i think Devin Green should be looked at and considered. Walker or Devin Green is a pretty debate, with Novak on the roster now.
Devin's Green looks like he has better overall skill vs Walker, while Walker has experience with MDA.
Walker had some good shooting games for us and showed us he can penetrate at times as well.
However, I think Green brings a little more to the team that Walker. Maybe Walker isn't in game shape with his groin injury yet.
But overall, his play in New York has been very limited and inconsistent.

Walker's inability to defend SGs is where I like Green better. Walker's feet are pretty slow and seems to have low BB IQ.
He can't stay in front of his man and looks lost a lot of the times. He has shown that he can leap, but his handle, and foot work didn't improved the past 2
years to me. At times, he seems nothing more than a spot up shooter, with some ability to leap, and penetrate.

Greens foot work, shot, overall skills, ability to create his own shot/and others, and defense seem better than Walkers. His shot looks like it has a good form, with range up to the 3 point line as well. I am not sure if he can shoot better than Walkers, but he mixed with his ability to create his own shot and penetration, his game fits better with out teams needs. His foot work and athleticism is good as well, he looks like a poor mans Wilson Chandler to me, with a smaller frame, strength, athleticism, and game to me.
Green does not have enough handle to run the point but he would be able to help the PG out more than Walker. He could play the G/F better than Walker, as Walker seems to be more of a SF.

I would have liked to see a little more of Hunter before we cut him too. I feel we could use a better PF/C that is more athletic and good size. Jorts is a rugged like player with a soft touch. With a shortened season, we could have used a player like Sean Williams. We don't have a player that can emulate Tyson Chandler's game when he goes to the bench.
Chandler will likely get limited minutes due to his foul troubles, fatigue, and injuries. We shouldn't wait till we need a player after our players are hurt.
We should have players already in practice, learning to play with the 2nd/3rd units, and ready when called upon.
Problem is we already have 15 guys on the roster, with many of them hurt. Ak47 would be a nice player to have now that New Jersey doesn't have the cap room to sign him after trading for Okur.

It's weird to me that the Knicks' staff has stuck with Walker so long. Maybe they see something in practice that we have not.

I have to say that I was impressed with Walker at the end of last season and in the playoffs. He fought for a spot in the rotation and earned it. Then he actually defended hard if not well. I think they like his effort more than necessarily his execution. Even in the 1st game this year, he made mistakes, but he gave effort, like on the last shot by KG, he picked off Tyson, but didn't stop and at least got back into KG's sight line and defended that last shot. Walker is a strange role player on this team. He hasn't seemed to do much, but sticks around. Must be partly familiarity and his improved effort.

Walker's career numbers are 40% from 3, and 49% from the field. MDA has a hard time parting with a player that might provide those numbers shooting the rock.

Its also interesting that he was in the Celtics game for KG's last shot. Does MDA think more of his defense than we do? Maybe it is because he is familiar with the Celtic's offense, perhaps he may be more intuitive about what they are likely to do on a game ending shot?

Walker was inserted cause he was bigger against the inbound guy.

Then should get a brownie point at least.

If I was MDA and wanted someone significantly taller than Rondo, Balkman is who comes to mind, instead of Walker. Watched Walker run into Chandler a few times. It seems Walker was slow to react to Rondo running past Garnett and it doesn't look like he played the situation properly. One would think that he could have anticipated the pick that the Garnett was able to set. Plus why would you run into your own man, (the teams best defender to boot).

Walker is a very good player when he is motivated. There are definitely two different Walkers. One gives effort and produces. The other does not. I suspect he will get time for a while like Balkman but over time we will look to upgrade him
I just hope that people will like me

We could use a scorer who could create shots for himself.
Somebody who is quick and can play in an up-tempo style offense.
If he had an expiring contract, that would be a plus. Somebody who is currently
a non-starter on a mediocre/poor team.

Leandro Barbosa is the guy.

He would be a great match for our backcourt....
BUT, at 7.6 million, we do not have any matches for him.
So, back to the drawing room for me.
