I just hate when he takes those shots early in the clock, or when as the point guard he takes a shot immediately...

Geez, someone should tell him he's a rookie. Besides, it's not like he's a good shooter, he's a terrible shooter. That airball 3 in the last game was just ugly.

He should stick with defense, and take shots when he's open...

I usually love to root for rookies, but so far this season, I have to say I hate what that guy does...

FrenchKnicks - what game are you watching?

Nate Robinson? Are you freakin' kidding me?

Nate never managed the floor as Shumpert demonstrated last night. In additioin, Shumpert plays UNDER CONTROL. Shumpert is NOTHING like Nate. No, he is NOT a terrible shooter. 4-11 for a player shooting with an injured leg? C'mon Son! Opinion is one thing. Being arbitrary is another.

You hate what he does because he missed some shots?

Please.

I'm excited about many of the things Shumpert brings and think he should continue getting 30+ min but he does not look like a good shooter.

He doesn't look like a good shooter because he missed in last game or his form. Cause his form looks textbook to me. Great height on his jumper and really good rotation.

Much higher than 38-40! I would want a true shooting percentage (not FG%) in at least the mid if not upper .500s.

How much higher? Derrick Rose is shooting 44 per cent.

"The reality is that this season Rose is posting the lowest effective field-goal percentage of his three-year career. His .478 effective field goal percentage trails both his rookie .482 effective field-goal percentage and last year's .495 effective field-goal percentage.

Yet, despite shooting as poorly from the field as he ever has, Rose still has a 54.1 true shooting percentage, which is the highest true shooting percentage he has ever managed. The fact Rose has still managed to post a career-best true shooting percentage has everything to do with his trips to the free-throw line, which is the aspect of Rose's game for which he should receive some of the highest praise."

Shumpert also MAKES his free throws.

I guess the point on him shooting better is valid..but after 3 games I think it's too early to label him a bad shooter.

Rose's TS% is .571 this year (www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/rosede01.html). I'd love to see Shumpert get into that territory.

Willie Mays went 0-12 when he was called up by the New York Giants.

He sucked and the Giants should have traded him.

I'm sure anyone commenting on his shooting is using his college sample too, not just the NBA.

The Wizards announcers made a great comment about Shumpert's game being BETTER suited to the NBA than college.

Georgia Tech ain't in New York City and this ain't college.

not sure what's being said in here, but i love shump. love his confidence. love his game. this kid is going to make an impact on this franchise. he's bold and he's intense. you can see he takes shutting his man down personally.

great pick. knicks drafting has been terrific and it shows, to a degree, that having superlative players on your team rubs off on everyone. shumps got skills and athleticism and he gets to play with guys on his level every time we practice.

Yeah look at Russell Westbrook in college. His form has always looked good..it was his shot selection. He doesn't have to be "The Man" on this team so I think his FG% will go up.

I'd like to see Iman run more PnR and get into the teeth of the D more. He's a very strong finisher and should be taking the ball strong or taking the midrange jumper.

Westbrook's got a lot to prove. He's had one very impressive regular season combined with 2 OK but unimpressive ones, a bad playoff performance, and a bad start this year.

I would comment on the kid's game but I haven't seen any post-injury. FU MSG!

No offense to nixluva but he is on every bandwagon from the start.

Moonangie - we are a different team and the spacing is much better. Even Mike Bibby is hitting shots.

When Shumpert is 100 per cent watch out

our issue is quality depth

I provided clear video and stat proof for why I was highon this kid from the start. It's not true that I always like players we have. You just only remember the ones i've been high on. How about just admitting that I do have a point of view and I do get things right, tho all anyone wants to remember is when I get a season prediction wrong. I haven't been wrong about everything.

I told you that there was nothing wrong with the system and that we just need better PG play...
