There is absolutely nothing that can be done to mitigate the effects of Melo or Stat, or Chandler going down, there is no one of their caliber waiting in the wings. If it happens we'll have to deal with it.

What's crazy to me is that there seems to be this notion that we could've built a better team somehow. Given the limited elite level players that exist in the NBA it's a good thing when you can honestly say you have 3 of those kinds of players. The miracle that we were able to actually sign Tyson Chandler who was one of the best Centers available in this FA market should be appreciated and not picked at. What was the one thing that 99% of Knicks fans and media said this team needed even more than a PG? A legit Center to anchor this team. We got the best one not named Dwight Howard.

We also have 2 of the top scorers in the league... PERIOD! Clearly we don't have a premier level PG, but we don't have scrubs either. You can't have everything in an instant. This is a great start and puts the team closer to contention. The Bulls and Heat have issues too. We just have to see if this team can overcome its own shortcomings to advance to the ECF's.

Nah mean!

We've got quite a few changes so past isn't relevant. This team isn't perfect but then what team in the NBA is perfect right now? Is Miami a perfect team from a purest stand point say like the Magic Lakers? We haven't even filled the roster yet.

You honestly can't be excited about this team? I don't follow why you would feel that way. We finally have closers and finally a legit Center. This team is literally a player away from having it all. The hardest parts to find are already here!!!

We need Carmelo to change his game. There's a higher than a zero percent chance of that. So there's something to be excited about. Hopefully he will prove me wrong and I'll get excited during the season.
he doesnt need to change. There is a difference between running the offense and running the offense THROUGH someone. The Knicks ran the offense THROUGH Ewing in for 10 years. What was his assist to TO?

Melo is the best offensive player, thus you run the offense through him. Pretty simple. Change his game? Nobody is asking him to be a PG. Just fit into a different system, something every player deals with when the leave college or play on a different team.

The Knicks have backcourt question marks, but this is a 2nd round playoff team. TODAY

Regardless of whether the offense is being run through him or whatever description you want to use, if this team is going to do anything worthwhile he can't be a ball-stopper with a high turnover rate. Even if we'd kept Chauncey, that would still be the case.

I actually disagree on this one, although he is probably the best scorer *amare*, he now has to shift his energy on other areas on the game as well.
It is tough, it's hard to change this "1v1* style and although he can even hit a lot of bad shots, we need the element of surprise from Melo.
He has the ability , to get his shot of at anytime, however, I don't like the idea of his taking bad shots when it isn't needed.
I don't mind him taking a few bad shots at times, however, if he is capable using the Triple threat, in shooting, slashing, and passing, he will only be even harder to stop.
It will give his team mates a lot more confidence and it is infectious. I like how Amare, Melo, and Chandler seem to bring a lot of POSITIVE ENERGY.
It's truly infectious and helps the mentality of the team. The negative energy during the isiah thomas years appears gone.
Whether we blowing a team out, or possibly on a bad game, or a bad streak, if our leaders continue to show this confidence during the good and bad times, it helps the development
of faith, trust, and team chemistry that we lacked after the trade.

Like some people has said, Fields looks a lot more cut this year, with his muscles.
Some of the things that he needed work to on was his speed, quickness, penetration, ability to create shots for himself, and create for others, while being more consistent
on the 3 point shooting. Last year with being a rookie, and the whole Melo trade, it changed the style of the team, and the depth. It was a huge change and we have this year
to look hard and analyze Fields, entirely, if he is worth using the MLE on. He does look more confident this year, and I hope he succeeds.

Jordan although looks a little raw, he looks quite in good shape, * he was playing in Europe the whole time* so its possibly that he might be in pretty good shape vs Jorts.
We do look like we can use a shooter to spread the floor out, a floor general that can facilitate the pick and roll *in at least Felton's abilities*.
We look like we can also use a backup 4. Another shot blocking athletic PF/C, can also be used, Jorts and Jordan, looks more like bodies that can be used.
With that said, we only have 1 roster spot, with Balkman not looking too good. It doesn't look like he went to work on his game this summer.
Amare looks like he took some pages off Dirk/Dallas, looking to extend his range, knowing Chandler can hold the boards by himself at times.

Peja
Ak47
Antonio Daniels?? is more of a defender and distributor, he is no young anymore but he does have the ability to guard PG + SGs.

I think after having can add Peja, he will be our best shooter. He is a very smart, high basketball IQ player, and probaby can play the SF/ SG *limited minutes*
He knows hot to use his size and length to disrupt players. I would prefer him over Redd, with his injuries. Ak47 would be great, I am not sure if 2.5m would be enough
to lure him over. I know he is playing in Europe, i think Moscow now. We are missing a couple nice role players and not having a long training camp and not being able to really practice over the season, its really going to be hard for our players to adjust. Of course playing so many minutes, games, and the body strain it put on them is going to be really hard for the players. This is where our quality players on our bench could mean the difference. I believe we need more than the standard 12 man roster, subbing in some guys
on certain nights, to keep our players from being fatigued. However, we might have many games, in which we can rest majority of our players in the the late or hopefully early 4th quarter at times. We all know in our past, 4th quarters were very hard on us. The defensive mentality and presence he brings is a big plus. In the end, its a team effort, and
we need everyone on the court and the bench to be on the same page, with Chandler communicating and anchoring our defense. I noticed Amare and even Melo are a lot more vocal and seem positive, I hope Melo doesn't give that *marbary stare*, he something give when things aren't going his way or if going bad. The way he *hited on TD, after he was a the PG when Billups went down, he was very tough on him. We have a very young team and a lot of young guys, they will make mistakes, but the most important thing is to correct them, while not taking away their confidence and making them look bad in front of everyone and the crowd.
