Question is what happens to Balkman now D-League, overseas, 40th & 8th? I don't see another team giving him a chance.

agreed. man, I went to his draft night and that was my lowest moment as a Knicks fan. went with someone who couldn't care less about the Knicks and he had no idea what to say to me. that's the Balkman legacy

If JR ruins any chemistry, we cut him.

Well, Balk outlasted Marcus Williams in the league. At least that's one win on the belt.

Balkman still has another year after this season though, it just doesn't make sense to cut Balkman to me.
While he might not see PT at the 3/4 with

Melo
Amare
JJ
Novak
Walker

Iman probably play some with Smith
Jorts will play some PF although he is closer to a center

He is easily one of our better defenders but just can not break out of the doghouse
He is a much better defender than Walker and even JJ at times.
I would really much rather cut Bibby and have TD play those limited minutes, even if Baron Davis doesn't come back ever.
With Baron Davis, Bibbby should never see much playing time any way.
Maybe the staff feels Bibby is much more involved with Dantoni's system and doesn't want Bibby to flee to another team to help break the flaws in a playoff match for matchups/system.

Its too risky too have TD on the court even for a minute. The game could be lost in that 1 minute of Toney Douglas. Bibby is a veteran who at least manages the game, plays hard & goes after loose balls and like others have said may one day find his stroke from 3 again. Perfect world Davis comes back soon and bibby becomes insurance.

what exactly did he produce? Perhaps instead of asking everyone to relax you should post something worthwhile and meaningful (something Balk has yet to do in NBA).

Agreed. Bibby will miss shots, but he won't cost you the lead or the game like TD.

It makes sense to me- Melo, JJ, Fields, Novak, Shumpert, and Bill Walker are all capable of playing SF- heck, even JR Smith is. At PG all we have is Lin, Shump, TD (ha!) BD (haven't seen what he actually looks like playing yet) and Bibby. Even though Bibby is beyond done, he is 6 foot, and if you don't watch him play, you can pretend that he is a capable back up PG.

Plus Balkman is a player who can maybe contribute scrappy minutes if he is highly motivated and working hard- he's an effort player. He was at the start of the year, but once it became clear he was out of the rotation he went back to making no effort and playing lazy (did you see him in garbage time against the Kings?). So really, why keep him for this season or next? he had nothing to offer us, he sucked and we had a seven players capable of playing his position.

JJ provides everything Balkman does and more, even on the offensive end due to Linsanity

just put me on ignore like I'm going to put you. You get salty every time I respond to your posts so, I won't. You act like you were insulted or something. Peace.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

oh my goodness, I was ready to start the euthanize Douglas fan club. Never seen someone run the point so awful no matter what their natural position is.

Play aside, Balk is the right choice if even just for locker room presence.
Ideally, Bibby is nearing the end of his playing time, but as Hahn said yesterday, he's still a veteran and respected player in the locker room. He does play hard, even if he's not playing well. Why did Donnie ship Balkman out the first time again? Lazy practices along with "rumors" of substance abuse?

If a move won't have impact on the court, might as well do what you can for team chemistry and energy.

Mike Bibby sucked two years ago. He's not an NBA player. You cut him. We have enough depth at the position. He can't defend, shoot, penetrate or run an offense.

He couldn't hit open shots with the heat. He isn't needed.

I agree with you but, I understand cutting Balk. If Shump or god forbid Lin gets hurt, you have to have another ball handler. The ghost that used to be Mike Bibby can't be worse than the atrocity that is Tony Douglas.

Sources close to the situation have told TKB that in order to make room for the signing of guard J.R. Smith the team will indeed release Renaldo Balkman after failing to complete trades for existing players on the roster including Balkman, Bill Walker, and Toney Douglas. - Tommy Dee

What, nobody wants Toney Douglas?

Amazing.

He sucks now yes, and missed some big shots for the Heat, but statistically speaking Bibby hit 45% from 3 last year between Atlanta and Miami, and came to the Knicks a career 38% 3pt shooter. So no, he didn't suck 2 years ago, decline yes, but Toney Douglas suck, no.

Renaldo Balkman and Mike Bibby are scrubs.

Cut them both.

I'd like to know that too- some people say he's a great lock down defender, other people argue that he is a terrible defensive player. Maybe he's like Melo in that when he actually tries, he's good at it.

Knicks will sign JR Smith and cut Balkman
