Do you think Mike D'Antoni can lead the Knicks to a championship?
Yes, I have complete faith that D'Antoni can coach us to a title.
No, D'Antoni will hold the Knicks back and we need a better head coach to win a title.

Isles has yet to say who his mystical new coach would be.

Mike Woodson Interim Head Coach

Then see who's available after the season.

I hear Larry Brown wants back in.

stick to cooking, duke.

Knicks are finding their groove in the offense, MDA finally has his PG, and this time he also has his closer and his defensive anchor, but your hatred for him is so strong you wanna switch to a guy whose entire scheme in Atlanta was "let Joe Johnson dribble in place for 20 seconds and then shoot"??

If MDA doesn't win with this group, he will never win.

This team has a chance. Every team needs a little luck. San Antonio tanked and got Duncan. The Knicks luck is getting Lin. A nobody who fits the system and actually has talent on top of it. IT gives opposing Defenses one more thing to worry about and with the offense the Knicks run that is critical.

The Knicks will do great as long as they keep playing D, when Melo and STAT get back to playing big minutes.

Isles,

Bring in an interm coach? Why, is the team not playing well?

Isiah lost his team. The turned him off.

This team plays for its coach. Not for Isles.

If the Knicks make a playof run, ECF or Finals they he gets an extension. I think anything other than that and MDA is out the door.

Lin takes a step back if not in mda's system. Not saying he won't ball hard, but he stands to grow more with MDA than with Patrick ewing as coach. Keep that in mind when irrationally bashing MDA because you dislike his mustache.

The little emperors speaking:

"either he goes deep in the playoffs and pleases me, or remove him!"

"Bring me fresh hope!"

"Bring me Phil Jax and pay the man what he wants!"

But, lets be reasonable. We have 36 games. Team needs to adapt Melo and Baron in to the flow.

It will have some bumps no doubt.

Playoffs? I'd like to determine his status depending on the seeding we get and who we go against.

And I 'd like to access our health. Last year we crawled into the playoffs and we were cooked. I expected very little so my senses were not offended as some were. This year I would hope we are a team "Gel-Lin" and healthy.

Endorsement: "MDA is an offensive genius!" olympic head coach K

He can pick anyone, he picks MDA to blend his team to work as a unit.

Bottom line with Dolan is MSG makes money. They make money by winning and entertaining.

Team is doing both now.

i would love to see the combo of phil jackson and lin then all the jackson nuthuggers can complain how jackson made lin take a step back.

it's simple. lin is a perfect fit for mda's system, there's no question about it. the knicks are actually playing defense now and whether or not you want to attriubute that to mda or not, he's the head coach and they are playing very good defense. why would we change a damn thing? just because the team sucked the past few years and mda didn't squeeze 5 more collective wins out of them?

Among the craziest **** I read was "he sucks because he didn't overachieve at all here" yea if we only won 34 instead of 29 that one year, he would warrant an extension Hahahahaha

I beg to differ. I'm enjoying this as much as anybody. The fact that I'm thinking as big as a championship should tell you that I've bought in on the players on this team (in fact I've been one of the few defending the makeup of the team while others still pine for the New York Nuggets). With Antoni being a lame duck coach, and with you claiming in another thread that extending his contract is the only option at this point, I thought it was a very legitimate topic to discuss whether or not Antoni was the right coach for this team as it hopes to compete for a championship.

Just because I can separate the two issues and not be pollyannaish like you and others that doesn't mean that I'm not enjoying the Jeremy Lin story.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

if your enjoying then enjoy. You sound like a powerball winner bitching about the taxes. Nobody cares.

Also your suggest of Woodson as an interim coach stinks. He's got a losing record in regular and post season. When you find someone better let me know.

sure... just like its ok to question whether your wife is the right woman to raise your children. Only your doing it when she's 8 mos pregnant.

You can question anything you want but your timing is not appropriate.

The season is turning around the there is an more excitement around this team then... well, then ever.
So NO. You cant. Bring it up at the end of the season when its appropriate to evaluate how this coach navigated this season and what the results were.

That's just an awful analogy. I don't even know where to begin.

Antoni is a lame duck coach with only a few months left on his contract. Why was it the right time for you to say "extend him" but it's not the right time for me to question it?

As good as the Jeremy Lin story is for the game, the city, and the fans, its a major setback in terms of this team doing what is necesary.

And that is firing Mike D'antoni.

If D'Antoni gets fired Mike Woodson will get promoted to head coach or Phil Jackson will be brought in.

If Mike Woodson takes over we will likely run the same system with some modifications. Mike Woodson got to learn the system for a full season and see where improvements can be made.

Option 2 is bringing in the proven Phil Jackson and the triangle system. We'd have a full training camp to work on things too.

In either case I dont see Mike D'Antoni coming back unless we go to the ECF.

Fishmike, is this not a question if he should be extended or not? I would like if they gauged his coaching through the playoffs and made the decision then. If the suggestion is put forth to extend him now, then this is a valid topic / argument NOW. No?
