Wow. RT @KBergCBS: Shawne Williams has agreed to sign with the Nets for the same two-year, $5M that the Knicks offered him, source confirms.

If true, I'll cry no river for him. He had a chance to comeback and got the same contract. Wanted a bigger role on a team, since the Nets supposedly offered him a starting position? Nice choice, dude.

Hey eVil, if that cat chose the NETS over the KNICKS, then yeah, he's a frikkin' scrub, all right. He was forgotten about before he became a Knick, and he'll be back in obscurity. That said, he chose to be irrelevant since he decided to be on an irrelevant team.

No need for any reminiscing over Shawne Williams- to hell with him ("to the Nets with him" is saying the same thing LMAO). Time for us to keep building our contending team and move on to better improvements. They're out there.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

id find it very hard to root for deshawn. never liked him.

redd and murphy i wouldn't mind though. murphy could give us some rebounding and redd for his obvious shooting ability.

Who are the other SF free agents left? Fuck, I'd even give Peja minutes before Balkman.

according to rumor, we threw out Jerome Jordan, Future 1st round pick, for Cp3

that is no way could buy us Cp3's talent.

I wonder if it would be enough to bring back Ariza though?
Something like this would also free up roster spots for us....
For New Orlean's I am not sure if they are trying to stay competitive with Kaman and Ok4 together.
That's could be a decent combination with, will they extend Kaman or, should to retrade him to a desperate Spur's looking to preserve Duncan and make their final run?

Kaman
Ok4
Ariza
Gordon
Jack

wolves 1st round pick unprotected
their own first rounders

I would love Ariza back, we didn't have enough scorers back then, but his role is vital to us now.
Finish it up with Peja for 1year vet min deal.

I am not sure sure about using 2.5m on Mo Evans.
While he is the tough defender, we could use, his shot is really inconsistent....
think this 2.5m, is important because we can add a player for 2 years, not for a 1 year with no bird rights, we would get early bird rights for the future as well.

I would like to stick it back with the Russian, on the Nets.
He takes Shawne from us, lets try to take back Ak47
Ak47 would be a nice player to have, playing the backup PF, SF, and even Center

Detroit has a lot of PG's as well

The Knicks keep getting hate for the way they deal with this things. While we don't know exactly what happened behind the doors, we know the Knicks had a chance to sign Craw for 2.5 mill, which we had to explore until we were told yes or no. If that hurt Shawne's feelings, he needs to understand this is a business. Knicks actually gave him a chance and helped him earn that new contract, so any hard feeling is foolish.

Makes me wonder what he was waiting for. Knicks were not going to be able to offer him more than that. He should have signed with the Nets and started practicing with them.

problem is we need a back up for

PF
SF
SG

there aren't many players that can actually play those positions.
Ak47, could play the PF, Center, and SF, with limited minutes and I would offer a package to Utah as well after NO for Ariza.

Iman
Ariza
Melo
Amare
Chandler

TD
Ak47
Green
Hunter
Peja

Jorts or Jordan
JJ

Miami
----------------------------------------
Lebron*point forward*
Wade
Battier
Bosh *forward center*
Haslem/joel anthony or they can go small putting a PG on top

---------------------------------------

I would like to have a lineup that's big enough for Miami in the playoffs
I think CHandler, Ariza, Ak47, Iman, and we could use TD or Mo Evans, or a Amare *help defender*

that's just soooo sick defensively...
how do you guys feel about Ariza vs Wilson Chandler vs Ak47 if we had to pick one?

there's no way they trade Ariza now. they need the veterans there to stabilize the young guys they have all over the roster. they'll hold onto OK4, Ariza, Jack, etc, I think.

yeah, that seems like still a squad that can have a chance to make playoffs.
But they are lacking bench. I wouldn't be surprised if they did still break up their team, to ensure, that they will at least have 1 high pick.
possibly 2, if Wolves repeat history.

Kaman still has value, he was injured last year, however, prior to last year, he was close to averaging 20-10-2
This is his contract year, so I would expect him to come out strong.

Problem with gong this route is, what do they do with Ok4?
I was quite surprised New Orlean's didn't package him with Cp3 to CLippers.
Clipper's doesn't have a backup pf/C neither.
But we know Sterling is cheap.

With such a strong draft this year, I think David Stern, know's that this would be a great year to rebuild around draft picks.
I can see him throwing the games, and looking to get draft picks back with their rest of their roster.
While Ariza might get a better trade than a 2017 pick by us, they still have some nice assets.

Kaman
Ariza
Jack

Ok4 * i am not sure is he an asset or a bad contract*, its tricky, if they come out banging with Kaman and Ok4 doing well, I think they should look to unload. Would
be similar to what Walsh did, with JC and ZBo

Belleani

Shawne was quite patient with us, he thought he proved himself more vital last year, after the Melo trade.
He was actually our toughest guy and he will protect our stars.]
When it became apparent Crawford wasn't coming, the Knicks probably still wanted to offer only 1 year veteran's min on him.
I think that's where it really hurt his feelings on top of everything else.
Our selling point to him was basically, sign with us this year for the vet minimum and we will have your *early bird rights next year*...
While he is not the fastest or even talented player, he can hit the baseline 3's and give some players trouble, using his length/reach and his strength.
His position however, is actually SF. He doesn't have the speed to guard many SG's and the size to guard PFs.
But there will be times, in which he can play limited minutes on both those position, usually against back ups.
It's possible Chandler would have been able to help Shawne out a little more too.
It would have been nice to keep him, however, there are players I would actually prefer over Shawne...

Ak47
Peja

are both free agents, I think AK47 is an upgrade over Shawne, except that Shawne can sometimes play the SG, while Ak47 will play the PF *better than Shawnee* and center.
Peja is still one of the leagues deadly shooters, we can always use shooters his caliber.

Ariza
Jarreat Jack

Wilson Chandler

Detriots PGs

Stuckey
Bynum

Tyson Chandler need's team mates that are willing to play defense and have the abilities to do so.
We all know, Shawnee isn't the fastest, but has great reach. But he would most likely even play better defense with Chandler protecting the paint.
He know's his role and is content with it.
I don't think we offered the 2.5m to him if he really signed with the Nets.
I really believe he wanted to stay.
Knick's most likely wanted to sign him to a 1 year vet minimum and since last year he played 1 year minimum. I believe we would have had his early bird rights, therefore,
We could have payed him more next year, while preserving our exceptions this year and next year. He would have been a nice player to have, especially if he went this route.
We could have gave him an increase in salary next year for a 3 year or so extension....

I admit it is unlikely but so was signing Tyson Chandler, after the Dallas Mavericks won the championships....
so keep our heads up, ^^

Early Bird exception

This is the lesser form of the Larry Bird Exception. Free agents who qualify for this exception are called "early qualifying veteran free agents," and qualify after playing two seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent. Using this exception, a team can re-sign its own free agent for either 175% of his salary the previous season, or the NBA's average salary, whichever is greater. Early Bird contracts must be for at least two seasons, but can last no longer than four seasons. If a team agrees to a trade that would make a player lose his Early Bird Rights, he has the power to veto the trade.

I am not sure if 2, 1 year min, contract applies for Shawnee Williams, or if you need 1 contract that is 2 years.
Whatever, the case maybe, I believe Shawnee wanted that 2.5m exemption, in which he would get a possible greater increase in his salary due to % of increase.
