Bottom line is we need a true pg on this team. I don't mind this unless it prevents us from getting Barron davis or a better pg later.

It seems that the approach the Knicks are gonna take is that they will look to improve the PG spot, but if they can't then they'll just go ahead and plug guys in like TD, Iman or Bibby in order to bring the ball up, but no matter what, they're gonna run things thru Melo more. It's not a bad idea. Melo will have to step up as a leader who makes his teammates better.

Really? Run the offense through Melo? That would be disastrous

Rose is not the answer.

bibby is hardly a true pg at this point. the guy can hardly move. he's not a good distibutor; all he did in miami was stand in the corner and wait for the 3. and his defense is atrocious.

agree, this scares me. MDA is in win-now mode though so hopefully he will just play the best players and not stupidly play vets over rooks like he did in year 1. (duhon over douglas; jon bender over jordan hill, etc). please please please have douglas be the starting PG. give me hustle D from baseline to baseline instead of bibby's "matador" D to quote clyde.

What are you talking about? The only rook we have to worry about is Iman and Fields starting the entire year makes your point look foolish. It's a proven FACT that if a young player shows he can play he'll get a shot. Don't now why people keep pushing this falsehood that MDA won't play a young player. We started a rookie SG ALL YEAR!!! WTF!

Why do you think it would be a disaster? Please elaborate.

He may not be a good true pg anymore, but still has a ton of experience. I think he's a decent stopgap for now. They needed someone. Too bad Tinsley wasn't available.

Maybe young guys should have been put in place of playing rookies. I absolutely could see Bibby starting for D'Antoni. On a one year contract with a shortened season, I think a guy that has been reluctant to play young players will be even more cautious. He probably is right to be this year but not in the case of Bibby. If the Knicks didn't get Chandler and were starting Jeffries over Jorts and Jordan it would be the right move. Douglas should play ahead of Bibby and Iman should get minutes as well.

I am pretty sure TD, would be given the first look. SSOL still seems to be what he want's to run. He is the only "G" or "PG"

that know's anything about it.

If Bibby had at least a full training camp, judging from the decision's Dantoni has made, Bibby could be a threat to start.
However, I wouldn't think Bibby would be starting ahead of TD with his experience on SSOL.
Likely, 3 players starters got the hang of it at some point, Amare, being the veteran in that system in Phoenix.
Chandler, the way he sets good screens, rolls, is very important in this system, which he already does well.
Our biggest questions remain, would be ball movement, shot selection, and 3 point shooting.

TD
Amare
Fields

Melo

Chandler

TD is going to start becaues Mike Bibby is running on fumes at this point of his career

Anyone else remember the Biiby-to-the-Knicks trade rumors from when Bibby played for the Vancouver Grizzlies? He's no spry chicken

Bibby is competition for TD and an insurance policy against injury. He's not great but for the minimum he's a decent stop-gap.

Hahaha just an hour ago my drunk friend waiting in line for post-club halal basically described Melo's game the exact same way.
