settle for **** basketball.

When you get out hustled there is no excuse.

yeah - I don't think Bosh wanted NY because he's a ***** and GLAD JJohnson did not come here. So, I am not blaming Walsh/Dolan. Don't think there was much choice.

The Amnesty was dumb - needed that for Amare protection so he does not cripple the franchise! picking up billups and then amnesty? Don't get it. I am not against the Melo trade and still think he will soar here.

i just don't know whats happened here, maybe it's the influx of all new people but god damn. people need to chill the **** out.
