KNICKS CLAIM GUARD JEREMY LIN

NEW YORK, December 27, 2011 – New York Knickerbockers Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations and Interim General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has claimed guard Jeremy Lin off waivers.

Lin, 6-3, 200-pounds, averaged 2.6 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 rebounds over 9.8 minutes in 29 games with Golden State last season and in 20 games for Reno of the NBA D-League, he averaged 18.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 20 games. The Torrance, CA-native, signed with the Warriors as an undrafted free agent on Jul. 21, 2010, following a four-year playing career at Harvard University where he appeared in 115 games (87 starts) and averaged 12.9 points on .481 shooting, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.96 steals over 29.3 minutes. Waived by the Warriors on Dec. 9, 2011, Lin was claimed off waivers by Houston on Dec. 12, and later waived on Dec. 24.

Lin is already in California!

Major props to KNICKSBIGCATS (yes, your caps are earned) for making this signing possible.

"Strengths: Clever true point guard with a great feel for the game and a good shooting touch. Always looks for open teammates and delivers the ball accurately and on time."

Well Done

Can the Knicks equipment manager hook up his road jersey for Wednesday night?

holy debbie downer. Dude did not get cut because of his lack of PG skills, just a numbers game with roster spots.

Lin was born and raised in California...

I like the signing though. Wonder if he can beat out Bibby when our trio of PG's come back.

You know....I was thinking the exact same thing, Nalod.

This potential signing would certainly generate interest
within the large Asian population in the greater Metro NY area.

Yeah, I'm sure that TMS would approve!

I will switch my stance and favor Lin over Mills if and only if TMS returns the Knicks sign Lin

Thank you very, very, much, Misterearl.

It feels really good to be recognized.

Honestly, I had a vision of this happening.

I embrace being a KNICK fan with the passion that it commands.
Gone are the days of being the league's doormat and laughing stock.
Ahead of us are many days of excitement and winning basketball.

And, like I said, I feel like I'm "channeling" Grunwald right now.
Kudos to him and his staff for CONTINUING to think outside the box.

Debbie Downer? Not really.

The guy is a 3rd string PG at best. I dont really care who the 15th man is honestly.

Some vids of him:

I do find it funny that everyone keeps saying he went to Harvard, like it somehow means he's a better basketball player! (have there been any harvard players in the nba?)

I remember Lin had that good summer league stretch after he failed to get drafted, and there was a real scramble amongst teams to sign him- Golden state got him as he's from that area. In his defense, he only got cut by Golden state to make room for the Deandre Jordan offer, then from Houston to make way for Dalambert- it's not like he got cut for no reason or for poor play.

Well, I hope he shows us something, but I won't cry if he doesn't- my expectations are low- at least he's not Nate Robinson!

I've liked Lin ever since he was in college....And especially when he was in the draft as a potential sleeper pick for the Knicks.

I think Lin can play... I just think it will take a bit longer to reap what he's sown.

I am curious if this is a long term development project. If it is, I'm all on board.

Just got off the phone with my father. We were discussing the signing and how my analysis of Lin/Mills. He made an interesting point. This could be something where even if/when Lin rides pine later in the year, it opens the Knicks up to move another player or asset for a pick, as Lin could be a future solution to point.

Meaning, depending how Lin pans out, maybe one of our young guards goes after this season for a pick, where the Knicks fill a need

Guy is a a second round pick who was playing on a bad team with too many 6'3" guys who wanted/needed the ball in their hands.

He will get the opportunity to show what he has got in NY and we wish him the best. Lin gotta play defense too if he wants to stick.

Hope he is given a llong term look. Just don't expect him to be a savior over the next few weeks. I think his best case scenario is to take over Bibbys minutes when Baron is healthy. But unless we are blowing someone out, or being blown out, don't expect to see him get minutes until next week.

Gotta give Grunwald credit. He's doing an excellent job.

well, guess there's not much wrong with the move, but hardly expect him to play.

maybe not though because we are pretty desperate for someone to run the point.

he has showed flashes, and folks on this forum have been drooling over lin since summer league last year, as i recall.

he might get a chance, but we also might not see him play at all.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...
