BD with the Cavs:

man, you look at what he did for the Cavs... he's got more court vision than anyone the knicks have on their roster. and he's got style. NY will LOVE BDiddy. LOVE.

if he's healthy, or can get healthy, he's a guy i would rather have than Chauncey Billups (you can see him blow by Billups in a few of those clips with the Cavs).

so, to recap: Glen Grunwald basically traded Billups for TYSON CHANDLER AND BARON DAVIS. that's executive of the year type stuff. or at least he should be crowned the King of Amnesty.

i think the knicks are one of the top three in the East now - Bulls, Heat, Knicks. final order to be determined.

i'm thrilled with this move. i can pretty much guarantee BDiddy will win this team a major playoffs game or two this year with his shooting and passing.

You're right, getting Chandler/Baron for basically Chauncey Billups was amazing. I can't wait for him to get on the court.

The only thing we need now is for Ill Will to come back from China and take the 2.5 Mil - A tru;y versatile player we can always call our own who deserves to be part of something good here. Though he will probably go somewhere else for more money.

I'm am hoping and praying that Davis heals up cuz he is such a better passer than anyone we have had that it's not even funny. You put a PG like him in MDA's system and we'll see some serious results. He just has be be healthy enough to get up and down the court, cuz he won't have to do any heavy lifting anymore. PnR, alleyoops and popping 3's. MAN I hope this guy gets healthy soon.

I thought I read we had to give Baron our 2.5 mill? Not sure if it was a bidding process and we had to outbid other teams? Originally I thought we could sign him for the vets min too.

he really is and its not like he had a drop off from production last year neither. So we aren't expecting him to come back from a horrible year or surgery
in the same situation like Gilbert or Redd...

I generally don't like targets like those, although, Grant Hill, was once on my done list a couple of times.....
If he comes back the same way, like he did last year, we got a huge steal.
I would expect the Knicks to look to make some calls to see what value our expendable players will be at by the deadline.

we have a shot with UFA with that price but not with RFA. Denver would have the right to match and hold his bird rights too. So Chandler would have to be a sign and trade...

I don't think the Knicks can trade a 1st round pick until 2016.

i hope we kept our 2.5m exception too, if not, I hope we at least got a team option for the 2nd year, or at least player option.
This team looked like it was missing 3 point shooters to spread the floor as well.
Another backup forward too.... Ak47ish

Peja
Ak47

would be really nice. While using our expendables for package, to free up roster spots, and get us another piece that would help us...

Yeah. I don't understand why we had to give him the $2.5 mil exception when Cleveland was picking up his salary anyways and whatever we pay gets deducted from what Cleveland pays. I'm very happy we signed Baron but why not for just the vet min?

apparently since he cleared the bid process, that's actually not true. baron gets to double dip.

At this point where Crawford, Shawne, Murphy and many others aren't available, what is the concern that we gave Davis the 2.5 instead of the veteran min? Anybody else that's coming here was gonna get either of those. Whoever we plan on getting now will have to take the veteran's minimum, but anybody that's still available practically will take the same anywhere else.

Great move for the Knicks! Add Reggie Evans for the minimum and we'll be set!

Eh, I thought we would pay him the vet's min. Didn't read it too closely.
So much for Ill Will and his return to NY

The Knicks are reportedly going to pay Davis $2.5 million, using their exception.

But if Davis is a free agent after clearing waivers, why doesn't he sign with us for the minimum ($1.4 million), thus leaving the exception still available for us to try to lure someone else?

Why would it matter to Davis how much the Knicks pay, if Cleveland is paying the balance of his contract?

I guess there's a reason , but I don't get this.

That said, great pickup!

I read somewhere when he comes bck from China he will be an UFA. I definitley don't keep up with contract terms etc.

I'm glad we signed Bdiddy but it seems a bit greedy for him to take the $2.5 mil instead of the $1.4 veteran's minimum since he already is getting $13.95 Mil from Cleveland. The team could have used the Room Exception of $2.5 mil to possibly land a better player than they could get for just the Vet min which could lead to a better chance of winning a Championship.
