I hate it when you say something sensible.

does that make you feel better?

No, that makes much more sense than 90% of your usual statements.

HA! Perfect set up!!

Careful now, that could be characterized as hate speech.

Cubs minor league team mocks LeBron with ring giveaway
By 'Duk

LeBron James was right: The people who run the Peoria Chiefs really did wake up on Monday morning with their usual host of personal problems.

Chief, uh, among them: How were they supposed to bring widespread publicity to their Single-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs without spending a lot of money — or any money at all, really?

Luckily, the defeated but smug Miami Heat star provided them with enough inspiration to make this an easy work week. And so the Chiefs will be holding "LeBron James 2011 NBA Championship Replica Ring Giveaway" night for Thursday night's game.

The catch being that the ring, like the one James didn't earn against the Dallas Mavericks, is non-existent so fans will really just be receiving a handful of air. The joke "giveaway" is being tacked on to an already scheduled promotion celebrating Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls' run of six NBA titles over eight years during the 1990s.

From the Peoria Chiefs press release:

In addition to the LeBron replica ring, the Chiefs are looking into whether or not the game can skip the fourth inning to honor King James who took off the fourth quarter of every finals game.

"We aren't sure if the league will allow it," said team President Rocky Vonachen. "But if LeBron doesn't need to show up for the fourth, maybe we won't either."

One lucky fan will win a replica of James' 2011 Finals MVP Award which he earned with his clutch fourth quarter play. Fans will also have the opportunity to learn how to perform the Heimlich to prevent themselves or their colleagues from choking in a big situation.

"Really this is just us getting back to the real world and waking up today and trying to solve our own personal problems," said Vice President of Ticket Sales Eric Obalil.

I'm usually not a big fan of minor league teams jumping on the latest sports news for a cheap headline or promotion, especially if it doesn't involve the sport they play.

But I have to hand it to the chiefs of the Chiefs. It sure takes a lot of guts to schedule a giveaway mocking LeBron's lack of rings when you're feeding a big league baseball franchise that hasn't won one since 1908. Especially when the Cubs are currently a heck of a lot further away from winning a championship than James and the Heat.

Not exactly classy, but what the hell...it made me laugh.

Only in America. Hope LeKing is enjoying his paycheck today...

I wonder if the state of Ohio could close the state down the 4th day of every month? Maybe give away parts of the "We are Witness" banners? Witness doggie diaper giveaways?

Lebron isn't shallow or repugnant. He didn't think through clearly what he was saying and it came out poorly.
Rose is not the answer.

Agreed. Lebron is only guilty of being immature. The hate this guy gets, while others get a pass, is beyond me.

It's simple

Guy A-Walks in to the local bar. Everyone is excited to see him. As he walks through the crowd he gets high fives from the men and hugs from the ladies. Everyone greets him with a smile. Guy A is likeable.

Guy B-Walks in to the same bar. The crowd seperates as nobody wants to talk to him. People look down and some even give him the finger. People greet him with a "what are you doing here" type of look. Guy B is not likeable.

Guy A can spill a beer on a crowd of people adn everyone will laugh, grab napkins and forgive. Guy B does the same thing and people want to fight him. Why? Because Guy A is likeable and Guy B is not. That's reality. Not everyone gets treated the same way. You normally get treated in response to your actionis. For Guy B to become more like Guy A he needs to change some of th ethings that he says, and some of things that he does. Otherwise he will continue to be unlikeable and people will continue to heap abuse upon him and pray for his downfall.

This is life. Some people are likeable and some are not. Some on this site are Guy A, some are guy B and most fall somewhere in between. Lebron is definitely Guy B and that is why he takes a beating and Wade does not. Lebron needs to change his actions. Humble himself, stop attacking fans, stop celebrating himself and most importantly win, and he will be Guy A.

I personally consider myself Guy A, but everyone else considers me Guy B. That's a problem

I just hope that people will like me

Nobody really hates LeBron. We don't know LeBron. He's hated as a character in a basketball context. Watch the video Martin posted; it lays it all out quite well, or check out this blog post. There's nothing new here, people always choose to "hate" particular athletes. If people didn't feel passionate about their teams and the personalities, there'd be a lot less interest in sports. Let's not get all high and mighty all the sudden in the case of LeBron.

If I could give LeBron any advice it would be to lose his entourage and call Magic Johnson. He would make a better mentor than the knuckleheads and sycophants he has around him now.

To play off Bip's analogy, once upon a time Lebron was guy A, that is until he and his camp made the decision to have the DECISION. Now he's guy B in the eyes of most.
